My copy is legitimate, complete in box and the barcode is 12 digits long.

Video Game Database Discussion / Barcode rejected?

Ok, why would this edit be rejected? I added the barcode for The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap (EU) straight from my own copy of the game, and it happens to have the same barcode as the US version. Rejection of an edit with no way to contest it and a vague "please see the guide" as reason is really frustrating..

Video Game Database Discussion / Language edits in title rejected

I tried to edit these entries of Donkey Kong Country [FR] and Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest [FR] to reflect the languages that are listed on the box and manual. The packaging features English, Dutch and French text, so just [FR] on it would be incomplete. But when I tried to enter that information in the title, they got rejected. I don't see why my edits are being rejected, especially when other entries have this as well and some of my other edits where I did the same thing got approved.

Better to switch sooner than later I reckon. As more data gets added everyday, it'll be an even bigger chore later on :P

Also tripredacus, music releases aren't all that complicated. It may appear a bit intimidating but they're pretty simple once you get the hang of it. It also helps that they have a clear summary of submission rules :)

Yes, basically a hub-like page for all variants of a game.
Here's an example of a master release on discogs: https://www.discogs.com/Perturbator-Dangerous-Days/master/699016
Also a screenshot because I believe you need an account now to view items on discogs:

And a screenshot of how the search function works:

The top search result is the master entry that links to all other variants.

And yeah, adding and maintaining accurate and clear information is always going to be a chore, but as you can see discogs.com does it well and has a thriving community that maintains this information. I see no reason why this couldn't be the case for vgcollect's community. :)

Site Feedback / Grouping of same title releases

I don't know if this has been suggested yet, but it would be nice to have grouping of same title releases. What I mean by that is take for example the game The Lion King (1994). There are many different versions of it, and it would be nice if all of those were grouped together in a unified and clear way so that when you search the Lion king, the first result would be the grouping of the Lion King (unless you're typing a specific barcode or whatever). If you're familiar with discogs.com for example, they use master entries that hold all of the different variations of an album. Something similar would help negate the clutter of all of the different versions (and duplicates) of videogames.
