Got my copy of Kingdome Come Deliverande for the Switch today. Otherwise I only got the last few Sims 4 expansions that I was still missing.

I'm mainly watching TV shows (now busy with the Chinese show 九义人 from 2023) but the last movie would have been on Christmas: 8-Bit Christmas. To be honest we just opened HBO Max and quickly searched for a Christmas movie to watch during dinner. But the movie left us surprised, not because it's so good or so. It's your average Christmas movie, nothing special but enjoyable enough. But the thing is, the whole movie is about how the guy got his first Nintendo and well... I won't spoil the ending, but after keeping living up to the moment he finally has his Nintendo the ending really leaves you feeling like "f*cking hell".

I think my only goal is to get around buying Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone on GBA. It's not rare or expensive, but I just had different priorities this year and haven't come around to it. Once I have that one, I have a copy of every unique Harry Potter main game until the 6th. I had the 6th as a kid and it was so horrible that I gave up on it, and now as an adult I've decided to only collect the first 5. I do miss some spin-offs like Quiditch Tournament but I never liked the quiditich in the games anyways.

I played those games so much in my childhood they became iconic to me. Remember every day at school just waiting for school to end so I could go home and play. Back then on PC and the original XBOX, which sadly got lost later when we moved. Anyways it makes it a part of my collection I'd like to finish, and I'm almost there.

Perhaps another goal is to get one of those later GBA with nicer screen to play GBC games. I now play my GBA games on a DSlite, but that doesn't work for GBC, despite me thinking I had childhood memories of doing so .

Otherwise just continue collecting based on wishlist and what I feel like playing over time.

Kingdoms Of Amalur: Re-reconing. Somehow I skipped this one before and no clue why. It's quite fun.
Changing between this and Hogwarts Legacy currently. Both on Switch, so I can continue on train.

It says "what was everyone's favorite listens this year?" so I'm just gonna base it on that and not on releases this year:

Ayumi Hamasaki - Remember You (2023) Great album overal. Especially love the Nonfiction remix, but there are many good songs on the album.

Koda Kumi - Heart (2022) Great comeback for Koda. While I do dig her beat-trap stuff I was quite into this album as well.

Epica - The Phantom Agony (2003) & The Divine Conspiracy (2007) Somehow got really into Epica this year, especially the older stuff. I was really into metal as I was young, especially (underground) black. But somehow the last few years it changed to mainly Asian pop music. Every now and then I still turn on some metal album. This year it mainly seemed to be (older) symphonic stuff. Some other mentionables are Within Temptation's Enter & The Dance and some older Nightwish.

Bruce Springsteen I just listen to a lot of different albums and songs depending on my mood. Can´t go wrong with the boss. That being said, I wasn´t too big on the latest release (Only The Strong Survive, 2022).

Kpop, I listen to way too many artists here. Mainly girlgroups and mostly 2nd and 3rd gen. There are a few newer groups I was quite happy with like Ive and Le Sserafim, but I find much of the new stuff isn´t my jam. Some of my favourites have been 2NE1, SNSD, T-ARA, Nine Muses, Jewelry, Psy, Afterschool, KARD, Blackpink, Botopass, Chung Ha, CL, CLC, Dal Shabet, D.Holic, Everglow, EXID, Hot Issue, Itzy, Jessi, Loona, Mimiirose, Pocket Girls, Rainbow, Six Bomb, Sonamoo, U-Know Yunho, Seunngri and Badkidz. In no particular order.

Otherwise been listening to quite some Jpop, mainly Chanmina, Faky, Tomomi Itano, Mika Nakashima, Namie Amuro, Nana Tanimura, TeddyLoid, XG, and Happiness. Also some Vietnamese artists have been on replay a lot, mainly Toc Tien, Dong Nhi, Huang Thuy Linh, Chi Pu, and Min (please forgive my lack of Vietnamese characters). According to my Last.FM account Britney Spears and Weird Al Yankovic also score good this year. Western pop party anthems type songs with some upbeat EDM music are also something appreciated this year.

Classic Video Games / Re: The PS3 in 2023

Still use my PS3 regularly for PS3 and a few PS1 games. Got a separate PS2 for those games. I'm not too much into most modern games (but that's just taste really), and the ones I like I can play on PC or Switch so I haven't felt much need to buy the PS4 and PS5.

I don't mind the resolution. The lack of 1080p never bothered me really, but then I also play on my old PS2 which most of the time can't so widescreen without stretching out so I end up with black bars and a square screen.

When I bought this PS3 a few years ago it was ridiculously slow and the harddrive was making noises. Turned out it still had the original HDD with a production date 5 years before release inside . It was worn out, I was surprised it was still alive really. Replaced it with a 1TB Samsung SSD and it's been running smooth since. But maybe I just have low standards since I don't own the newer consoles. But I can say the difference is real at least, even the issues often mentioned online with crashes and corrupt saves in Dragon Age Inquisition disappeared. Considering these are reported to show up while moving around during auto-save, I can only assume it stems from the HDD being to slow to save the game while continuing to play. It makes me wonder how much other issues would have been caused by old slow HDDs.

About the controller, which model do you have? Between my the DS1, DS2, 3 DS3, and DS4 I have (the later only used on PC and Switch), the DS2 actually feels the cheapest to me together with 1 DS3 (CECHZC2E A1). The plastic feels thinner/weaker to me and the whole controller feels less sturdy compared to the DS1, while the other 2 DS3 (CECHZC2E & CECHZC2U) are quite nice and I would place it just a bit below de DS1. All are fine with me over al tho, I have no real issues with any. I have more dislike for XBOX controllers, but that's more because they're too big for my tiny hands (I was already sad the DS4 was getting bigger) and because I prefer both joysticks at the bottom.
