Modern Video Games / Re: Animal Crossing switch

Yeah the world save is hard coded to the console itself so that's why you can't change it.

Sometimes we dont get "why" some submits are there. So if it looks like nothing has changed, often times I will just reject with "info already on hand".

That's just bad, no, - terrible - moderating then. Inexcusable. Ever thought to PM the user and ask them to describe the changes they made?  Or add a "edit reason" field box to fill out? You encourage people to edit and correct information - and then when they do - you just deny the edits outright. I spent half an hour last night looking up information to add to game descriptions to describe their versions for some good information, and they were both denied. I would delete my account too over that. That's why I no longer edit any wrong info on this site anymore - and other people get the same message - because we know it's just going to get rejected for some dumb reason.  People get the message that their information is worthless and not wanted, so once you do that to so many people, they no longer want to contribute anything and no longer care.  Imagine if Wikia did that - the site would be gone overnight!  You just have to let the people submit their information and believe in them that they are correct. If the info is wrong - someone else that knows will re-edit it when they see it. There is no reason for this power-hungry Nazi style moderation. Just let the people edit things. This is a site for gamers - not moderators that think they know everything about each game and reject valid information.

It sounds like the sticks are dirty and there is nothing wrong with the controllers. The right analog stick is the most programmed analog stick in videogames, with the left stick getting lesser use. So naturally, with heavy play, they wear out faster.  Have you tried taking all these controllers apart down to the last screw and washing them and lubricating the sticks?  I never plug a used controller in until I clean it.

yeah dude I agree with Seether.  You really expect a complete stranger to just give you their account?  Come on, enough with the e-begging.
Sure.

But if I pay for it, both of us earn something.

hahaha nice try. Then you hack their account and steal all their info.  That's not how this works.

Hardware and Tech / Re: Genesis Model 1 AC Adapter
« on: April 12, 2020, 05:41:51 am »
I am not sure why people are being so difficult and suggesting dumb things like cutting China pride cables and soldering new ends on them. It's no wonder why so many house fires happen and consoles blow their fuses.

The Sega MK-1602 power supply is what shipped with the model 1 Genesis.  Go on eBay and buy one. It takes 10 seconds. Do not use Amazon. Never use 3rd party or multi-format adapters. They are cheap junk and will burn out (or burn your house down).  I had a cheap NES one 10 years ago.  It melted and shorted out my power strip and would have started a fire if I wasn't sitting right there to smell and see the smoke.

I always use official OEM hardware and it never fails and always works. Having the original hardware also improves the value of the console when sold. There is absolutely no sense in using Chia pride junk with narrow low gauge wire and quality that will not last beyond a year. They are cheap for a reason.

General / Re: What Is Your Opinion Of NASCAR Racing Video Games
« on: April 12, 2020, 05:11:05 am »
NASCAR games are great, but it's hit and miss as to the good/bad ones.  You have to be a true NASCAR fan to get the full enjoyment of the games, as they are sim based, and you have to know about nascar handling to be able to tune the cars properly to win. I dabbled with them off and on over the years but never got into it. There is more arcade and simplistic NASCAR licensed games, so if you're not much a NASCAR die-hard, try those ones instead, they might be more enjoyable.

tripredacus is 100% correct.  Here in the USA farmers are having to destroy all their crops, and dump all their milk and throw everything out because nobody is buying it. And supermarkets do not buy local produce, only overseas produce, which is having to do the same thing, so the markets are running out of produce and milk.

Off Topic / Re: I can't bare to spend money

Nice ego chasing as usual. He probably lives in some 3rd world country where money is the only way the superficial fake society respects you. This dude is only like 14/15 max, so he doesn't have any idea on how life works yet anyway.

I work at an Amazon warehouse part time and make $21 an hour. I work for 4 hours a day then have the entire day and night to do whatever I want. I get by on $1,000 a month and have a house packed with stuff.

But this dude has his life all set out to be a miserable nothing so let it happen. He's been trolling the same forum posts for well over a year and a half.

i'd say in the wiiu ps3 xbox 360 era and up selling outdated versions of games might even be a thing for more serious collectors.

look at for example wii u titles having same games on switch with better grapics and extra content.
or say ps3 and xbox 360 with GOTY editions of games with all dlc and such.

before there was a reason to have duplicates of sames since there where differences between games but nowadays it's just straight up better and way more common thanks to dlc and definetive editions.

Indeed. For example, I just recently acquired the GOTYE of Red Dead Redemption, so I sold the original release and Undead Nightmare.

Overall, I will usually wait until a definitive edition gets released; it feels far more practical.

Would never do that because a lot of the times the enhanced editions cut stuff out.

Video Game Database Discussion / Re: How to put custom GBA into collection?

ahh, ok, that makes sense. So the ability to change the site's stock entry thumbnail to a custom one, that only displays for you.

...in the case of the GBA, there is no 'base' machine- they all specify a specific shell color that will NOT match what I'm listing. Basically, I have to lie about what's in my collection... and I can't stand that! Seriously, this is the kind of stuff that's made me abandon collector sites multiple times in the past... I just want to list want I actually own & not leave things out. Is there really no workaround or exception to be made for the 5-6 machines this affects?

Just add the launch day purple system to your collection, and make a personal note in the notation field that yours is a custom console. It's not that big of a deal.

If you want to be specific about what is in your collection and have full control, just buy Collectorz.com's Game Collector program. You can make custom entries and have your own photos, information, etc.

I am very particular on save file data, and a lot of games are as well, so just change the battery.  You can get an entire pack of them on eBay for 70 cents, or go to an electronics store or the battery section of your grocery store and they should have one.  It's usually a once in a lifetime thing. I've never had to change it on mine, and they are all early models and used.

I take care of my things, and I only buy used consoles, so they all last my lifetime. The only time they break is due to old age parts failure or acts of god. My original PS2 died from a power surge, and my 2nd PS2 died when the disc tray gears went out.

My fat CECHE01 backwards compatible PS3 I bought used from GameStop in 2008 still works.  I also have a GameCube that I buried about 4 feet underground for a year that still works.
