Had a power outage the other day and took the chance to hotspot on my phone and download Stardew Valley on the Switch. I played the hell out of the game on PC and so far am having just as much fun on the Switch. The controls took a little bit of getting used to and its not quite as easy to do precision things targeting is sort of odd but its serviceable. Still a great game.

I got a 4k tv last year in December, 55" LG off Newegg for around $700 or $800. I needed to replace the dying old Plasma I inherited from my folks so it worked out. Its great, love the picture quality, its not an OLED but still looks incredible with HDR. I have a ps4 pro as well and to me the difference is pretty impressive.

Mine is a really bad photoshop effort of a random logo I found online to fit the name I typically use.

As a means of providing a larger game download size and avoiding downloading it, I'll always take physical over digital in that regard. With my shit 768kbps download speeds its much faster for me to install off of a disc or at least the majority of a game and just download the day one patches than it is for me to download a 30gb+ game that I likely won't be able to start playing for a month after purchase.

Finished up my final puzzle in Picross on the Switch the other night so can finally put that  away, fuck the mega picross puzzles in general. I'm now bouncing between Zelda Breath of the Wild and Metal Gear 5. Really need to get the pro controller for switch I've found I really do not like using the joy cons either in mobile mode or on the controller mount in a game like Zelda.

I got a lot of satisfaction with using the stylus on the DS and 3DS versions of Picross. How was it for you on the Switch?
I personally prefer the dpad and buttons over the stylus on the DS/3DS versions, so the Switch version was no issue for me.  The Switch version I don't believe offer any form of touch screen controls.

I'm like halfway through the Mega Picross puzzles, but the Mega Picross puzzles use the same solutions as the regular Picross puzzles, you just go about it differently.  It's kind of disappointing that they just reused the puzzles from regular mode.

I only went through the first 2 pages of mega puzzles and ya the repeat pictures with mixed up solutions just weren't doing it for me, I just don't like the mega addition in general compared to the normal puzzles, I'm looking forward to trying the 3D puzzles on 3DS though since I haven't played those before.

I thought it worked well, I've never played the earlier titles on DS or 3DS so I can't really compare. I got the game off of a Giant Bomb quicklook video and the one playing it is a big fan of the previous 3D titles and he seemed to act like it was just fine playing with the dpad and controls over using a stylus.

Off Topic / Re: What Are You Listening to Right Now?

Have started listening to rap and hip hop over the past year or so, never got into it growing up. Kendrick Lamar's last two albums have been on a lot lately and recently Big K.R.I.T's new album as well. Besides that the EP dropped by Rina Sawayama is great, feels like a perfect throwback to early 2000's pop music but with more modern sounding instrumentals.

The whole event around Black Friday sucks. Nothing I'm looking to nab deals wise for games, no modern consoles I feel I want that I don't have or modern games. I'll keep an eye on amazon's deals and other online retailers but likely won't set foot in a store, though I'll be working so won't have much choice in that case.

The only editor I regularly played with was the Warcraft 3 editor. I never made anything of significance, I made a lot of "terrain showcase" maps, just fancy terrains for screenshots, posted a fair bit on a warcraft modding website. I tried a lot to get into the unreal editor but never got invested enough to make anything significant.

Modern Video Games / More obscure Switch game recommendations?
« on: November 06, 2017, 06:22:31 pm »
I just got my Switch about two weeks ago now and am looking for any recommendations from people who have had theirs for a while and have picked up some of the lesser known titles either physically or digitally. I'm aware of pretty much all of the major titles on the system since there are so few, so if anyone has gotten any of the "dime-a-dozen" titled anime games digitally, or any other neat games that might not get much coverage or discussion, I'd love to hear about them. I'd say I'm mostly interested in RPGs genre wise but I've found with Picross the Switch has turned into an amazing puzzle console for me, until I finish that at least.

I've been playing some Destiny 2 on PC for the past week or so. I'm enjoying it so far.

Nice - most folks I know have been playing in on PS4. You think it plays well on the PC so far?

Also, welcome to the forums!

I've put probably 5 or 6 hours into Destiny 2 on pc so far, after playing Destiny 1 on ps4 quite a bit, playing essentially the same thing on pc feels pretty great to me. The game runs great though my system is pretty beefy. I do run into some visual stutters and lag but I'm sure that's down to my garbage dinosaur internet and not an issue of optimization.

I'm primarily playing Metal Gear Solid 5 at the moment still, after restarting I'm right about where I stopped playing before. Unfortunately I also just got my Switch along with Zelda so, I'm tentatively trying to decide how I want to tackle this change in circumstances. I'm probably going to stick with Metal Gear for now and hold off on really diving into Zelda though I've poked around a bit in it already. Problem is I've spent pretty much all of my free time playing Picross on Switch, my first Picross game, incredibly addictive.

On pc I also started playing Divinity Original Sin 2 a bit, took me all month to get it finally downloaded and now I'm not sure if I can dedicate the time to it with these other two mammoth games waiting on me. Time is definitely in demand for me work wise not just with games and these large games sure aren't helping.

Also have Destiny 2 to download for pc, that will also throw a major wrench into my game time allotment.

Retro - Working on GTA2 on PS1. In modern, I'm working through Stardew Valley on Switch and also Overwatch on XB1. I can't stop. It's a rough, rough addiction! I need those halloween skins!

Have you played Stardew Valley on other platforms? I'm curious how it all compares between the various platforms.

Yes! I've played it on PC before making the jump onto the Switch. In my opinion, it looks and feels exactly the same. The only difference is the load/save times on switch are much longer than on PC. But that is my only gripe. It's worth picking up! They really made the controls very intuitive as well, which was a worry of mine when I first heard that it was going to the Switch.

With how much time and long nights I put into this game on pc, and my Switch shipping soon, this sounds like a bad/amazing combination for sitting in bed and not sleeping.
