Off Topic / Re: What kind of car do you drive/ Dream car?

I drive a 2012 Camry. My dream car would be a Nissan GTR or a mid 80s Toyota Supra in sully restored condition.

From a collector standpoint, I would go Nintendo. I like the length of history. You miss out on 8-bit and 16-bit gaming with Sony. And these are my favorite generations to collect for.

Either way, you can't lose.

I actually started out collecting nothing but Sony about 6 years ago. But I ran into hardware issues on several systems. It doesn't seem to be the norm that people experience. But it kind of soured the experience.

Finally finished doing inventory and organizing the game room.  Not quite happy, so I might reorganize down the line, and I want to put up a line of shelves around the top of the room.

Looks fantastic.

Another vote for NBA Jam here.

As a more simulation focused sports game, I always enjoyed the 2K sports series from the dreamcast days. They were the first simulation style sports games I got into.

If they were real  :D

I'd go to a strip club with Ash Ketchum. Then I'd go camping with Duke Nukem

This is my favorite thread in all of VGCollect. I love snooping on other peoples game rooms.

This post has no substance to it. Just wanted to state it.

Hate is a strong word, but I try to avoid them. I like to think that it is a display thing on the shelf. I don't like seeing the bright colors compared to the colors. However, I will admit that if I really look at myself, there is a bit of a hipster attitude in me regarding these labels. "I bought the game before it everyone else did." Final Fantasy 7? Yeah I was into that on day one!

Classic Video Games / Re: Mini NES Classic Ediiton

I'm all for the NES mini. I would love to collect for the NES. It would be my next system in theory, however, I don't want to devote the space to another system. Having 30 games at my disposal with a more console like feel than an emulator on a PC would be great. I will probably pick this up. It is a great selection of games.

Edit:
I would like to see double dragon 2 removed and replaced with Contra. They have gradius after all. Or at the very least replace it with the original double dragon.

Just got four mac (OS 9 and earlier) in the mail. It was an eBay lot. I mainly got it for the LucasArts game full throttle. It was factory sealed even. It also came with Sim City 2000, steel soldiers, and a Texas Hold 'em game. But yeah, mainly for Full Throttle and Sim City. I'm happy with $27 for it.

General / Re: What is your favorite Hack & Slash game?

I loved lollipop chainsaw. Usually hack n slash brea me after a while. I usually prefer beat em ups like Tower of Mystaria or dungeon crawlers like Diablo. But Lollipop Chainsaw is one of the few I plan to replay and try to 100%.

This is pretty much exactly what I wanted. Sonic mania looks great. Not able to see much of the other game. But it does seem obvious that it is Sonic Generations 2. And that is perfectly alright with me. Sonic Generations is one of my favorites from the last gen. I also like the PC support for both. I do find it interesting that the NX is only for generations and not mania as of now.

I slowed down myself when buying a place and paying off debt. The cool thing is that you may come out with more disposable income than you had before. My mortgage is cheaper than my previous rent. It's also essentially rent control when thinking of just a month to month expense (even better thinking long term). You may be able to come back to collecting stronger than ever once the desire and means return.

General / Re: What console do you think has the best controller?
« on: July 14, 2016, 05:47:01 pm »
I think people mainly get used to what they use a lot. My favorite controller of all time is the Genesis 3-button controller. I also love the xbox one controller. I miss the VMU mainly on the dreamcast controller, however, the d-pad prevents it from being a favorite. They might as well have put a cheese grater in place of the DC d-pad. That thing is brutal on your thumb.

I am currently playing Tropico 4 after picking it up on the steam store. Played 15 hours in the last 3 days. I'm enjoying it quite a bit.

This game has some terrible reviews online. I didn't think it was bad. I only tried out the first level, but it was fun enough for a 3D beat-em up. It also changes the gameplay up a little with magic-spells and beat-riding attacks, so it's not just mashing the attacking button.

Now, had I paid full price when it came out, I would be a bit upset. It feels like a game that's a generation behind; like it should have been released on the PS2 or original XBox. But since I'm a retro-gamer anyways, and I paid under $10 for it, that didn't bother me.

This was my take on the game as well. I think it is a solid buy for a cheap used game. Hardly a horrible game. I think if they made the game shorter (it does go on a tad too long) and made it a budget release, it would have been decently well received.
