I don't care what anyone says, 4 player license to kill slappers only is still just about the most fun you can have

Nintendo Switch. I love every other Nintendo console to death so it took me years to admit it, but I sadly hate this thing.

People ragged on the Gamecube and N64 for having lopsided libraries where certain genres didn't exist and you had to wait months between good games, but the Switch is even worse. Want a good football game on Switch? Enjoy playing literally nothing. Want a good FPS? Hope you like ports of old games with worse performance. Want a realistic racing game? All you get is a port of a mediocre PS3/360 game. Even Nintendo's own games often feel lazy and uninspired in my opinion, and they tend to overcharge heavily for them. At least you can play them on an overly large "portable" system with a terrible battery life and terrible controls!

I played it all the way through when it came to 3DS and mostly remember its gameplay being a blatant carbon copy of Dragon Quest, but not nearly as well balanced. It's really the kind of game you play for the weird dialog more than anything else, but I've played worse 16 bit RPGs.

I can see my exit from modern gaming completely in the next 5 years or so

Already happened for me a couple years ago. I completely got out of modern gaming because I was consistently feeling meh about every game I bought, even the most hyped up and well reviewed games. When I realized that I have way more fun playing $30 worth of N64 games than a single modern $60 game, the choice was easy.

The newest game I own is Mario Maker 2, a game I waited months for, got at launch, and then only played for 5 hours. Modern gaming just isn't for me anymore, but I haven't found myself in a gaming rut ever since moving to all retro.

Jet Force Gemeni I feel is relatively underrated. It is a fun game. From what I remember it was hard (13 year old self bias may be in play there) but it had a lot of action. I won't say its a great game, but definitely worth a play.

Jet force gemini is awesome, one of my all time favorites. Its a wonky game at first and it expects a lot from the player, but if you stick with it then it rewards you heavily

I've played them all and think they're all really fun, even mickey speedway

If I had to pick a favorite then I'd probably go with banjo tooie

7
Almost every yugioh game came with a few promo cards. Many of these cards were exclusive and were only obtainable by buying the game (or at least were at the time), and some of them are getting very valuable

8
All trading card games went up but pokemon was the most drastic. I remember you could walk into a walmart or target and still see magic and yugioh on the shelves, but the pokemon section would be completely empty. My friend who was into the game had to figure out the day and time the restock person usually came, just to have the chance to buy regular pokemon tcg products at their normal retail price.

Most people blamed logan paul for this

This change made the search feature a lot more annoying to use. If I do a search for "animal crossing" then now all you get are PAL versions that don't have numbers in the title, and a flood of 50000 amiibo cards. I had to scroll through five pages just to find a single American listing of this game whose official title matches my search query perfectly.

This is just a terrible user experience. Sure, there are advanced search features that would narrow it down quicker than scrolling through page after page, but why should we have to rely on that when previously all I had to do was type the name and the right item would come up right away?

Also, it's really ugly. Like Wii Sports (C\RVL-RSPE-USA-2)? That's almost double the length of the game name itself!

Pretty much every other Nintendo revision in the past
A. Offered significant improvements or new features (GBA SP, New 3DS)
B. Offered a very different form factor (GB Micro, 3DS XL)
C. Was a budget option (Wii Mini, New 2DS XL)

The Switch OLED does not offer any significant new features or improvements since it only introduces a slightly improved screen and other very minor additions that most people probably wouldn't even notice. It does not have a very different form factor since the Joy Cons are the same and the unit is almost the same size as the original. And it's not a budget option either because it costs $50 more than the 4 year old base model.

I have absolutely no idea what the point of this thing is. This seems like Nintendo's most pointless hardware revision of all time, which is saying a lot.

Were there more than just these two because? I didnt really pay attention to the New 3DS exclusive titles so these are the primary 2 I am aware of.
There were tons of garbage New 3DS exclusives on the eshop because unity supported the New 3DS but not the old 3DS

You can tell it's fake right away because the ESRB rating is the old one that says +6 at the bottom. This was only used in 1995 and beforehand, so no N64 game should have that. Fake games usually work at first, but don't be surprised if you have issues with saving or if it stops working later on. I always advocate buying flash carts instead of reproductions if you don't care about having the originals.

To answer the original question, a small number of legit N64 games (such as Ogre Battle) do have the "white cartridge tip". Mario Kart isn't one of them though.

Goldeneye is still my favorite FPS ever. I don't care who tries to tell me it doesn't hold up, you can't pretend getting 3 friends together and doing slappers only in license to kill mode isn't tons of fun.

Everyone knows all the good first party games, and they're still some of nintendo's all time best games, but I feel like its third party games are way better than people give it credit for too. Goemon, rocket: robot on wheels, space station silicon valley, wipeout, rush 2049, turok, ogre battle, snowboard kids, rayman 2, wwf no mercy, gauntlet legends, rogue squadron, mischief makers, and many more.

I can't help but wonder if this sudden boom in retro game demand and prices will result in an actual crash on the other side of this?

Probably not to a degree as high as you'd hope but I wouldn't be surprised to see them go down a little bit compared to before covid.

For example, the Pokemon Go craze of 2016 made old Pokemon games shoot up in price for a while, but afterwards they went down to even lower than they were before. I remember generally seeing Pokemon Red for $20-30 before 2016, then it shot up to $50 when Pokemon Go mania increased demand, and afterwards I frequently saw the game for $10-20. Not all of them had a noticeable decrease after the craze died down (like Heartgold), but they at least went back to what they were beforehand. And with video game sales in general being at a record high (and not just for old games), this would seem to be on a larger scale.

I think that best case scenario they'll get a little bit cheaper than they were previously, and worst case scenario they'll go back to roughly what they were before. All I know is that stuff like people being willing to pay almost $40 for Goldeneye 64 isn't going to last, so if you want to get rid of some stuff then now's your chance.

I think it's good for casual N64 fans. It's affordable, more traditional, and has decent build quality. However, as a hardcore fan of N64, I find it lacking for a few reasons.

The joystick, while more durable out of the box, has a different sensitivity than the official sticks. Again, casual players might not notice this, but play something like F Zero X on master back to back with the Brawler and an official controller in good condition and you'll see exactly what I mean. The controls in many N64 games are fine tuned to be played with the official stick, and feel slightly off with other controllers. Also, the more traditional layout of it doesn't lend itself well to some of the more ambitious control schemes in some games. For example, Goldeneye has a control scheme were the D Pad acts like WASD and strafes in 4 directions, while using the control stick to look in all directions. This works basically identically to a modern console FPS game, and it's my preferred way to play the game. However, the Brawler puts both the D Pad and control stick on the same side, so you have to go southpaw and use the C Buttons to strafe and the control stick to look.

So I do think the Brawler is a good option for people who can't get used to the unique (but still comfy IMO) shape of the official controller, or people who just want a cheap controller that works mostly well without any adjustments. But for more serious players, I'd recommend following this guide to repair N64 control sticks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETQhlSXIsR0
I did it to my controllers years ago, and not only did it make them feel almost brand new, but they still feel perfect after tons of usage.
