Might wanna change the title of this thread to include the word "not" between "console" and "coming" ;)

Video Game Database Discussion / Re: Recent Additions to Database

I've made a few recently but I don't think many people here care about DOS PC or Tandy Color Computer games.

Classic Video Games / Re: What do you prefer retro or modern games?
« on: August 25, 2015, 06:13:26 pm »
I prefer retro for sure however some genres I prefer modern. A good example is racing games. I love Enduro on the 2600 or Rad Racer on the NES but if I want to play a racing game I'll gravitate toward something like NFS Hot Pursuit or Split Second on the PS3

Site Feedback / Re: Submit New Item not working?

Hmmm, ok I'll rescan the game at a lower resolution. I had it set to a high level from scanning some family photos so they're at 2400 x 2800 pixels and over 4 meg each for front, back and media. So perhaps that is  the problem.

EDIT - I made a new one with a small front box art I found online and that seemed to work. So it probably was picture size then. A mod can go ahead and delete the two blank ones above. Thanks

Site Feedback / Submit New Item not working?
« on: August 24, 2015, 08:21:55 pm »
I tried twice to submit a Links 386 CD game for [NA]PC and both times it created a blank page with no pictures, no title and no data. I tried a second time thinking it was some kinda glitch but it happened again. I can see it submitted both items but there's nothing there.

Here are both bad entries

Classic Video Games / Re: First video game you ever played?

My memory is kinda fuzzy on this but I'm going to go with the arcade versions of Space Invaders and Sea Wolf in 1980

Going digital only could be a disastrous move for Nintendo right now. I certainly hope for their sake this isn't true. I already skipped the Wii U as many have, how many more will skip a digital only NX?

I also pass on a disc based game where it's obvious they printed out a grainy copy of the cover art when it's missing. It just looks horrible

Classic Video Games / Re: The top 5 games that defined your childhood
« on: August 20, 2015, 05:59:56 pm »
Number one for me has to be Space Invaders in the arcade. Spent many quarters playing one in the lobby of a hotel we were staying at on vacation in Hawaii in 1980. I had played other games previously, like Sea Wolf but Space Invaders kept me coming back for more.

I'd also have to include Boot Hill at number 2, it was a game my (late) father and I played a lot in the arcades back then as well. My other top three would have to include Mr. Do, which is my favorite arcade game of all time and number 4 would have to be arcade Donkey Kong.

For number 5 I'd have to include my first 2600 game (beside combat) which was Asteroids, a port I still love today

I love finding stuff like this. $12 at a local pawn shop, talked them down from $19 since it was untested but it does work great. A few scratches on the screen but some are just marks that look like they'll come off. This is the Radio Shack version of Epoch's Astro Command. It's the same game. Plays like Scramble

Site Feedback / Re: Category request
« on: August 19, 2015, 06:21:21 am »
i concur. there should be distinct cassette, cartridge, and diskette categories for the c64.
all the diskettes are currently under cassettes!

I don't know if it's still the case but C64 carts were all listed under cassettes too. It never got changed so I submitted specific edits myself for the carts I owned.

On the subject though, not just C64 but all retro computers should have cart, cassette, and disk subsections.

I say right now.

We can enjoy the past in a variety of ways.

Let's plays on YouTube, emulation, original hardware, clone systems, steam, etc.

eBay makes importing a breeze.

Forums, collection sites, etc.

We also get to enjoy evolutions in gaming tech bringing us modern gems like: Tomb Raider (reboot), Kingdom Hearts, infamous, etc.

This is actually a really good answer.

You can follow yourself.

How?

I have a second account that I created for just games, no systems or other miscellaneous stuff but when I log into that one and look at the feed of my main account, a lot of the games I've added didn't show up. Even items I've added very recently that I knew I added weren't on the feed.
