It's been a long time since I last wrote.

So I finished two games and a drop.

Cronos: The New Dawn
Good level design, gameplay, and atmosphere (better than the new SH!)
It's a bit like Dead Space, but be careful because the game is a bit hard; it can quickly become frustrating. (There's no choice for difficulty, only when you finish the game on NG+.)

There's a problem with the RNG, sometimes mobs (the most powerful ones) or crates don't give anything. You have to be very careful with your ammo.
Another thing that's quite frustrating is the inventory, which is never big enough, even when you upgrade it. You end up having to throw away or ignore items.

I'd add that a map would have been needed because some levels are large (the second one) and can be difficult to navigate. It's also good to check if you haven't forgotten a collectible.
I don't really like the main character's voice. As for the story, I don't think it's worth a NG+.

Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter

I wasn't expecting anything from it and was pleasantly surprised. I knew it by name but never wanted to get into it because of the turn-based nature.
The remake mixes fast-paced combat with turn-based combat, and it does it well, even if you'll always choose the TB because it's more advantageous.
The gameplay is dynamic; what's good is that you can choose your character placement. You can therefore avoid certain attacks, whereas in a basic TB, it's down to RNG/luck.

The music is nice, but nothing outstanding.
I know it's the same developers, but the structure of the game reminds me of YS (map, NPCs, etc.).
I liked the cast, all the characters are cool and funny in their own way. The dialogues are fun (the passage through the castle or the theater scene), and I really liked the change in dialogue for some NPCs.
The game can be quite complicated even on normal, I had to restart several times against some pretty annoying bosses (like a penguin, lol).
I can't wait for the sequel !

Now, Silent Hill F

It was a total disappointment, which is a shame because I was curious about the transposition of a SH game into a Japanese universe.
The game's name is only Silent Hill, but otherwise it's nothing like that.
The gameplay is horrible, I ended up dropping the game because of it.
It's stiff, sometimes your weapons hit the wall (making them bounce) while you're aiming at enemies. Enemies can chain you, which gets annoying.
The SH2R game was criticized for that, while it's much better and less rigid than this SH.
It's a huge regression.

The game plays like Souls, which is absurd. You have to pay attention to your stamina/sanity, which becomes very restrictive (especially stamina).
The bosses are terrible and are HP sponge even on the lowest difficulty.

It's possible to dodge enemies, but most of the time, the game forces you to kill enemies especially in the final part.
Enemies can also respawn, which is very annoying for exploration or solving puzzles.
The music is subdued, even absent. I like the main theme, though.

I hated the other world.
It's already too "smooth" as a place, but what's more, it's a constant torture. It's long, boring, repetitive, and doesn't really add much in itself.

At some point, you don't even have to think about the puzzles anymore.
(spoil) I'm thinking of the one with the circles marked with a symbol or the doors to go through with only enemies to defeat.
The level design is pathetic.

Not to mention the haphazardly placed altars.
You'll have two not very far away (like 500 meters) and for 15 or 20 minutes, there won't be any altars, so there's no way to save.
There are some oppressive moments but nothing is scary, it's not at the level of SH2R which was really scary at times.

Castlevania LoS 2

Gameplay is good, music too.
The bosses have nice patterns, but they're not great either and are sponges.
The infiltration phases are ridiculous and useless. Dracula is supposed to be powerful, but he can't even take a simple enemy while beating up big monsters (bosses).

The pacing is atrocious, sometimes forcing us to walk in slow motion and QTEs are pointless.

I preordered Indiana Jones (PS5). Here's hoping it's good.

I've heard from multiple trusted sources that this game is the best Indiana Jones release, movie or otherwise, since The Last Crusade. I feel like people are quick to call even mediocre entertainment amazing in the current media climate we live in. This makes me a little hesitant to play it, at least at full price, but it is a modern game on my radar, at least for now.

The flaws that came up often were the gameplay and the fact that there are collectibles but apart from that, I also read that it was a good adaptation.
I don't know if you're a subscriber, but you can always try it on Game Pass if you don't want to pay the full price.

It took a long time, but I finally managed to complete 100% of Crisis Core !

Minerva took a long time to bring down. She's not necessarily very interesting to fight (she's a HP sponge) but it's done.
OCN gave me a hard time; it took me several hours to get to the last scene with Cloud. It's a very frustrating system.

Sonic x Shadow and it's very good.
I really liked the Sonic part, but the Shadow part is better. It's a bit normal since he has powers and the handling is somewhat based on Frontiers.

The only thing I didn't like was Planet Wisp because it slows you down and the Doom mutation handling, which is really bad and unintuitive.
The Time Eater boss is pretty bad too; he takes too long to beat. I preferred the Shadow ones.

As for the rest, they're on the right track. I love the game so much that I'm doing it 100%.

Final Fantasy XVI and and it hurts to go after rebirth.
Uninteresting mono gameplay without any depth
QTEs for everything and nothing, but especially useless once again (seriously, countless QTE just to open a door or destroy wood...)

The game is slow. Cutscenes galore and when you can play a little, it's to walk slowly or do a QTE.
Awkward / cringe scenes SPOILER: the one on the beach, ultima.
No towns.

Everything is repetitive: the fights and the uninteresting side quests.

A game that has no identity and that falsely wants to be mature with no budget.

To say that there are people who criticize the gameplay of rebirth to praise that of ff16...

I'm on rebirth and I didn't expect to like the game as much. I haven't finished it yet so I might edit my post later.

The fact of having an open world scared me a little but in the end, it's not as horrible as Ubisoft's. There are a few quests but we're never overwhelmed by them.
Chadley's are a bit redundant though, even if there is a "lore" behind them.

The towers don't need to be activated (except for 100%) if you explore the maps.
Well, there are still some quests that are a bit crap like Johnny's or the one with Aerith where you have to sniff shells. The one where you also have to pick mushrooms, my god...

What I find unfortunate is having to play and succeed in certain mini-games for the proto-relic quest.
The gameplay is truly divine

The game is generous and teeming with impressive details, they must have really pulled their hair out to implement all that. Even if they probably reused assets.
The game is beautiful in cinematics but in game, we can end up with coarse textures that are reminiscent of the PS3/PS4. It's also a shame that there are stuttering problems, there are also the same lighting problems as on PS5 so they lied by saying that they had reworked these aspects.

The game is also varied, it renews itself throughout the story (even if everything is not necessarily good, like the shinra manor)
I can forgive the little clipping that there is because technically it remains incredible, like the display distance where we can see the details or city in the distance.
Like the moment when we unlock the tiny bronco to cross the ocean, we can see the mines that we have traveled or even go directly to Junon.

The music is grandiose, they have outdone themselves once again.
The staging is on another level, I just got to the gold saucer and it's just magical.
On the other hand, they made a big deal about Zack but we don't see him much during the game.
Zack is a character that I like but i don't understand the point of having him tease only to see him at the end. It's very fanfiction and fanservice.

I like the little caves that we can find in Corel like the one where there is a well of life or for the esper.
For the parade at Junon I expected it to be harder but I succeeded the first time.

Edit -
The game is not without its flaws :
It unfortunately uses the codes of some sony and ubisoft games like the yellow tracks, slow single joystick climb, narrow single joystick passage

Chadley and Mai who harasses us, mai who speaks during the fight with her rattling voice which means that we can't hear anything.
Speaking of which, the audio mix is awful. We can hear the music more even when lowering the volume than the voices.

It's only one chapter, but the moment where we crawl could very well have been done in a cutscene. Same for the vacuum cleaner or the QTE to be redone several times, it's really not necessary.

The rigidity of the character in the open world is quite weird too, especially for parkour.
The work they did on the game is really impressive, I can't believe it.

Star Ocean The Second Story R
I finished the first part with Claude and even if I liked the game, I'm still quite mixed.

The OST is good but quite forgettable, the AI is really bad because even by putting on "balanced action" it won't do anything if it has no more MP. (especially the mages)
The fights become very messy when there are several lines of enemies and attacks.

The gameplay is not bad but you quickly get the hang of it, it's quite repetitive.
There are too many things to assimilate at the beginning (skills especially)
Fortunately there is a skill to make farming easier, because the game is very poorly balanced even on normal difficulty and it can become punitive.

The game is very beautiful, I love the modeling of the cities.

Maybe I'll see later to prepare for the endgame.

Overrated: Ōkami
Despite having played Ōkami around eleven years ago, it's regularly a topic of conversation between a friend and I. The two of us and another played through the game together, and we were appalled at how a game with such high praise was so disappointing. I'll briefly mention its negatives.
 - Too much hand-holding: A lot of information is repeated, time and time again, stating exactly what the player must do which prohibits the player from discovering on their own what to do.
 - Unfulfilling side objectives: Normally, side content is something I naturally gravitate toward accomplishing, but I felt what's available was quite underwhelming with little variety or depth. Additionally, it seemed like there was little time to explore the world at large beyond progressing through the main narrative.
 - Poor tone: In short, much of the game regarding dialogue and character design is crude and sexualized. Perhaps that's fine for some games, but I'm of the opinion that these choices did not complement the atmosphere at all.
 - Gameplay loop: Above all, though is the gameplay loop. If players are wanting to see the game's ending, they essentially must beat the game three times. Each of the three boss encounters (which should signify the game's at the first battle instance) feature the same boss enemy and are nearly identical in strategy. The gameplay sequencing between these moments remains stagnant too, so it genuinely felt like, by the time the credits appeared, I had beaten a lackluster game three times.

Of course, I'm aware of the praise for Ōkami's gameplay regarding brush controls and for its art direction. I, too, believe these are successfully designed and implemented. However, the game's faults are too apparent and disruptive to the overall experience. I remember falling asleep as one of the two others players on several occasions—actually, I think we all fell asleep at some point without the control in hand.

I never really liked Okami either, I dropped it after 7 or 8 hours of playing.
I find the game too talkative and the gameplay with the brush a little imprecise, which is what irritated me at one point when it came to progressing in the game.

For Sunset Overdrive, the game is not bad but too repetitive.
