Classic Video Games / Re: Phantasy Star
« on: December 12, 2013, 03:04:52 pm »
I remember playing through Phantasy Star 1 on my Power Base Converter.  I think when I got my PBC it came with voucher that I was able to send in for a few free games, PS1 was one of them. I don't remember a lot about it (I remember PS4 a lot more), but I do remember really liking it a lot.

I know that's not helpfull, but that is my PS1 memory... for what its worth :)

Classic Video Games / Montezuma's Revenge

Hit the pawn shop today and got Montezuma's Revenge, Ghost Manor, Buck Rogers, Mr. Do! (coleco), and time pilot for 15 bucks total!  Nothing to extra ordinary, but a good find for around here... most of the atari stock at the local pawn shops are pretty boring.  Then on the way out the door he stopped me and sold me a 2 atari systems, a genesis, and a saturn, with a bunch of controllers  he had in the back for 10 bucks.  Not to bad.

My local used Book/Music/Video game shop just updated their website so you can now order online and they will ship it to you.  Perhaps it may be of interest to you guys.  Prices are fair (at least as good as ebay).  SMB3 is $6 for example. I picked up Super Metroid for $17. They have games for systems back to NES.

Hwody.

I've been looking for something to catalog my collection for a while, so I was excited to com across vgcollect.  I'm about half way through adding my collection.  When I discovered ebay in 1999 I went on a purchasing spree, that is where most of my hardware came from.  Sense then I usually just buy games I want to play.  My boys (10 and 8 ) like to hit the pawn shops with me hunting for new games. I tend to prefer cartage based system, for me there is more nostalgia in the cartridges than in CDs and digital downloads (although I have plenty of those too). My favorite systems are probably 5200, NES, Genesis, N64 (those are the ones I  had when I was younger, so of course I like those ones). I also have a pretty sweet Mame cabinet (if I do say so myself) I built about 8 years ago. I love to see the kids (and their dads) reaction when they see it.

Look at me, I'm rambling...

Classic Video Games / Re: do you know of a vary gory retro game

For some reason the first game that pops into my head is Doom Troopers

I know there were more gory games at the time, but I remember being surprised by this one.
