Modern Video Games / Re: PS3 Games

Fallout games are all pretty rad, and New Vegas is no exception.  Since you aren't planning to hook up to the internet, I'd try to get Game of the Year editions when you can, as they will typically include DLC.  Hopefully not as a code :(

The DLC is on a disc, at least on the 360 it was. It should be no different on the PS3, though.

OT I really recommend the Fallout games, especially 3 and New Vegas. The Elder Scrolls games are also awesome, they're like Fallout but with swords and magic instead of guns. Oh, and Mass Effect. Don't forget Mass Effect.

I'm sorry to drill your morale a little bit further into the ground, matt, but even though the design looks nice, I too prefer the shelf. It's just easier to use.

Which Xbox 360 are you talking about? I know the older ones have a removeable HDD on top and I assume you could just take it off and put another one in. Not sure about the Slim, though. Or, like the others said, you can always use flashdrives.

Those 3DS's look cool, but nothing can beat my pikachu 3DS :3

Regarding the starters, I want to choose Chespin and Charmander, but I also want a Gogoat to ride on and a Torchic for it's mega evolution. So I'm gonna have two grass and two fire type pokemons in my party.

First word problems.  :'(

Nowadays, limited editions of games don't mean anything. I've bought Battlefield 3 and Kane & Lynch 2 LE and the only difference with the normal editions were some codes for extra online content. It's just a marketing gimmick to get people to buy it because it's "limited".

I'm talking about a REAL limited edition....  Battlefield 3 didn't even have a normal edition at launch, that was the ONLY edition so I hardly think that counts....  I have not seen the Kane & Lynch 2 LE so I can't comment on that, but I keep an eye out for CE/LE versions every month and I feel that the vast majority of them do offer some nice physical memorabilia....  The previous statement excludes anything that is nothing more than simply art book and OST combos....  That shit is really old....

I gotta agree with the nice physical memorabilia. Duke Nukem Forever had a neat-looking bust, Saints Row 4 has a dubstep gun replica... All cool stuff but I'm not into collector's editions because some games have several CEs like Plants vs Zombies (one with a disco zombie figurine and one with a sunflower figurine) and I'm the type of guy who needs to buy both versions to feel "complete". I have no intention of buying the same game twice unless there's a difference between console versions (handhelds vs home consoles), then maybe. Another reason why I'm not into CEs, is that some of them are just crazy (Saints row 4  one million dollar edition, really?)

That million dollar edition is quite nuts true, but I am not familiar with any other special edition like that....  I know there is like the Uncharted to one, but in fairness that is market value derived through rarity since you couldn't actually buy the damn thing....  The closest thing I can think of would be insanely high kickstarter project stuff, but most of that is PC and doesn't apply to me anyways since I don't consider any of my PC stuff part of my collection....

Well, there's this: http://kotaku.com/5900944/resident-evil-6s-ridiculous-1000-collectors-edition/. Not as crazy as the million dollar pack, but still. Like the article states, special editions are just a way of milking extra money out of consumers and that's how I see it too. 1000$ for a leather jacket? No thanks. Of course, you're not obligated to buy it, but there will always be a select group of people who will try to get their hands on it (hardcore collectors, fans...) and as long as things like this continues to sell, companies will bring out more of this.

Tomb Raider (the new reboot) cost Square Enix nearly 200 million dollars, that being about 100 million for development and about as much for marketing. That's why S-E considers the game a huge failure, despite it selling quite well.

200 million? Are you serious? That game was imo really awful! Too cinematic, too much quick-time events... I played this game for like an hour and most of the time I was just watching cut scenes en pressing a button or two. From what I've seen, this game doesn't stay true to the series. I immediately uninstalled it. I don't want filth in my pc.

So I was wrong, GTA:V is estimated to have had a $265 million budget but is expected to bring in $1.6 Billion

Wow. This game better be good. I expect it to be awesome and even surpass The Last Of Us (haven't played it yet but it seems pretty awesome too).

So I heard GTA IV is the most expensive game developed with a cost of 100$ million. Do you guys think this was reflected in the game itself? I mean, this game is the highest rated game of all time (98/100 on metacritic.com) but I do not thinks it deserved a score this high. I like this game but it's a bit too realistic in terms of gameplay (the way the character moves etc.). I'd give this game an 85 or so (mainly because I played it on pc and it's a very poor console port). What do you guys think?

Also, does anyone know any other games with such high development costs?

I have almost 300 games on steam and I haven't even touched (in a manner of speaking) half of them. I tell ya, man, the summer sales are made up by the devil himself.

Walter White?

I'm sorry?

I use origin only for BF3 because EA forces me to use it. Really, you should stick to steam but beware of the sales, it has lots of them. Don't get sucked into it or you will see your bank account plummet.  ;)

So, Ben Affleck is the new Batman. Reactions?

I only know him from the Daredevil movie, which was imo average. I saw Angry Joe's angry rant and although he freaked the f*** out at the beginning, he said we should not judge him until we see a trailer or something where we see Ben Affleck in the Batman suit. People criticised Heath Ledger for being put in the role of the Joker, and see how that turned out.

Yep, there's a movie! I found it weird too at first, since it's not the kind of game that's action packed. The movie ain't about action pretty much either, but it was nice. I guess nostalgia might have helped a bit, but still, I liked it!

I don't expect it to be action-packed, but how can one make a movie about a game that doesn't have much of a story to begin with? I'll definitely have to check this one out. You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention.

But in the end, it's Japan. They've done far more weird things than this :D
