Off Topic / Re: How do you deal with getting older?
« on: July 02, 2025, 11:48:34 pm »
embrace change, try not to live in denial, associate with your generation and the older generation as well as the young'uns to find what we have in common and what we can reconcile in a world of change. Make healthy choices and prioritize your time. Yes the days seem to fly by faster, as the compression of running on the hamster wheel as daily responsibilities or life goals, all take time to achieve. Find meaningful work and enjoy the journey. I've tried to apply this to collecting as well, if there is indeed an "end game". I've often fallen to FOMO or taking it too seriously, you can't win em all and sometimes if you can't beat em, you can join them. Remember what goes around comes around. Just be a bit more selective about who you deal with and where you get things. I'm in my mid-40's and often have wondered if the gaming escape and collecting I cling to is purely nostlagia and rose colored glasses, or if it is something more, like mourning the aging process and an active way to resist getting older and stay young. Well, we often associate gaming with our youth and the wonder of imagination and acting out fantasy in games that the real world could never offer. Why would anyone ever want to age out of that, this is a totally healthy way to be young and keep our minds from focusing on the problems associated with aging in a world that won't stop changing. Going back to retro is a healthy form of rebellion and helps us maintain our inner child.

in a recent sumission the cover art I placed was rejected. If you look at this listing, you can see the outer box that I used for the Limited Edition is correct, and the listing I was updating is incorrect, as it shows the box that is supposed to be inside the other box (the one I submitted), if you are seeing other sealed CE box covers, it must be because they were removed from this outer box, hence this outer box that I submitted is the correct format the game came in. Make sense?

Goals for 2025,

Complete PS3 set (10 left)

Attempt to finish PS1 longboxes (approx. 60 left)

Focus on the 50 or so more difficult PS2 titles I have left (hit list)...

(Not sure how to insert a pic into the body of this)

Lots of goals, mainly to finish the ps1 longbox set, and grab whatever late ps4 releases I can before the dry up locally.

Incredibly impressive Lord of the Rings collection but... why a separate copy of the PS2 game for each card? Was it like Mortal Kombat Deception where one card came with a copy so buying the card meant getting another copy of the game?
exactly, wouldn't be filling the shelf unnecessarily, but this is what it takes to display them CIB as they would have been sold, with the callout on back and the cards inserted at random, with varying degrees of rarity.

I haven't added much to the collection lately but finished a few subsets this summer. Most recently, I finished collecting all 25 card variants of the Fellowship of The Ring, PS2 version. The Game also released on the Gameboy Advance and OG Xbox with the trading cards. The trading card variants only came with one card, some are harder to find than others, with the obnoxiously hard to find card, being "The One Ring", which was the final card I acquired from another collector. Glad to finally put this to rest, as it took a large amount of space, cost, and time to complete.

I'm an NTSC-UC region playstation collector. I'm in Canada, I'd really like some trade partners (preferably here to save on shipping) and I'm willing to trade rare and pricey titles just to grab quantity of common's to save me the hassle. I'm presently about 75% of the way through each library. At the moment, I have mostly PS4 games available as trade, which can be seen on my VGcollect sell list,

https://vgcollect.com/selllist/psxlegacy/ps4

I have a pretty extensive list of mostly common or less desirable titles that I am after to complete the main console libraries which can be seen here...

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1s2HcmFthArPJN3XdvwSNk4YcUSjTsp4RmAeVSOzx5U0/edit?usp=sharing

I got distracted on some side quests the last few years chasing special editions and variants, now I'm back onto trying to fill out the base sets.

I reached some milestones this year, approaching 900 titles on PS1 (within that, 448 from a full "base set"), 1400 on PS2 (within that, 639 from a full "base set"), 1289 on PS3 (within that, 24 games away from a full "base set"), and on PS4 a ridiculous 2550, although things have really slowed down (within that, 468 from a full "base set")

I figure I've done just about all that I can to find trade partners, might as well put out a feeler post in here. First time in the "looking for" forum, didn't think it would work for me since I'm after so much stuff, but I do have a more curated higher priority short list, that I can send people who want to help me find the more desireable items to knock em' off the list. Thanks in advance.

This item was only sold with White cover outward facing, the second entry is simply the reverse side of the cover. Should probably be merged into the white entry.

Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 2 (white cover)

Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 2 (yellow cover)

This homebrew game don't belong in main library

Like I mentioned, the entries addressed in my previous comment have a physical release of some capacity (whether this situation is fine to re-categorize it or not is a decision I'm not making), meaning their Release Type should instead be set to Unofficial Release, should the entries be allowed to remain at all. I'm not sure what you mean by "main library," because any physical item relating to a category—regardless if it's a bootleg or aftermarket release—is acceptable, whether you personally agree with it or not.

yes, the release types of the homebrew games should be set to unofficial release. But they should not appear in main NTSC library, as people expect to see only offical games when they click this Playstation (NA) link...https://vgcollect.com/browse/ps2

According to common name rule,

SRS: Street Racing Syndicate should become Street Racing Syndicate: SRS
