Classic Video Games / Re: MOST EXPENSIVE GAME!
« on: May 13, 2013, 02:49:59 am »
Most I ever payed for a Single game was $300 on a Japanese Copy of Ninja Masters on Neo Geo AES. (when a game is worth $800-$1000, $300 is cheap) I've payed $100-250 on many AES games. This system is hell on the wallet. lol

I'm willing to pay $400-$500 on a few AES, NES games (and a few other consoles) If I had a chance for them at this price. Just hoping to find a game store looking to sell it at a reasonable price and not a ebay/amazon (priced to sit) price.

Most I ever payed for one gaming purchase is my N64DD with 7 games, modem, mouse, mircophone. all CIB. cost me $700.

I payed $5 for Earthbound CIB on a clearance rack at Toys R Us back in the late 90's never thinking one day it would be worth $500-800  :o
Funny thing I don't think i ever payed over $100 for any SNES game i own. Even Super Noah's Ark 3D I got lately was only $80.

Would I pay that much for Flintstones 2? No. I might go $500 if I had the money on hand but I just cant justify paying over that myself. I think the most I ever payed for a Single game was $300 and that was tough.

Your a reseller fox?  :o
There is a grey area in resellers, some are collectors who get stuff for their collection and sell the stuff they don't want or need. While most of us collectors would rather trade extra stuff then sell it,
they sell games to have money to buy stuff for their collection. Long as they act like a game loving collector and not a greedy reseller, they are okay by me. Just remember to be a collector first, seller second.  ;)

1114
Great pickups flea!  Can we give this man a round of applause!  It really is easier in some parts of the country. If there aren't a whole lot of collectors (more importantly resellers) in your area, you get the best deals around. But this guy puts in the leg work.  Good work, brother.

Thanks Turf, But you are right, I do put in a ton of leg work. To find those deals I usually hit over 50-100+ sales in one weekend. Spend about half a tank of gas. and maybe 1 out of 20 sales will even have anything game related. I head out at 7am and don't get home til after 2pm some days.
I have a ton of fun just hunting games.
I'm I "loaded" No, Nowhere near rich. If I was I'd buy every game I want on Ebay when ever I wanted. I have a great paying job, have no kids or wife. So this is what I do to enjoy my time.

As for the "Resellers" yes there's a ton of them out here. And I know most of them, Hell most of the resellers come up and talk to me like I'm one of them because they see me so often. Just gotta hope you hit a sale before they do. There was one sale this weekend I saw a Reseller at a table grabbing everything up and when I walked over I saw a box under the table he missed and that's how I got the Gameboy games this weekend. He looked pissed that I got some games he didn't. Poor baby.  :P

Then there was the day last year someone listed "tons of classic video games" in their add, so I showed up 30 minutes early and waited for the sale to open, then the resellers showed up one by one. They where bragging about stuff they found and sold and talked to me like i was one. I just ignored them. When the sale opened there was me and ten resellers. While they where scanning all the books/movies i asked the guy running the sale about the games, he said he didn't bring them out yet. So I waited by his back door and when he brought out a box, I set it down started to go through the box when all of a sudden I had 10 people reaching over me and grabbing anything they could. I yelled at them to back off and wait their turn. And they tossed the games they grabbed saying they where priced to high to make any money off of and stormed off. I've even had them say snotty comments at me in passing a few times because they know I buy video games and I'm not a reseller.

Personally I hate these guys, not just because they buy up video games but how they act towards collectors and also they make garage sale runners treat me as a reseller. I'll ask about a cheaper price on an item and I get told "why so you can sell it and make more money?" Then I pull out my phone and show them pictures of my collection, then they see I'm just a guy who just loves games and then they are all friendly to me. lol

When I meet collectors it's a different story, we share garage sales we're going to. Take down each others info, tell each other what we are looking for and we help each other out. Make trades, I even take other collectors with me and we have fun. So collectors are awesome, resellers can die.  :P

And when I talk about resellers It's just the guys who buy and sell on Ebay/Amazon, not the guys who run a used game store. They are usually cool and help us collectors out. Most of them don't garage sale anyway most of their stuff comes from people bringing games in the store. Even those crappy resellers, yes they also bring stuff in they can't sell for cash.

1115
Sorry to make everyone jealous. I love all collectors big and small.  :)
And now I'm gonna make you jealous again.  ::)
A friend of mine is going through a financial hard time and decided to sell some of his collection to me.
So on the way to his place I stopped at a few garage sales and found something.
- Magnavox Odyssey 300 (CIB)
- Coleco Tabletop Arcade: Pac-Man with Perma Power Adapter

Got them both for $30
Then bought from a friend...
- Bandai Wonderswan (green) (CIB)
- Shining Force III on Saturn (CIB)

and the best piece... (please don't hate me) lol
- M.U.S.H.A. on Genesis (CIB)  ;D

Classic Video Games / Re: WHICH CLASSIC GAME TO BUY???!!
« on: May 11, 2013, 12:49:46 pm »
Personally what I'd do when I'm looking for several pricey games at once.
Search for all of them, find auctions that are not the "buy it now" or have "make offer" then make offers to sellers at a lower price (not insulting low) and see if you can get a deal on one.
You'd be surprised how many good deals I've gotten this way.
Also the open bid auctions place your bid what you wanna pay and if you get it yay, if not move on.
Once you win one of these games. That's your find. Good luck and don't overpay like some people do in an open auction.
I always find it funny when people bid over what a they could have bought in a buy it now auction listed at the same time for lower.

As for the caps thing, ya its harder to read I agree, but IDC. If you are gonna write in caps I'd suggest spacing your sentences more like I'll show you below.

When I was reading this...
I ALWAYS LOVED THE CLASSICS AS A CHILD (SNES, NES, N64 ETC) AND LAST YEAR, I FOUND MOST OF MY SAME SYSTEMS I OWNED AS A KID IN STORAGE BOXES FROM MY MOMS.  SO I BROUGHT ALL THOSE OUT AND STARTED PLAYING THEM AND REALIZED HOW MUCH I USED TO LOVE GAMES AND THEY MADE ME VERY HAPPY.  AT THE SAME TIME, I NEEDED EXTRA MONEY FOR BILLS, SO I INVESTED SOME OF MY DREAMCAST AND GENESIS GAMES, SOLD THEM ON EBAY AND STARTED MAKING 500-700 A MONTH ON EBAY FOR BILLS.  I THEN STARTED GOING TO MY LOCAL GOOD WILL WAREHOUSE A FEW TIMES A WEEK WHERE I WOULD FIND PS2 CONSOLES, PLAYSTATION 1, N64, NES, ETC THAT I BUY FOR 5.00 EACH.  I WOULD SELL THEM ON EBAY FOR 30.00 TO 60.00 DEPENDING ON THE CONDITION AND TIMING.  I BEGAN REALIZING THAT I WOULD FIND SO MANY SPORTS GAMES AT MY LOCAL GOOD WILL RETAIL STORES AND THE 1 THRIFT STORE I HAVE IN MY CITY.  BUT ONLY SPORTS GAMES UNFORTUNATELY.  AS I BEGAN LEARNING THE GOOD WILL AND THRIFT STORE SYSTEM AND MY LOCAL FLEA MARKET AND EBAY COMPETITION, I LEARNED THAT MANAGERS OF MY LOCAL THRIFT AND GOOD WILL STORES, HOLD BACK THE GOOD COMPLETE GAMES AND GREAT CONDITION SYSTEMS, TO SELL TO SELECT PEOPLE WHO PAY THEM BACK DOOR MONEY.  AS A RESULT, I HAVE NO WAY OF GETTING ANY GREAT DEALS THIS WAY FOR CLASSIC GAMES.  MY BEST BET IS TO GET LUCKY ON EBAY, AND THERE MAY HAVE BEEN ONLY 1 TIME THAT I GOT LUCKY ON A GAME AND THAT WAS NOT A BIG DEAL.  JUST A N64 GAME NOT A SPORTS GAME.  OTHER THAN THAT, ONLY SPORTS GAMES.  SO I STILL CHECK STORES, BUT THE ODDS ARE EXTREMELY SLIM WHEN SOMEONE ELSE PAYS THE MGR TO HOLD BACK MERCHANDISE.  SO HERE IN MY CITY, THAT IDEA IS OUT THE DOOR FOR ME.  I COLLECT BECAUSE I LOVE GAMES AND THE PRESENCE MAKES ME HAPPY.  FOR NES, I PICKED OUT A SELECT 30 GAMES OR SO ON A WISH LIST, SAME FOR SNES AND GENESIS.  FOR N64, TURBOGRAFX 16, SEGA 32X AND SEGA CD ALONG WITH DREAMCAST, MY GOAL IS TO COLLECT ALL NTSC US GAMES RELEASED OFFICIALLY.  THE REASON I BACKED OFF THE 32X FOR A MOMENT, WAS WHEN I REALIZED THAT NES GAMES ARE GETTING MORE SCARCE BY THE DAY SO IT MADE ME WANT TO COMPLETE MY WISH LIST FOR NES AND SNES FIRST, THEN GET BACK TO 32X AND THE OTHERS.  THATS WHY I CREATED A PROFILE ON THIS SITE TO KEEP UP WITH ALL MY WISH LIST AND COMPLETED LIST.  I ALSO HAVE A WORD DOCUMENT AND EXCEL TO KEEP ORGANIZED WHICH IS SAVED TO A FLASH DRIVE.

It almost hurts your eyes trying to read so much in caps. But if you space out your sentences like this....

I ALWAYS LOVED THE CLASSICS AS A CHILD (SNES, NES, N64 ETC) AND LAST YEAR, I FOUND MOST OF MY SAME SYSTEMS I OWNED AS A KID IN STORAGE BOXES FROM MY MOMS.

We non-cap readers only have to take it in small douses and can get through it better. Personally I'd try and turn off the caps but I wont judge you if your don't, I'd still answer your questions.  GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR GAME HUNT.  :P

Been having some great luck lately on garage sales.
Stopped at another sale and they had a CIB Steel Battalion with controller.
I got it for $25, I have one and I figured I'm sure I can find someone who will want it. It's to good of a deal. Well I didn't open the box til I got home, and found it's the blue button version. This thing looks like it was never even used. I own a green button version so I guess I found someone who wants it. me.  ;D

Well the mailman came and gave me a special package. It's a new gaming console I can add to my collection, and it is one of my top 10 rarest consoles by far. And most of you most likely never heard of it. lol
 A Funtech Super A'Can

It was only released in Taiwan and came out about the same time as the PS1 and N64 and failed big time. It's graphics and gameplay are the same as a SNES. Only a small hand full of games where ever released on this thing. I got one game with it.
- Adventures in Africa

It's basically a Monopoly style party game that takes place on an African safari but what is funny is the characters you play are from 6 different countries and as Germany you play as Adolf Hitler. wow. the US you play as Madonna lol and Europe you play as Sherlock Holmes. Only in Taiwan. lol

I put in my order.

General / Re: Your favorite 3DO games
« on: May 05, 2013, 06:58:28 am »
just picked up some 3DO games and thought I'd share my thoughts on them.
 ;D = GREAT! Must own.
:D = Good, worth checking out.
 :) = Okay. playable.
 :-\ = Below Average
 :( = Poor.
 >:( = Garbage.

- Burning Soldier
Basic fixed camera first person view shooter. Not horrible but nothing to really worth hunting down.  :-\

- Starblade
Pretty much plays like Burning soldier, more colorful graphics, kinda reminds me of Starfox.  :)

- Wing Commander III
For a video game, some decent acting and a plot that makes you want to play. The special effects are horrible green screen CGI. You pretty much watch movies then blast ships out of space. worthy to play even though the effects look silly.  :D

- Deathkeep
A first person RPG, kinda choppy framerate and really hard at start due to limited items/weapons. (the archer starts with one arrow and you have to run and retrieve it, making you defenseless till you can run and pick it up)  Not to bad (for a 3DO game) but nothing great.  :-\

- Escape from Monster Manor
I bought this game knowing nothing about it, I was expecting a FMV adventure game but it turns out to be a Doom clone. A first person shooter Set inside a hunted Mansion and you shoot reapers and ghosts. It wasn't bad. I found this game to be playable. I only played a few levels and never found any new weapons or upgrades. Also found the gems and coins in the game pointless. But overall I would recommend this for people wanting to play something on the 3DO.  :D

- Sex, Endlessly & The Coven
These are those rare 3DO adult games, but they are NOT GAMES. They are horrible videos with a few shots of T&A. These are only to be bought by serious collectors looking to have a complete 3DO collection. The Sex one is nothing but clips to the other "games" with some perv giving stupid comments. These make Plumbers Don't Wear Ties look like a masterpiece. At least its a game. (sort of) lol  >:(

1123
After hitting that super subdivision garage sale here's my finds.
Found 7 TI99 games in a free box.
- Ms. Pac-Man
- Centipede
- Donkey Kong
- Protector II
- Moon Patrol
- Dig Dug
- Jungle Hunt

Also picked up...
XB360 - Over G Fighters
Wii - Dragon Blade

Then stopped at a grand opening of a new used Video Game store and picked up these gems. Everything CIB. Traded a bunch of extra stuff for most of it.
3DO - Burning Soldier
3DO - Deathkeep
3DO - Escape from Monster Manor
3DO - Star Blade
3DO - Wing Commander III
