General / Retron 5 Vs Retro Freak!
« on: April 19, 2016, 05:36:27 pm »
So I have the rdp (retro duo portable) which I love but now I decided I want a home clone console. I just can't decided which one I want. I've heard mainly good things about the retron 5..I've just recently heard about the retro freak which is a japanese import home clone console.  I'm leaning towards the retro freak because it can play more video games from other systems. Such as the tubrograx16 and they are also working on a converter which will allow you to play sega game gear games and my sega card games as well. The converter will be released next month. I know the retron 5 is also supposed to be working on a converter that plays game gear games as well but I don't when it will be released. The only thing is the retro freak is $200 and the converter is $60 which is a bit more expensive than the retron 5...Also being that its a japanese import anything you want for the system is really hard to find that is why i'm having a hard time deciding on whether or not to get the converter...I just hope controllers and the adapter that lets you use other controllers for the system become more readily available.

Classic Video Games / What are some of the best rpg's for the snes?
« on: April 10, 2016, 07:34:03 pm »
I've been addicted to earthbound and it has been such an awesome game. I want to play another snes rpg after I beat earthbound. Any suggestions? I was thinking maybe secret of mana or ff2 0r ff3? If you guys can think of hidden gems that are really good I would really appreciate it. Btw, i'm not opposed to action adventure rpg's but I prefer the ones where you stand in a line. It is nostalgic for me I guess. Thanks...

I know that there is a preview of the nx this year at e3...But any idea when it will be released? It will be interesting to see...Some sorta handheld/home console hybrid. I hope they learn from their mistakes with the wii u. Also,on a different note it is extremely hard to find the brand new gold cover version for winder waker hd. Here is a warning about this, there are a lot of retail and even ebay and az sellers that will advertise a stock photo for the gold cover version of the game. 99% percent of the time it is the standard plain version..I think it is wrong that they do this..I have had this happen to me and I returned the game. I'm just not keen on paying $100+ for the gold cover version.

Now, I want to say I know the nintendo selects are a re-release  of the original so I guess they won't be as valuable but any other reasons? Example pikmin 3 for the wii u and super mario world 3d, and dk tropical freeze and nes remix these are all nintendo selects. For me I'd probably want the original release. Especially if I can get the original release for the same price as the nintendo selects.

Modern Video Games / Ebay buying rant...
« on: March 15, 2016, 01:11:24 am »
I was really happy when I got a pretty good deal on a brand new and sealed super luigi wii u game. I paid $44 which i know seems high but prices are between $50-70 new and sealed. I got it today and to my shock I looked at the back of the game and their was a tear on the plastic near the top and upon further inspection their was price tag residue over three or four spots on the back (Which I tried to removed but it just smudged it instead hopefully i don't get in trouble for that.) and on top of that I found another scratch that almost is another rip. Should have been a red flag when he only showed the front of the game and not the back of the game. I emailed the guy right away and asked for a refund which he agreed as soon as I send it back to him. I just get sick of a lot of sellers not all sellers but I would say about 50% of sellers on ebay that hide the condition of an item. I was disappointed because now i'm probably gonna have to pay more for the game. I'm worried now because I bought the rare first edition of bayonetta from a different seller on ebay. Although the plastic seal on my bayonetta game looks just fine. I'll let you guys know how that turns out.

Classic Video Games / What is up with the value of cheetahmen?
« on: March 01, 2016, 12:35:19 am »
It seems like the value for this game is all oooover the place. Pricing charts have this game at $700 dollars and more and saying its rare. Yet, on ebay sealed copies are only going for $290 and less..I assume the price for this game has tanked and i'm wondering if this game is in a steady decline? Anybody's thoughts?

I know its criminal but I did it on my earthbound cartridge. Just for a few seconds and it honestly looks fine. Thanks for the heads up and I'll use it as a last resort.

After finally arriving took about a week to get my earthbound game. Which surprised me because the seller lives the next state over. Anyways, the actual label is in pretty good condition. I would rate it somewhere in between good and very good condition. What really made me angry though and what wasn't shown in the pics when I bought the game was that there was writing on the corner of the cartridge.  >:(  That is one of my biggest pet peeves when buying video games. I took the game apart to make sure it was legit and it is. I thought I would spend hours scrubbing the game to get the marker off, but I found a method on youtube that works everytime. I wanted to share this with everybody in case they didn't know. Simply use mr. clean magic eraser to scrub off the marker. It works every single time and it only takes a few minutes. Plus it can remove other stains from your cartridge as well. My biggest point in this thread is be really careful when buying games on ebay. Some sellers play dirty and try and hide the condition of a video game. This was a big deal for me because of how expensive the game is. While all sellers aren't bad who sell on ebay you just have to be careful who you buy from. This seller won't be getting a positive feedback from me.

I passed on the game. It is such an obscure game as it is. If I buy a game it will just be for my enjoyment. I do want to rebuild my nes and snes collection.

@entity I wasn't saying this game was a "really sweet title" I was say unless its a really sweet title. In reference to a different game...

He just lowered the price because he wants me too buy it. It worries me though because if he has to lower it that means it isn't selling at all.

Hi,

So I came across this game called Bronkie The Bronchiasaurus and it seems to be kinda rare. The loose cartridge seems to be going up in value each year. Right now I think its at 140ish it could be lower though. Everyone is asking 299.99 for sealed copies and I know if it got a sealed copy and it got a decent grading from vgc it could be worth a lot more. I just don't know if the demand is there and what also worries me is that a seller on ebay keeps asking me if I want to buy his sealed copy of the game. Just so he can make his money back on the game. lol He says it should get at least 90 + gold. Which is awesome but I doubt anyone would pay 1,500 for a game unless it was a really sweet title.

Classic Video Games / The value of earthbound snes?
« on: February 19, 2016, 03:51:19 am »
Hi,

I'm new to this forum I just registered tonight. While I have lots of classic gamecube games, like phantasy star online, mario, zelda, super metroid etc. I used to have a decent sized collection of nes and snes games but I was stupid and sold my nes and snes games which I really regret. So I have been rebuilding my nes and snes collection. I just purchased earthbound for the snes a couple days ago on ebay for $152.50. I think I got a good deal because I have looked at other auctions and mine has been the cheapest so far. Prices seem kinda soft right now and hopefully the prices rebound soon. My question is a complete set including box and instruction booklet and game and some of the extras run about 850ish right now. Will the price get soft on a complete set? Also do you think its worth the hefty price tag? I might eventually want the original box or at least the instruction booklet and guide.  Just wanted to know what everyone's thoughts were.
