I was looking for some kind of video game collectors list, program type thing to try and help me keep track of what games I have. As I collect games from at least 15 different systems it's hard to remember what games and accessories I have for them. I stumbled across this site, and well I was originally looking for a program to download, this site was so much better then anything else I looked at, better organized and user friendly. I was hooked, and as an added bonus, a forum full of fellow game collectors to talk with. :)

Hum, thats a weird coincidence :o, LOL. I actually started a change jar the beginning of November to try and save up for a 3ds XL. I figured by the time I got enough change for one, they would hopefully have a better selection of colors out. LOL

I have one of those old large glass apple cider jugs that I throw all the silver change into and a large plastic fruit punch jug that I throw all the pennies into.  ;D So far I have about two inches of pennies and and an inch and a half of silver change. Its become a weekly thing where at the end of the week I empty my purse of all the accumulated change.

Classic Video Games / Re: Favorite Retro Console
« on: December 01, 2012, 11:36:50 pm »
I'd have to say my favorite is the Atari 2600! It was my very first experience with playing a video game and I would site for hours and play/watch my older brothers playing games on it. :) It's what started my love of videogames and more importantly RPGs. (Adventure was the first game my dad bought for the Atari and he would sit there and help me play it. I think I was around 4 or 5)  :) I just get all nostalgic every time I see that console.

As for favorite console to actually sit and play, I'd have to say the Gamecube or PS2... It's weird to think that some of these consoles are as old as they are. it seems like they just came out. I can remember shelling out $200 for a brand new N64 (one of the few consoles I've purchased new) and now thier a dime a dozen, so to speak. I tend to think of a system as "retro" when GameStop stops selling games for it. LOL

in a word, Yes! There was no hand holding or online walkthroughs and we didn't have any trouble with our attention spans. We spent months systematically burning bushes and bombing walls looking for that one dungeon in Legend of Zelda. And when we finally beat the game, there was a sense of accomplishment!

Unlike today where most players if they manage to get stuck last a whopping 2 minutes before they run to the internet to look up the answer. (my nephews) And when you beat a game there's no feeling of wow I finally beat it! its more like eh is that all there is to the game.

And there are exceptions, But I think most modern games are aimed at casual gamers, so they have to be easier.

The only one I have ever played is the first one.  I had a lot of fun playing through it and almost reached the level cap.  Personally though I think "There's no greater gaming nirvana than playing The Legend Of Zelda.  Especially Ocarina of Time, Link to the Past, Adventure of Link, the original, and, well pretty much all of the other games..."

I completely agree :) The Legend Of Zelda's are my favorite games, to the point that I usually end up buying a new system so I can play the next Zelda game. lol

I just finished playing the main story line in Dragon Quest IX, And I have to say that it is my absolute favorite non zelda game! to the point that every game I've tried to get into playing today, just doesn't seem as good in comparison. I really loved being able to customize the look of my whole party. :)

I'll usually pick up what ever I happen to find for really dirt cheap or I'll shop around until I get a good deal on the games on my wish list. I very rarely buy games new, unless I really want them or the price difference between new and used is so marginal I might as well just get it new. For the most part my collection is games that I would enjoy playing or that has a nostalgia factor from when was little. I do try to maintain a good selection of games for each system, but as my main interest is rpgs they make up the bulk of my collection. My resent focus has been on the handheld systems so I don't monopolize the TV.  ;)

Hi, I'm new here so I thought I'd pop in here to introduce myself. I stumbled across this site well trying to find a program that would help me inventory my video game collection, (that projects going to take me awhile) and decided to stay as this looks like a nice friendly place to chat about video games. Which I'm looking forward to, as I don't know anyone in real life that really plays video games let alone collect them. Anyway I collect a lot of different systems and the games and accessories for them. I'm mostly a rpg player, My favorite series being Zelda, Dragon Quest, and Final Fantasy, :)

The systems I collect for, so far, are:
Atari 2600
NES
SNES
N64
Gamecube
Wii
GB & GB color
GBA
DS
3DS
PS1
PS2
Gamegear

I'm slowly adding other systems as I find good deals on them.
