Marketplace / Japanese Import Smash 3DS and Old Atari Booklets
« on: July 09, 2016, 11:44:24 am »
Hi all, I'm looking to unload a Japanese copy of Smash for 3DS that I picked up

It has only been opened by me to confirm that the game was infact in the case.  I'm looking for $40 (which includes shipping), or a comparable trade.

I also have some old Atari Brochure Booklets (2 from 1981 and 1 from 1982)
I'm not too sure of how much they are worth, but I'd be willing to entertain any reasonable offers.

I'm really only looking to ship in the US, and I do PayPal.

Also have a couple of other things on eBay if anyone wants to take a look.

There's this new string of outlet stores opening in the Middle Tennessee area (Bargain Hunt) that has a date on all of their price tags, so the longer something is in the store the cheaper it gets.  The newer locations are having a flat 50% of deal on all video games (since the date thing doesn't work if they've only been open 2 weeks).

Really? That's awesome. I live in Middle Tennessee so I'm going to have be on the lookout for all of this stuff.

Yeah.  It's been great for certain things.  I don't think that you'll ever find anything classic, but there have been some newish games I've managed to snag at decent prices.  And then there's the risk of seeing something they put out with a last weeks date on it, and coming back week after to week to see how low the price gets before it disappears or it is a low enough price that you want to get it.  I lost out on a NeoGeo Gold playing that game of chicken.

They also have decent LEGO sets occasionally.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find any console with a decent library size that could be unequivocally called boring.  There just has to be something that you enjoy in there somewhere.  Especially on the 360 (can't speak quite as much to the PS3).  Don't like the AAA titles?  X-Box live has some phenomenal games that are as radically different from COD and GTA that you can get.

So far this month I have picked up:

PSP
Hot Shows Golf
Dual Pack: Syphon Filter / SOCOM

PS1
Skydiving Extreme

Vita
Lumines

Wii U
007 Legends

PS3
Dead Space 2
ICO / Shadow of the Colossus Collection

All for around $20, and that is after the ICO / Colossus was $13 of it.

And I also picked up Demon's Souls (PS3) at a Used Media store that I still have tons of credit at after buying a crate full of CDs at a yard sale for $15.  That credit has also previously been used for Mad Max (PS4) and Dragon Warrior (NES)

Here's where I stand for the year now:

Cities: Skylines
Super Mario Maker
Mike Tyson's Punch Out!!
Tomb Raider (2013)
Alien: Isolation
Mega Man X2
LEGO Marvel's Avengers
Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright
Broforce
Halo 3: ODST
Dark Souls
Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows
New Super Mario Bros. U
Max Payne 3
South Park: The Stick of Truth
Mega Man
Mega Man 2
Imperialism
Castlevania: Circle of the Moon
Mad Max
Lumines: Electronic Symphony
Doom (2016)

I spent way too much time on Mad Max going for 100% completion.  It's not a particularly great game, and I don't even really know why this was one where I had to get.  Every.  Single.  Collectible.  Going to take a break from anything too heavy before I move on.  I spent WAY too much time on it.

Found an imported Smash Bros 4 3DS at a rummage sale for $5.  Best deal I've found in a while.

Overrated:

PewDiePie.  Do I need to say anything else?
Markiplier.  And I say this as someone who kinda likes him.  I find him utterly charming when he guests on other shows, but his main channel can get annoying.
AlphaOmegaSin. Something about him just rubs me the wrong way.
MetalJesusRocks.  Seems like a cool dude, but he can be a bit boring.

Right where they should be:
Game Grumps
Cinemassacre (AVGN)

Underrated:
The Completionist.  Dude knows his stuff, and the videos are generally entertaining.
PeanutButterGamer.  I find him hilarious.
PressHearttoContinue.  Dodger seemed poised to become a huge YT star, then it just sort of poofed.
TheWarpZone.  I just wish they put out more content.

I have a sealed copy of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 I bought at a charity auction that has the autographs of pretty much the whole American voice cast.

Otherwise, anything I have sealed is just because I haven't gotten to playing it yet.

The Walking Dead season one gave me the feels lol. I think that's the only one that made me tear up a little.

This.

And "Had to be me.  Someone else would have gotten it wrong."  If you've played, you'll know.

I just got a boxed copy of Dune 2000 (PC) for $1 at an overstock / outlet store here called Yard Sale USA.  I always loved Command and Conquer, so it was a nice cheap find.

Something I haven't seen mentioned yet:

See if there are any local social media (IE Facebook) groups dedicated to buying and selling (Yard Sale Groups, Swap Meet Groups, etc).  I've managed to get most of the deals I've gotten over the last year via local Yard Sale group (36 NES games for $40, Mega Man X 1 and 2, 7th Saga and a SNES for $100).  It can be a bit competitive depending on the members, and you'll have some resellers or people asking a bit too much occasionally, but I find it is generally the cheapest way to find titles online.

It can also help get heads up on local physical sales and flea markets.

Yeah, creating arbitrary goals for myself is definitely one of the best ways I have found to power through games (or spend time playing something that I'm starting to find dull).

I've mostly played 3 games so far this year:

Cities: Skylines- I pretty much stopped playing once I got the City to the largest "achievement size"
Super Mario Maker - You can't really beat this I suppose, but I've finished Expert mode several times over now.
Mike Tyson's Punch Out!! - I've recent set up my office where I can stream my retro consoles to Twitch (or where ever), and this was my pilot run.  Just beat Tyson this morning.

Update:
Tomb Raider (2013)
Alien: Isolation
Mega Man X2
LEGO Marvel's Avengers
Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright
Broforce
Halo 3: ODST
