General / Re: What Are You 2013 Game Collecting Goals
« on: January 02, 2013, 12:26:12 pm »
I don't have any real goals, per-say, but I would like to get a PSP and Vita this year, as well as a 3DS.  Would also like to get games for said handhelds.  For some reason I've been focusing more on handheld games for the past few months...  *shrug*

I'd also like to work on whittling down my wishlist.

Hey Soera, I'm into piercing too.  :)

At least, I used to be...  I was going to start piercing part-time while doing my photography full-time, but then I had to move to the middle of nowhere...  Now I'm a manager with a corporation that puts a strong emphasis on a "wholesome" image - so no more piercings for me.  I no longer have any of my facial piercings, and had to take out the more "extreme" ones in my ears too.  :(

Aside from video games, I'm also a huge film geek (horror, silent, Criterion, artsy-fartsy).

I <3 Zombie Nation's Kernkraft 400 (there have been a lot of remixes and covers too), but I had no idea it was used at sporting events!

Shows how much I know about sports.  :P

General / Re: What are you playing?

I just finished the Dragonborn expansion for Skyrim. Seemed VERY short. I completed the main-quest in one-day, today. And that's after getting sidetracked on quite a few sidequests, random exploring, and internet browsing.
After hearing how quickly you went through it I think I'm glad I didn't buy it.

I also heard it was very short.

I haven't had the chance to play Skyrim yet, but I did purchase the Hearthfire DLC for 200 M$ Points on the last day of their XBL sale.  My boyfriend has started to play the game, and it makes me want to play it even more...   :-\

General / Re: Types of games you'd like to see

I'd love to see something in the same vein as the old Dungeon & Dragon RPG games for Amiga/C64.  Or even something like the old point-and-click adventure games (Kings Quest, Kyrandia, etc.).  Something that evokes that same kind of magical feeling.  I only got that kind of feeling from one "recent"-ish game, The Last Journey.  Perhaps I'm too nostalgiac, though...   ;)

I also second The Last Guardian.

I'd love to see a good JRPG, with the mythology and art-style of Western RPGs.

Like I want it to have the traditional experience, level-up, and menu-based battle system of a JRPG, but I want to see creatures and artwork from a Western sensibility. I want to see some bad-ass looking warriors, evil-looking mages, huge fire-breathing dragons, Elves, Orcs, Dwarves, Trolls, etc. And I want to see a Western art-style, rather than a Manga-influenced art-style.

I'd buy that!

I would too!

Poop.  I wish I had known about this sale earlier...  I didn't even get an email about it!   :-\

Site Feedback / Re: genre and sub-genre

... I was thinking a possible "Multi"/"other" (or a better word if someone has one) for games that are commonly argued about & disputed over where they belong (something like games w/ equal amounts of elements from 3 or 4 (or more:) different "Main" genres...

Agreed.  Having "Other" available as a "genre" may just cover all the... well, other stuff.  :P

The Goodwill in my town will rip you right the eff off.  I think there's some guy in the back checking eBay pricing or something...  Last time I went in there I found a few crap Game Boy carts at $10 - $15 and Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening was priced at $20!  At Goodwill?!   :o

I got lucky in there a while back and got a handful of decent SNES carts (some with manuals) for like $2 or $3 apiece.  I don't think that guy was working there then...

I was going to give some props to Viking: Battle for Asgard but it seems to be getting plenty of love.  Which is a good thing I enjoyed the game a lot.  Crank up some Amon Amarth during the siege battles and lay waste to everything.

I still have to beat it on hard, but it took me better part of 2 hours and an uncountable number of continues to beat the last boss the first  time.  So I'm a little daunted by it.

Don't give up man it can be beaten.  Learning the Valkyries slash? or whatever is pretty much the bread and butter of that fight.

Nice!  I'm glad to see others enjoyed the game as much as I did.  You're right, Burningdoom, it's terribly underrated.

And thanks for the encouragement, ffxik.  I'll have to give it another go.  :)
