Yep, it's me again with a'nudda batch of i'dears for features to help "enrich" our growing community of fellow collectors.

1. "Who else owns this?"
You can get a lot of good information when checking out the individual game/item pages (assuming they've been completed), but I was thinking that it needs something else to tie it to our community; the ability to see a listing of other users who own this game, as well. There's been a few times where I was scrolling through the list wondering "Wow. Who owns THAT game!?" for the real rare stuff.

You could possibly add other little features like "Who added this item?" "Who added this item to their list last?" "How many collections contain this item?" Y'know, stuff like that.

2. "Games in common"
This is sorta like comparing achievements/trophies. When clicking on a user, there should be an option to view what games both users have in their collection. This feature goes hand-in-hand with #1, but expands upon it. (Example: Have you ever been curious who else on the site owns that rare game that you own, too? I know I have!)

These things were probably already planned/considered, but I figured I'd post about 'em, anyway. What do you guys think?

Hahaha! Well, that's a pretty straightforward answer. I'm sure you'll fix it in the near future. Good luck with that!

VGCollect for Android / "Android App User" Badge?
« on: May 02, 2011, 12:56:15 pm »
Hey @matt,

I see you've got a nifty "Android App User" and the "Android Beta Tester" badges in your profile. I have the Beta test badge, but not the standard App User badge. This might sound superficial or just plain dumb, but, should we be getting both badges? :]

Site Feedback / Re: A simple suggestion

PERFECT! This is exactly what I was looking for, @matt. As mentioned by @scott, this is an essential feature for working from memory and makes the adding items process that much more efficient.

Thanks again!

Site Feedback / A simple suggestion

Hello VGCollect,

Just wanted to take a moment and say that I really like this site and it has become a nice side project of mine to finally begin documenting what games I own currently.

One huge suggestion that would really increase usability is if we were able to see in the Search results games we already have listed in our queue and prevent from adding duplicate entries of a game we've already added.

So, for example, let's say I added Final Fantasy III (SNES [NA]) to my queue. If I search for simply "Final Fantasy", it would be marked in the search results in some way that this item has already been added to my queue. (Have the text in red, a checkmark graphic, something so we can tell at a glance.)

Just a suggestion. Keep up the great work!

Site Feedback / Requested feature: "Add to Wishlist"
« on: April 30, 2011, 03:35:05 pm »
Hey @matt,

Got another idea for you that I'm sure others would find extremely useful. Considering this site is called "VGCollect", collecting is something we like to do, right? Well, what better way to aid the collector than by adding an option for us to add games to our wishlist/need to buy list?

There's been a few times where I've been using the Browse feature, looking for my titles, and I see one that I remember and think "Wow! I really should buy that!" Having a wishlist/buy list might be a good way for us to keep track of stuff like that.

What do you think?
