Classic Video Games / Re: Famicom from Japan

I have also bought a lot of stuff from ebay japan and can honestly say that it has been better to deal with them than any US seller. The only thing that sucks, like everyone else has stated, is the shipping time, you either get to pay a lot, sometimes more than the item itself, or you have to wait awhile.

Modern Video Games / Re: Wii U

I really do like the wii u, I think it has a lot of potential especially if developers utilize the controller more. I think that some of these games will really help the wii u's sales, but I also don't think Nintendo really needs to worry about the competition just yet. Not to hurt anyone's feeling or anything but the PS4 really doesn't have a whole lot of must have games at it's launch and we all know what kind of trouble the Xbox one is in right now...
P.S. Holy crap! I really am hoping for a new Metroid, there's way too much potential with the controller and HD to not have a Metroid game

Classic Video Games / Re: Sega Saturn

For me Im really into early to mid 90's arcade games and Sega really tried to bring that experience home, a lot of my favorite arcade ports are on the Saturn and dreamcast. I grew up as a Nintendo fanboy and didn't really realize how many great games are exclusive to sega consoles. I love retro Nintendo for basically taking games and popularizing story telling in games, Zelda, Metroid even Kirby, I love Sega for bringing home the arcade, any... well Capcom port, obviously Sega ports. Don't get me wrong Sega has some fantastic RPG's but the arcade games is where it's at for me.

General / Re: Can you plan to start collecting?
« on: October 29, 2013, 09:06:03 pm »
I think in recent years collecting games has grown because of stuff like AVGN, and it's both a good thing and a bad thing. On one hand it's nice to see the whole idea of collecting games grow, however it can be harmful too like sin2beta said people rush in and quit doing it right away and prices skyrocket because of stuff like that.
I myself got into the idea of collecting when I was little, I grew up with the snes and didn't get a next-gen console until 1999,PS1, I didn't want one. I realized the only way to get super Nintendo games was at a local retro store, that actually closed last year unfortunately, but seeing all these games that I heard about and wanted to play I think cemented that into my brain. It wasn't until I got older and had a job and could afford that stuff I just went crazy.

There is also a lot of great classic shoot em up compilations on it too. Parodius, Gradius and Salamander just to name a few. They can get kind of pricey since they were Japanese exclusives but still awesome.
I think it's a neat handheld unfortunately mine doesn't get used too often as I generally don't collect a lot for handhelds and I'm not the biggest RPG fan either.

Classic Video Games / Re: Unreal Tournament and Quake Series
« on: October 23, 2013, 10:36:07 pm »
I've actually always preferred the Quake series, the first one on PC is the best, but if you want a console port get the N64 version because it feels the most like the PC version. I too really don't like the N64 controller but if I remember correctly the controls are customizable. I don't recommend the Saturn version at all, I mean its neat that they were able to pull it off on the Saturn but it runs on a different engine and doesn't have as good of a frame rate as the N64 version.
While you're at it also pick up Doom 64, that game is so awesome. A buddy of mine and I recently played through it and it's really is a lot better than I remember, the music alone is fantastic.

I've had good luck with both models, I've had to change the fuses on a couple different ones, but since then they've worked great. If you're looking for a model 1 just keep in mind that they are a little harder to work on because of the sliding tray.
P.S. I've got a model 2 for sale

I just recently beat Duke Nukem Forever, not a great game but I did enjoy it, and Gears of war 1 and 2. Im now putting a lot of time into Mass Effect. Im actually thinking of getting "The Doctor Who Cloned me" DLC for Duke Nukem, if anyone has played it, let me know if it's worth $10

Nice finds guys! I just moved about two hours away where I used to live and have only really had time to check out a few thrift stores, I got some genesis games, nothing too special, but today I actually found an Import Ridge Racer type-4 with the Jogcon all in box and Secret of Mana as well. My dad also gave me his nice 40 inch LED Tv, so I picked up some HDMI cables for the ps3 and 360, awesome stuff
