The only game I've got on pre-order is Bloodstained, which I backed so long ago I just want the flipping thing to get released before I die of old age. Seriously.

Just started a fresh playthrough of Resident Evil Revelations 2, on the difficulty level after normal, surprised since it's not been too challenging at all - perhaps I'm jumping the gun, or maybe playing Bloodborne and Dark Souls so much has toughened my resolve some.

The more I play RE 4+ the more appreciation I have for them, they're not survival horror games (RE2 remake and RE7 aside), but they're bloody well engineered games with a good sense of progression and exploration and they effortlessly just get on with things where so many action adventure/third-person shooters get boring at some point.

It's a combination of blind luck and persistence to find anything now. In the end it comes down to whether you're willing to travel and take time trying to find a bargain.

Restarted Bloodborne, which is rather stupid since I don't have masses of time and want to have a chance at beating the 52 game challenge this year (and was ahead of the game). Sod it. Been daydreaming about Yharnam for months.

The ZX Spectrum Next. This machine is a clone of the original computer, but also has its own new boosted base-spec and more graphics modes. It is not released yet - it was funded via Kickstarter:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1835143999/zx-spectrum-next

This page has further details:

https://www.specnext.com/about/

The machine has had a prolonged development history, but seems to be nearing completion. There are games in development for it, to be released digitally and on SD Cards:

http://www.spectrumnextgames.uk/

Despite it being very early days and pre-release, one particular developer http://www.softwareamusements.com/SpectrumNextGames/index.html has already released physical games on SD card, a couple of which I now own and would like to add to the database:

Your thoughts guys and gals?

Classic Video Games / Re: PS1 List of exclusive games
« on: March 03, 2019, 04:54:05 pm »
Retrocollect has a database which includes all PAL and NTSC (NA) PS1 games, with an option to include only 'exclusive' titles, I did the search here:

http://www.retrocollect.com/videogamedatabase/search?platform=8&platformexclusive=true&rows=200

Comes to 2089 releases (will include multiple versions of the same game due to the PAL/NTSC crossover and possibly variants).

That leaves the JP and other Asian releases (if applicable), no idea about those.

I can't speak to how different Claire A / Leon B is so it may be a more radical departure.

Somehow I doubt it, I think the scenario A/B and dual story thing was more of a ;) for fans who wanted as much connection to the original as possible rather than something that they couldn't have worked around in a single playthrough.

Scenario B Claire does have original stuff in it.  She gets to enter some rooms Leon can't, she deals with Sherry and someone else instead of Ada, she gets her own weapons, and it gets you the true ending.  It also unlocks the 4th Survivor challenge mode.  It certainly isn't all original and it's 80% what you did in Leon's, but basically Leon A/Claire B is the full campaign, even if Claire B isn't all original stuff.

That's cool, thanks for the info, even 20% bumps it further up my replay list than there being nothing there.

This isn't even a rare occurence for me, off the top of my head this happened with several xbox 360 games - Saw, Splatterhouse, Resi 5, Resi 6 and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic: Elements. The reverse is true as well, old favourites aging poorly or being replaced by something better, but it is surprising how many games i've gone back to and thought "what the hell was your problem?"

I had a feeling that the campaigns were basically the same game tinkered with inconsequentially, thanks for the confirmation - I'll save scenario B/Claire for a replay down the line.

Call me sacrilegious, but having recently played through the Japanese version of Game Paradise: Cruisin Mix, I found it massively underwhelming compared to several others I've played recently like Caladrius Blaze. Just my opinion, but I'm not seeing a God-tier shooter in it.

Working my way through the 'Capcom Belt Action Collection' (the beat em up collection, Japanese physical but in English!), on Knights of the Round now, then have the 2 newer and more obscure games left to play on it. After that I hope to start Earth Defence Force 5, looking forward to it :D

OK, thanks for the explanation  :)

:'( Ugh, the current image burns my eyes. Is there a way I can scan the English-language flip-side cover as a separate entry?
