General / Re: Do you know any games with really hard difficulty?
« on: July 16, 2020, 02:59:36 pm »
Black Knight Sword
Really nice looking Suda51 game

The game on its own is hard, i finished it and it was hard but fun
The challenge mode is brutal, but i've done it with lots of screaming and hair tearing
Arcade Mode is nigh on impossible, i literally quit gaming for a while because of it

She Wants Me Dead
2D black and white side scrolling platformer, 1 hit kill, and all the traps are played to the beat of the games main theme song.

Again, plenty of fun the first time round when you can take your time and have quite a few goes at it, but then you start looking at the trophies and oh man does it get depressing. Finishing the whole game on a time limit, and finishing the whole thing from start to finish without losing a single life.

I'm hopeful they'll bring Last Blade 2 to physical disc because Hibiki. I figure with how many SNK PS4 digital games they've released at this point it's only a matter of time.

I would have thought so too tbh, fingers crossed that if they do bring it physically to console that it'll be as nice looking as this one. Curious if LRG will get it as well though.

I'm really not sure how these limited print runs of these games are working anymore. I mean the contracts have got to be by region at this point right? I know LRG have been going to exclusivity in their releases, but now i'm thinking it's just got to be exclusivity in North America.

As we all probably know by now LRG are printing Garou Mark of The Wolves for PS4 in a limited quantity.

However!
For all of us Europeans, and for those of you that may miss out on the LRG print, it turns out Pix 'n' Love are doing the PEGI release, and there is no limit to the standard PS4 version  :)

Not only this but both LRG and Pix 'n' Love are doing different collectors editions as well.

LRG Edition:

Pix 'n' Love Edition:

Depending on the price points i'd say atm, the Pix 'n' Love version is looking way better.

@mark1982

Hot damn that Blasphemous CE is smexy af! I couldn't afford it at the time so just got the standard. Plus in all honestly it was only the ost and the artbook that interested me, and it seemed the price was so high simply because of the extra sword and stuff they put in. A nice purchase non the less!

I recently ordered and received a tonne of games, there are so many places having awesome deals on atm it's hard to resist:

ALL PS4 TITLES

Intruders: Hide and Seek (now pretty damn expensive!)
Ghost Parade
Aeterno Blade II
Nelke & The Legendary Alchemists Atelier of The New World
Days Gone (snagged in the days of play sale)
Pantsu Hunter: Back to the 90's (redarts title)
Slime Rancher Deluxe Edition (REALLY early pre-order so got it nice and cheap)
Sayonara Wild Hearts (purchased on VGP)
Fimbul
Concrete Genie
La-Mulana 1-2 Hidden Treasures Edition (grabbed for £30 during a NISA sale!)
Oninaki
Costume Quest 2 (LRG)
Adams Venture Origins
Nobunaga's Ambition Taishi
Genesis Alpha One
Carly and the Reaperman Escape from the Underworld
Sairento
Rocketbirds (LRG)
Knights and Bikes (LRG)
Illusion of L'Phalcia (LRG)
Darkest Dungeon Collectors Edition

SWITCH

Mary Skelter 2 (LRG)
Blossom Tales The Sleeping King (LRG)
Code of Princess EX

PS3

Ragnarok Odyssey ACE

Aaaaaannnd i'm still waiting on another 17 games and that's not including any LRG releases
I can't really call gaming a hobby at this point, either an obsession or my life!  XD

I cant stop thinking that other reason because they didnt tried to bring their forum back is for avoid future controversial subjects like this one lol

More than likely, which is unfortunate imo.
Would have been nice to have some warning it was shutting down though, rather than trying to visit and being met with a wall of txt that basically says 'nothin to see here bro'.

@sworddude
That is true, plus the more LRG release it seems the less interested i am in a lot of their later titles. I had noticed quite a few of their games don't quite fetch the price they do on the after market these days, so you may have a point there.

@telly
This has been a god send! Don't get me wrong, the P&P has gone up again which has ticked me off a little, but the fact that i can hold off on purchases for 4 weeks or more, has defo helped me on the P&P front and being able to manage my money a lot better. Defo grateful for the open pre-order system that seems to be attached to most of their games now  :)

Off Topic / Re: What Was The Last Movie/Anime You Watched?
« on: May 23, 2020, 01:53:03 am »
Anime Currently watching (gonna try and keep these short otherwise i might write essays XD ):

Fruits Basket - In the middle of the second season atm (the new version obvs). If anyone enjoys slice of life romance dramas, with some interesting and fantastical elements (people turning into animals of the zodiac) with plot twists and mysteries, it's a defo watch. The humour in it is brilliant too, but mostly you watch it for the character development and romance  <3
Highly recommended!

Darwin's Game - Oh dear Jesus the writing in this is pure trash XD
Death game anime, op protag that shifts between being a full on pussy or being the most macho bro ever. It has some interesting elements, each character is gifted with an ability when they join 'Darwin's Game', and the powers and usage are interesting to see. Other than that i'm only 4 episodes in, with tonnes of questions that i don't think will ever be answered. Inconsistencies in the script left, right and center. If you like cool action scenes, then give it a whirl, if you like depth in your writing that goes a little deeper than a puddle, go elsewhere.

Wacky TV Nanana series 3 - Around 5 mins an episode. It's about banana people trying to film things for a failing tv station. Off the wall humour, very frantic, still a fun watch between other things.

Extra Olympia Kyklos - Another 5 min an episode type 'anime'. Combination of claymation, and 2D animation, with some live action parts thrown in. Comparable to Japanese 'Manzai' humour. Slapstick and pretty trippy. Again, if you have 5 mins to spare give the first episode a go. If you don't like it after the first episode, you aren't going to like the rest.

I promise this is not a joke......

General / Re: Value Increase of Games Lately
« on: May 23, 2020, 01:24:09 am »
At the moment i'd say prices are spiking because shops know that people are going to be bored shitless indoors.
The biggest forms of entertainment in households are streaming tv and film services like Netflix, and gaming.
It stands to reason that prices of games would be hiked for this since now people are super desperate to find ways to entertain themselves.

Completely unrelated to covid, i would think the other two main reasons are:

1. Nearing the end of a console generation - We tend to see these spikes in game prices when nearing the end of a console generation, and since we're nearing the end of one now, i'd say you'll be seeing those price increases in some of the older PS4 and XBoxOne titles more often.

2. Limited print runs and single runs - I noticed this very recently with Moss for PS4VR. I saw Moss in shops for aaaaggges at a price of around £10 and when those started disappearing, the prices have shot up to £20+, some people completely taking the piss with some prices. A single print run of a game can hike a price up massively, especially when people suddenly realise it's happening and snap it up as fast as possible. People then notice a game is selling out, and then the prices shoot up exponentially.

9
Usually it depends on the game and how it is released.

For games that LRG, Playasia, Strictly Limited and the like release, it's full price and on the day of release  :)

However, i tend to wait out most games to see their market prices. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't.
I manage to pick up most PS4 games for £10-£15.
There are the odd few that i pay a bit more for, but they're few and far between.

And when it comes to CE's i tend to pay full price for a new copy, never liked buying CE's second hand  :p

I’m a fan

They have done a lot to get smaller developers exposure. They’ve done a lot to let us have physical versions of games that would otherwise be digital only. The new preorder system makes it way easier to get the games you want.

LRG is pretty developer friendly. They give those developers the publishing rights back after their run of the game.

I really don’t see what’s not to like.

Physical versions of games we wouldn't otherwise see physically without companies like LRG is a great idea on paper.

Unfortuantely, some of the decisions LRG has made over the past few years have shown that when it comes to customers, a lot of the time it's either them not knowing what people want or simply not caring.

The removal of the hold order system was a big one for people over seas (like myself), since now every game you buy, even if it's a single game costs $15 in shipping every time. Let's say you have to pick up 2 games on the one day, and one sells out in the morning but you put the order in for the other game in the afternoon. They won't combine your morning and afternoon order, i know this after experiencing it myself a couple of times. That means you pay for the two games and two lots of $15 shipping, only to then receive both the games in the same package, again i know this because it's happened to me personally  :/

Then there's the over saturation. The sheer amount of games that LRG put out in a year, exceeds EVERY publisher of games on the planet. Remember when there were loads of LRG full setters? I wonder how many of them there are now, given that CE's can cost anywhere between $50-$150+ now, and almost every single week there's at least 1 new game.

Let's not forget odd decisions like Lawbreakers, an entirely online based game printed on disc? Only to have certain people receive their games AFTER the servers went down, and ended up with a very pretty coaster.
Then games like Aaero having a price increase and only mentioning why AFTER the game went on sale.

They may be good for developers, but not so much for customers honestly.
Though i will admit, i do think they're doing a little better with the pre-orders lasting 4 weeks or more now.
Far more savvy business decision, and way better for the customers planning to make a larger order.

11
Fortunatley, my refund went through and so should anyones who put the refund request in before the pre-orders ended. Phew!

I got mine and thank god that's over, though it has made me more wary of bigger titles LRG put out from this point forward  :/

12
Well here are the pictures, i'll just post all the ones i took because they all have varying degrees of quality and you can see certain parts of the plate in some pics but not others:

13
Should share a pic of it!

I think theflea got one a while back, I've not seen many people posting that they got them.  I wanna say they sell for a lot (over $1k)

I'd love to take a picture of the plate, but i'll be perfectly honest with you, the plate itself is so barely visible that you'd have to have a magnifying glass to see most of the detail!
Honestly, it's one of the faintest plates i've seen. When you take a look at the card you'll see why:

The upper left is the card, just the title and a small lump (the main character) sat in a very abstract background.
As you can imagine with no colour on the metal printing plate, barely any of it is visible apart from the title (incredibly faint) and the small black lump. It took me quite a while to realise which one i'd got, since the package also held Blossom Tales Switch, Rocketbirds 2 Evolution PS4, Knights and Bikes PS4, Dark Devotion PS4 and Mary Skelter 2 Switch.

Also find it kinda weird that something that's possibly that valuable, is literally just thrown in loose in the box with all the other card art cards  :/
You would have thought they'd be put in a little plastic baggie to stop them from getting scratches, but nope!

I'll give taking a picture of it a go next to the original art card, but don't hold your breath expecting something magical  XD

14
Determining value for one-of-a-kind items is never easy. Looking at the few completed eBay listings for other LRG printing plates, the prices definitely vary but are all past the $100 mark. Truth be told, unless I desperately needed the money, I would keep it. It's definitely a collector's piece and something to tell others about when mentioning your collection.

To be perfectly honest, i was never really expecting to get a printing plate at all which is why i was in a state of shock when i wrote that first post.

As interesting as something like this would be to have in my collection, i'll be honest, there are plenty of other things that i'd much rather have in my collection.
I know that there are a few people collecting these printing plates (lord only knows why, how much money would you have to spend to get them all when there's only one for each card?!), so i think someone like that would appreciate it much more than would.

So i am seriously considering selling it,  but i'd like it to go to someone who is a collector of these printing plates or is a massive fan of Gris. I'd hate to sell this to someone, only to see it pop back up on eBay for an even higher price and snatch the possibility away from someone who really WANTS it .

If anyone on this site knows of anyone who's a big fan of Gris, or is a collector of the printing plates, please let me know  <3

What is a gris printing plate?

LRG make small collectible cards with each of their releases.
To make a set, they have to use what is called a 'printing plate'.
Essentially it's the thing they use to print an entire batch of cards, in this case i got the metal printing plate that was used to make the collectible cards for the game Gris.

There's only ever one printing plate per design, so i'm considering myself super lucky to even get one, let alone for a game like Gris!

The printing plate is for the card 588

That link is for the card, and what i have is the plate it was printed with  :)
