Title: Rumors You Heard Before That Kept You From Buying A Game
Post by: oldgamerz on January 07, 2019, 05:09:49 pm
I never even tried "Star Fox 64". Because I heard a rumor about a section, where someone complained that there is a vary difficult section, where you need to destroy an aircraft on foot in a timed manner, in order to pass a certain mission? My question is that true? That has been the only reason I never played that game, i figured it will just be another frustrating mess to deal with. I used to cheat on games a lot but I stop cheating when I became an adult and learned that games can actually be fun trying to figure them out on my own.

What are some of the rumors or spoilers that you had with a video game that kept you away from buying them? Perhaps a downed review? Explain your experience

There is no such section in StarFox 64. There's a couple of missions where you drive a tank, but definitely nothing on foot. I don't recall any timed missions either, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

I'm sure there's a few games out there where I was off-put by bad reviews, but I can't recall any of them. Well, one- I had a mild interest in Enslaved before release becuase of the Journey to the West connection, but saw a medicore review for it somewhere & promptly forgot about that. Then a couple years ago I found a copy at Gamestop for 3 bucks & decided to give it a go for that price. I ended up really enjoying it- I even bought a different $3 copy at another Gamestop about a week later becuase it came with a mini-comic book. At this point, the price has actually gone up 2 bucks- I guess enough people got interested at the lower price to warrant a bump.

Didn’t play the new Tomb Raider for the longest time because of the dumb ass pr guy that said at some show that Lara gets “basically raped” in the game.

She doesn’t.

The new trilogy is amazing btw. Especially on the Xbox One X.

The whole fiasco with Spyro Re-Ignited Trilogy - in how the majority of the game isn't on the disc.

As someone who buys physical media I understand these days that games often have updates & Patches, but I still but the disc so that I can install the game quickly and have some consumer confidence of Future Proofing - If I buy a game that has a Complete Edition Re-released later I will be first in line to trade my old version for the updated Edition.

But with Spyro, there was an on going back and forth enquiry to if the game will be on disc -the main claim being there was too much data to fit on the Blu-ray disc, which upon the release was revealed untrue. They later chucked a few levels of Spyro 2 & 3 but this wasn't good enough as the majority of them games still had to be download - it just makes me question the point in buying it on disc. I am secretly hoping for a Re-release, like how Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy seems to have had an updated version with the extras levels added.

It's a shame as I was genuinely interested in getting the trilogy - I 100% Completed the PS1 version, but all that nonsense and the release of a lacking product just hasn't won me over.

The whole fiasco with Spyro Re-Ignited Trilogy - in how the majority of the game isn't on the disc.

The excuses were complete bullshit. The ONLY reason the three games aren't on the disc is so it cannot be resold. It's a stupid one-time use code in the case. So if you want it used, you still have to pay Activision for the other two games. They pull the same shit with the Destiny releases. It doesnt matter what version of Destiny you buy. It's the "vanilla" version disc with DLC codes in the box.

Along with their other predatory, maximize profits & churn out sequel after sequel ways, it's just one more reason I refuse to buy any Activision products.
