While I haven't finished the game, I did I like RE3, and a remake would certainly be welcomed. Here's hoping that they give Dino Crisis a shot in a near future...

I bought RE3 Nemesis on release day long, long ago. That f'ker kept me on the edge of my seat the whole game. Bastard just kept popping up groaning "STARRRRRS!"   :o

Modern Video Games / Re: How important are graphics to you?

While I do love eye candy, 4K ZOMG!!! graphics aren't that important. Aesthetics, style and artistic design are much more important. That's part of why I love Nintendo games so much. The style is top-notch and the 1080p graphics of the Switch are great. I'll take games with visual flair over the latest 4K AAA game going for lifelike graphics any day.

That being said, racing games I do put strong emphasis on having good graphics.

Thanks!  I was actually in St. Louis yesterday. I always say I'm gonna stop at Best Buy but I never do. Well, swing in there yesterday and walked out with the Guardian, a Mario Nendoroid and Yooka-Laylee for Switch!   :P

I've had several times where my heart just wasn't in it anymore. The first was in late 1992. I was just out of high school and got my first "real" girlfriend. By that, I mean my first nookie. Lol. And it was all I thought about. So my SNES, my Genesis and my comic collection took a big backseat. A year later, I moved on and met my first wife. Her mom was a big gamer and we played a lot of SNES games. That lasted about six months, but the only game I personally bought in that time period was Contra III.

I took another break until the end of 95 when I got my first PlayStation. I also got a Saturn from my friend in early 98. I kept gaming hardcore until about 2007 when my 360 red-ringed playing Bioshock. I quit gaming for the most part again for a few years until around when Halo Reach came out.

I've had small stints of not playing since then until January 2017 when we found out my wife was pregnant. I sold almost all of my collection. My PS4 and Xbox One sat unloved. My Wii and Wii U were tucked away in their boxes. It wasnt until my wife got me the NES and SNES Classics that my love was rekindled. Then I got the Switch and the collector in me went back into overdrive.

Marketplace / Looking for original Game Boy box!
« on: January 22, 2019, 09:26:24 pm »
Hey all!  Looking for an original Game Boy box, NTSC US Version. It can be either the vanilla "system only" box or the Tetris bundle box. Preferably with the inner carton/holder. Manuals & pamphlets are welcome also!

Willing to pay cash (or PayPal as the internet goes).  Just dont want to pay forty bucks + for one like the guys on Ebay are asking!

Thank you!

So hyped for the DLC.
I haven't played Persona 5 (or any Persona game) but Joker looks fun
DOOM Slayer being in would be nuts
Ryu Hayabusa being included would also be insane, I would love that.
No opinion on Erdick
Please no steve from minecraft.

Not really enthused for any Minecraft character if the rumors prove to be true. But I ca. See it, given Minecraft's insane popularity.

Living in the sticks of Missouri, up until 2011 there was no high-speed internet option where I live. I had Hughesnet, but wouldn't wish that on the worst forum troll. In 2011, Big River started putting up LTE towers for wireless internet. I've paid through the nose since then for it, with a whopping 7mbps down, 1.5mbps up.  ::)  But as long as I kick the kids off first, I can play online.

Most FPS I bought for the single player mode. Hell, before 2011 I couldn't play online anyway!  Even now with a few exceptions like the first Destiny and Plants vs. Zombies, I dont play much online. I've played every Call of Duty up until Black Ops IIII, and since Activision decided to omit the single player campaign,  they can kiss my hairy ass. $110 for a stripped-down online dude-bro shooter with a $50 season pass for some crappy map packs?  No thanks.

Ran into a similar problem with Super Smash Bros  3DS which I bought new  Game icon on the screen, prompted to download update file. Then, nothing. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Still a no go. Uninstalled, reinstalled while disconnected from my wifi so it wouldn't try to update. Nope.

Nintendo told me the cart went bad and pretty much there was nothing they could do. Well, I took care of it. Returned it to Wally World and got a new copy.

But the fact that the game was bad, especially when carts are expected to last has been burned into my brain. I often wonder if other games will crap out on me.

So I see no problem with using flash carts, ROMs, emulators, etc.

Personally, as someone who supported the Wii U from day one, each port to Switch sort of makes me roll my eyes. I'll admit, I liked Mario Kart 8 Deluxe enough to purchase, but in hindsight, as someone who bought the Wii U title + the DLC, the new content in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was not satiable for me and that's why I've steered clear of buying ports for the Switch since then.

Those examples you gave are excellent for the most part, but with each port Nintendo creates, it feels more and more like they are becoming Activision or EA. Their new Switch exclusives are great, but like I said, I already have a lot of their remakes for Wii U.  I guess if you compare the retail packages for the two, you're right, but as someone who bought Mario Kart 8 Deluxe after having all of the Wii U's dlc, I've put like ten hours into Deluxe in almost two years, and I regret the purchase. To me, it wasn't much of an advancement.

I see your side, especially coming from somebody that supported Wii U and bought & played all those games. I think it makes good business sense for Nintendo, and it gives people who didnt play the Wii U a chance to enjoy these games.

In a perfect world, we would have gotten sequels to Mario Kart 8, New Super Mario Bros. U, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Hyrule Warriors, etc.  But regardless of your outlook on the matter, Nintendo doesnt release their games until they are ready. Me, I prefer that rather than the new industry standard:  Ship it now & patch it later.

We have gotten some really great Switch exclusives like Zelda Breath of the Wild (I'm counting it since it was a simultaneous release), Super Mario Odyssey, 1-2 Switch (should a been a pack-in), Fire Emblem Warriors, Splatoon 2, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Kirby Star Allies, Mario Tennis Aces, the Labo stuff, Octopath Traveller, Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu & Let's Go Evee, Super Mario Party, Super Smash Bros Ultimate and  Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - Zorna the Golden Country.  That's fifteen new, original games - not ports - released in the first 21 months on market. That's a record for Nintendo probably!  To me, that's more than enough 1st party software in that time frame.

There were also about ten Nintendo-made Switch eShop titles so far, and  eight or so ports for those that want them. So about 33 Nintendo games in less than two years.

I'm really looking forward to 2019. So far, we know we are getting Yoshi's Crafted World, a new Pokemon game, Luigi's Mansion 3, Metroid Prime 4 (date has been leaked apparently) and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3.

Nintendo combined their handheld and console divisions which should start yielding a steady stream of exclusive games. With the supposedly unearthed code pointing to a SNES online app like the current NES one,  the upcoming exclusives and a ton of indies for those who like them, N
The Switch may become my favorite Nintendo system ever.

Now Nintendo just needs to release N64 and Gamecube classic consoles and for Bloodstained to come out and it will be offical:  I'm not leaving the house!  LOL.

Those are pretty significant changes & additions. Nintendo did more work on this game than most other develops put in between sequels of their titles.
???

You dont agree that it's a pretty good amount of added content? Or that Nintendo put more effort into a port than other developers do in their sequels?

Activision reskins Call of Doody every year and charges an extra $50 after the base $60 for maps. They even did away with the campaign entirely this round.

Capcom just adds more words and numbers to Street Fighter. $60, a couple new characters & a turbo mode with a ridiculously long game title. Or making you pay for characters already programmed in and locked on the disc.

Sony, porting a huge batch of their games to the PS3 and now PS4 with a slightly higher framerates and upscale to 1080p.

Fallout 76. Take all the interesting NPC's out. Undoubtedly lower quality with less effort put in than Fallout 4 with multiplayer tacked on that nobody wanted.

Dynasty Warriors 4000. Same game, different name.

Just Dance games that just reused the last ten iterations graphics with different songs.

Those are just a few examples. Tony Hawk?  Guitar Hero?  I could go on and on. Or how about Destiny, actually REGRESSING from the 1st game to the 2nd?

You...dont pay for characters. They all unlock for playing, the way all fighters should work.

DLC? In 4 you had to pay for dlc chars, I am pretty sure that's the case

Gotcha. When you said "constantly paying for new characters" it sounded as if you thought you had to pay for a lot of them.

While I am in no way whatsoever a fan of DLC, the 75-character roster (including Pirahnna Plant who is free) is pretty impressive, especially when combined with the sheer magnitude of stuff to do in this game. You also have 14 other characters in the base game who instead of just being pallet swaps, are individual characters with completely different looks, such as all seven Koopalings under the Bowser Jr. tab.

So I dont take too much offense at a $25 DLC pack that includes 5 new characters 5 new stages and a bunch of music tracks. And if rumors are to be believed, the characters are:

Joker from Persona 5
Steve from Minecraft with Alex and Master Chief alternate skins
Doom Guy from Doom with alternate Doom 64 skin
Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden
Erdrich from Dragon Quest with two alternate character skins

If this pans out, that's 10 additional characters.
