Classic Video Games / Re: N64 DD game
« on: November 17, 2020, 08:54:54 am »
I own a complete N64DD game collection. Kyojin no Doshin: Kaihou Sensen Chibikko Chikko Daishuugou and Japan Pro Golf Tour 64 are the two rarest games for the system, from what I understand Kyojin no Doshin: Kaihou Sensen Chibikko Chikko Daishuugou was mail order only.
I was lucky to find the two rarest games at a game store in Denver for $400 for the pair.

I think everyone knew this was coming, I got two new gaming consoles.  ;)

XBSX
- Microsoft Xbox Series X
When I got off work at 3am, I rushed to my local Gamestop to see if people where in line yet for pre-orders. I get there and see over a dozen people camping out I ask if they knew how many Xbox Series X's they where going to take pre-orders for and they say 12. well I knew this place was a bust so I hurried to another smaller Gamestop not to far away. I get there and see three people camped out, they tell me this store was only getting four Series X and there was one left, so I got in line and waited till 10am to get my pre-order in.
I did get one game for it...
- Assassin's Creed: Valhalla - Gold Edition (whoops forgot it in photo)  :P

PS5
- Sony Playstation 5 (with disc drive)
The first set of pre-orders dropped while I was at work, I first called my bro to go get a pre-order and he failed. Then I just tried online. I tried Walmart, Target and Gamestop and all where having so many issues with their sites crashing I never got through. I got the system in my cart so many times only for the site to crash and I'd have to start over. I heard Amazon and Best Buy where posting their PS5's later so I kept watch. at 12am PS5's popped up on Best Buy's site and it took me two hours of crashes and never ending loads to finally get a order through and it showed up today.  ;D
Didn't pick up and PS5 games yet, thinking of getting Spider-Man or Demon Souls later, Gonna try out Ghost of Tsushima on it first.

I just picked this up today too...

Favorite:
1. SNES/Super Famicom
2. GENESIS
3. PS2

These are all systems I currently still have a lot of games I'm looking for and can find them in the wild.

Least Fav:
1. Bandai Pippin
2. Nichibutsu My Vision
3. Bandai Supervision 8000

Mainly because it's IMPOSSIBLE to find games for any of these consoles.
Honorable mention is AES and T16 just due to every game I'm missing is expensive, but its still exciting when I pick one up once in a blue moon.

General / Re: The Top 10 Most Wanted Items on Your Wishlist
« on: October 17, 2020, 11:46:50 pm »
Only 10?
geez, I could pick out the crazy holy grails like NWC90 or Air Raid for Atari but I'm going to pick 10 items I really want in my collection to play.

1. AdventureVision
2. Any Neo Geo AES game not already in my collection (ya kinda cheating, otherwise this whole list would be nothing but AES games) lol
3. Magical Chase (T16)
4. Little Samson (NES)
5. Wild Guns (SNES)
6. Demon's Crest (SNES)
7. Dynastic Hero (TGCD)
8. Harvest Moon (SNES)
9 . Keio Flying Squadron (SCD)
10. Any Sammy Atomiswave Game not in my collection

But if I won a contest saying I can have any 10 items video game related. I'd have to pick the holy grails. lol
1. Air Raid (2600)
2. NWC90 gold (NES)
3. NWC90 Grey (NES)
4. Stadium Events (NES)
5. Red Sea Crossing (2600)
6. Magical Chase (T16)
7. Birthday Mania (2600)
8. Gamma Attack (2600)
9. Ultimate 11 EU version (AES)
10. Kizuna Encounter EU version (AES)

I originally answered this post back in 2013, seven years ago. (my has time flown) and funny thing I now own most of what I listed. lol
I think the only one I didn't get was Magical Chase (well I got a repro if that counts)  :P
I got a few AES and most of the Atomiswave games I can play, think there's only a few left that are playable on the system I still need.
Of course I got none of the "holy grail" games. So I thought I'd update the list. I could just list nothing but consoles, but limited it to two systems and the rest games.

1. Magical Chase (T16)
2. Deawoo Zemmix (rare MSX game console released only in S. Korea)
3. Capcom CPS Changer (Capcom version of the AES)
4. Harmful Park (PS1)
5. Michigan Report From Hell (PS2)
6. Kyuiin (PS1)
7. Metal Warriors (SNES)
8. Bounty Bob Strikes Back (5200)
9. Futurama (PS2 or Xbox)
10. Any Neo Geo AES game not already in my collection (I can't help myself)  ::)

I'm sure I'm missing something but that's what I could think off.
In another 7 years I'll update the list again. lol

Here's all the launch consoles I've gotten over the years.

PS2
The first launch console I ever got, my mom got in line at a Best Buy while I was at work and once I got off I took her place. I didn't ask her she wanted to do it for me. The system ended up having a laser eye problem reading PS1 and Blue back discs later on and I had to replace it.

XBOX
My bro worked for Comp USA and was told if he wanted to get an XBOX on launch he could but he had to buy a bunch of warranties to get it. I gave him the money to get me one and I got it and Never had much issue with it. Still runs like a tank. Waste of money on those warranties (lol)

GAMECUBE
I remember getting in line at a Walmart right before they opened and rushing back to electronics and getting my little Black Launch Box. Still own it to this day, never had any issues with it.

PS3
Toys R Us was taking pre orders on the PS3 and the Wii on the same day, I camped out all night and was 3rd in line. we where told we could pick one, I picked the PS3 that was backwards compatible. Later it turned out to be harder to get a Wii then the PS3. Still own that system and it works fine.

PS4 & XBOX ONE
Didn't have any issues getting these consoles on launch, just was at Gamestop asked about pre orders and I put money down on both of them.
Both had no issues, still run to this day.

SWITCH
My Gamestop had a midnight opening to sell the console and when I got there I was 2nd in line and got a system and BotW. There was a small hand full of people there not to crazy. Never had any issues with the console still runs great.

XBOX ONE X
I wanted the Scorpio Edition and Gamestop sold out of pre orders and I thought I was screwed, I later saw Amazon posted pre orders and got one through them.
I got it a day after launch date and its still running great for games, only issue I've had with with it it doesn't seem to want to play DVD movies anymore.

SWITCH LITE
I wanted the Limited Edition Pokemon version. I was at Gamestop and they said they where out of in store pre orders but I could order online. So I had to pay the whole thing down and it came in the mail. I honesty have not opened the box. lol

PS5
With Sony dropping surprise pre orders and it was right as I was starting work, I tried to get my bro to get a pre order but it was too late. I was online on my phone trying to get though any place to get a pre order in with no luck. Best Buy was late with their pre orders and went up at midnight, it took me three hours of error screens and refreshes to finally get a pre order through. So far it hasn't been cancelled.

XBSX
I was stuck at work till 3am before I could go see if people where camping out side Gamestops. I get off and dash to the main store in my area and see there and see along line of people camping outside the store. The store had posted on their door they where only had 8 Series X pre orders, so I rushed to a smaller Gamestop and see 3 people camping out. They posted 4 Series X pre orders and I just stayed there. Once they opened I got my pre order done.

The rest of the consoles I got after launch date,

The Wii U I was in a Shopko and just happened to see one on the shelf and bought it a week after launch.
The system had issues booting up and I had to send it to Nintendo for repairs, haven't had an issue with it sense.

The XB360 I remember I had to work and again my mom offered to wait outside to help me get one, but she was sick with the flu and I told her no, I'll wait.
I got one about 3 months later and of course it got the red ring of death. I think I had to replace my 360 more then any console I own.

I picked up a Wii about 3 months after launch, people wanted to play Wii Sports and I was bringing it to game parties. Still runs fine never had an issue with it.

As for a PS4 Pro, I didn't feel the need to get one right away. My first and only Pro is the 500 Million Special Edition.

I'm assuming you ordered these from Special Reserve Games. How long did it take for you to receive these from the time you ordered them. Mine have been "In Transit" for nearly two weeks with no updates to the tracking info. I'm about to contact SRG and ask them what the hell is going on.

Strictly Limited Games (SLG), not Special Reserve Games (SRG). Strictly Limited is based in the UK so your order might've gotten held up in customs or fell victim to that nonsense Trump's lackey is doing with the post office. Incidentally, when they notified me of my shipment, it took a good 2-3 weeks afterward for it to show up.
Germany, not the UK.

And theflea, you didn’t order them 2 years ago, it was late last November.  :)
The 2 years statement was about his NIS America preorders.

The game that made the order so late was RPG Maker MV I guess it was delayed and held back the entire order.

While I reckon there are nightmare stories involving customs, I'm not convinced this mishap was their fault given how quick the seller was to refund the full price without question, as per theflea's word. From personal experience, most of the items I've bought from Japanese sellers have been packaged extrmely well, they pack ten times better than most US-based sellers, if I'm being honest; however, there's that 1% that just doesn't care, willing to ship an expensive item in a shoe box if given the option.

All things considered, congrats on the awesome acquisition - $275 for that is definitely a steal. It even has some battle scars to make it a bit more "authentic".

I took a lot of pictures and sent the seller them showing all the damage.
Yes I've order a ton of games and consoles from Japan and never had this issue. The TV was shoved into a box about the same size, no padding around the TV. He did put bubble wrap around the games and controllers. Lol
Odds are it fell in shipping and this caused the damage.
Just happy it was able to be saved.

I got an item I've wanted for my collection ever sense I found out it existed, but it was a tough road to get it.

SNES
I traded a copy of Mega Man 7 for this game I needed.
- Sparkster

SFAM
- Sharp SF1 (Super Famicom built into a TV)
This system felt like a curse for me to get, The first time I almost got the TV was over a year ago, I won a bid for about $600 for one from Japan. Well four months pass and the seller during this time kept telling me "It was sent" or "I'll look into it" but it never came. I look up on Ebay and see the same SF1 I bought (same pictures and game that came with it) was relisted and now at a higher price then I won it for. I was mad. I had to contact Ebay and Paypal to get my money back and Ebay banned the seller.

I was searching for another SF1 that wasn't priced over a grand, One finally appeared with a make an offer, so I made an offer of $700 and the seller agreed and I payed him the $700 + $50 to ship it FedEx. A week passes and I don't see the seller sending it, I contact him and he tells me it will be shipped out soon. I finally see it was shipped and get a tracking number and think okay it's on the way.
Two weeks pass and a giant box shows up. YAY!! I open it up and can't believe what I saw, he shipped it with NO PROTECTION. Just shoved it in a box and mailed it. The outer shell was cracked up so bad it barely held together. There was a hole in the top, the inside board was rattling inside the TV it wouldn't even turn on. I was upset and contacted the seller and filed for a refund. He contacts me and gives me a full refund except for the shipping and tells me to keep it. Okay so I now paid $50 for a trashed SF1. I knew I had to try and save it. I took it to a guy I knew who repaired video game consoles, He was wasn't sure about taking on the project but took it as a challenge. Plus he was a huge Nintendo fan and he too wanted to see this TV saved. He got the board back in place and repaired much of the back and the hole in top. You can still see some scaring but its looks so much better. It turned on but the picture was messed up.
He was not a TV repair and couldn't repair the tube. So he found me a guy who repairs TVs and he thought I was nuts wanting to repair a CRT TV tube. lol I explained how rare this TV was and he said he could fix it. He not only fixed the tube to look great, but repaired a few more of the cosmetic damage that the other guy wasn't able to get to to fix. In the end with repairs and shipping cost this rare piece of gaming history cost me $275. Even with it's scars, I still would be willing to pay that for it.  ;D
It also came with two controllers, and five games, (three where in a pickup update post I made a few weeks ago, I listed them as "free")
The games where; Super Adventure Island, Final Fight 2, Super Puyo Puyo 2 Remix, Street Fighter 2 and Super Fire Pro Wrestling 2.
I already own the last two. Overall I'm happy to add this to me collection, just happy it was able to be saved.  ;D ;D

Found a garage sale that had two random SNES games, I picked up one I was missing for $2. (the one I didn't buy was Super Tennis)
- Jeopardy!

NES
I looking for garage sales last week and followed a sign and saw a lady setting up for a garage sale in her garage. I stopped and I find out the lady wasn't having a sale til next week. I ask if she had any thing video game she was planning to sell and she tells me she had an Atari 2600 and a NES she was thinking of selling. I tried to get her to bring them out that day but she wouldn't.  :(
So I took notice of the address and come back the next week first thing. I get there and see a table full of newer video games, XB360, Wii, Wii U and they where all scrap titles at $5-10 a piece. (nothing I wanted or needed) I ask about the Atari and NES and she tells me she only found the NES and hasn't put it out yet.  ;D
She pulls out a small box with a NES and about nine games. I ask a price and she tells me her husband looked up Ebay and wants $80 for the system alone or $120 for everything. :o
I ask about the games and she says $5 each except for the Mario games she wanted $10, (there was three copies of Mario 3 for some reason). I grab two and paid her the $10 and was happy with that.  ::)
- Duck Tales
- Jurassic Park
I left behind, Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt, Super Mario 3 (x3), Tetris, Excitebike and Micky Mousecapade.

There still are not a lot of garage sales in my area, but still finding a few decent finds worth going out and hunting.  ;)
