Galactic Attack (Layer Section)

Dodonpachi (used to be cheaper than I am currently seeing it. Keep an eye out, you can find it cheap depending on what you look for on condition).

Darius Gaiden

There are others that are surprisingly above $35: Thunder force and Batsugun for example. It seems like they used to be a lot cheaper. But Galactic Attack and Darius Gaiden are good ones. I had purchased galactic attack for a dollar a few years ago.

My dad video taped me at 3 years old playing Pac-Man for the 2600.
I'm pretty sure this is child abuse :D

Second wat Soera wrote.

You have some publishers that will chance and specialize in niche games. These releases will be done in very limited runs due to not wasting money on adverts, left over stock, etc. This is why ATLUS games can be hard to find. However, ATLUS seems to be getting out of niche status a bit.

Sega does extremely limited runs of DS games. I was aware of Infinite Space. I wanted Infinite Space. I looked for Infinite Space when it came out. I still had a heck of a time tracking it down.

A lot of niche titles also get imported which is a reason they are not brought over. The XBOX 360 is a fantastic shmup console. Most are never localized but almost all of them are made region free. This is a niche genre that most publishers stay away from because fans know how to import and there is little difference in the releases if it is localized.

I want to play it, but I'm gonna wait for it to get super cheap. Just my style and I have a backlog. But it does look amazing.

You can get a brief history and then hear James Rolfe, the angry video game nerd, read the Mega Man 2 novel. I don't know why one would want to do this. But here it is:

General / Re: Loose GBA carts

I second the trading card holder idea. This has been the best solution I have seen people do. DS cases are nice but once you get to about a 100 games this seems insanely space consuming (just imagine adding this to your already existing DS collection). I recently focused and sold most of my games due to taking up too much space. It becomes a pain. Plus, it can get expensive. So, I go cart only on most things. I even do this on Genesis when boxes are fairly easy to find and cheap. I just don't want to deal with it anymore.

I'm ok with Jewel cases and DVD cases.

Ultimately, it comes down to taste.

Modern Video Games / Re: Pokemon X and Pokemon Y

I'm already predicting that a third one will eventually come out called Pokemon Z.

I won't bet on it, though. Lots of people were expecting a Pokémon Gray version, which never happened. I'm happy it didn't, though, because I kinda hated to buy the game on the first day, then people late to the party got to have an improved game. It defeats the purpose of being an early buyer if its a disadvantage. So I'm personally hoping for no Pokémon Z :P

Call me a sucker, but I tend to buy both the original and the improved game of pokemon. The "improved" version usually comes at a time when I don't mind revisiting the game. Pokemon seems to be the only series I can see doing that though (I'll never repurchase a game due to a GOTY edition for example).

Off Topic / Re: What music do you listen to??
« on: January 13, 2013, 11:04:49 pm »
I listen to a lot of different music. But if I had to pick one general genre it would be punk. I haven't found a subgenre of it that I don't like. My favorite is the late 80s Lookout Records scene.

I also like a specific subgenre of electronic music alot, IDM. See "Boards of Canada" for examples.

I personally hope for D&D Tower of Doom and Mystaria arcade games.
The D&D licenses are all sorts of screwed up. It might not happen. :(

This is true. And that makes me sad.  :'(

The story states they will be releasing cherished arcade games. So, NES games like Duck Tales 2 may not make it for more than just licensing.

I personally hope for D&D Tower of Doom and Mystaria arcade games. I only know of these on the japanese saturn and it carries a decent price as well.

1) Terminator 2
2) Gattaca
3) Ferris Beuller's Day Off
4) Lost in Translation
5) Robocop
6) 10 Things I Hate About You (shut up!)
7) Alien
8) Star Trek 8: First Contact
9) Shawshank Redemption
10) American Beauty

Could easily be swapped with some of the above depending on mood

Blade Runner
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

Pokemon is always good.* So, I'm excited. I've only seen a little though. Red/blue is still one of my favorite games. And I do enjoy the new stuff as well.

* As long as you are not taking pictures, playing pinball, in a puzzle game, saying "Hey you, Pikachu!", or various other activities.

General / Re: How often do you save?
« on: January 12, 2013, 08:45:18 pm »
I save all the time. This is actually a habit at work/school as well. When working on a program or document I automatically put in the keyboard shortcut for a save after most ideas/sentences.

That is a sweet 3DS. Fire Emblem is definitely my favorite Nintendo franchise. So, I might be biased...
