General / Re: What are you playing?

Recently obtained Paleo Pines, supposedly a relaxing game. I'm not sure if I like it or not, but I certainly wouldn't say it's relaxing, and there some strange choices for this type of game like limited bag space (which I found out on Steam is because a member of the team decided that smaller bag space apparently makes it more challenging? Except items don't disappear from the map when you leave it, so it's not challenging so much as it is a nuisance when the loading screens for each area are pretty long). You can't even collect all of the dinosaurs because you only have a limited amount of places at your ranch.

I've also got a copy of Waga Ryuu o Miyo: Pride of the Dragon Peace which, going by the opening, I think is going to be more fun for me. I love games that allow you to pick your own starter.

Classic Video Games / Re: Croc is coming back apparently.

I was hoping Croc would come back, but I'm starting to think he might be one of the characters we won't see again, or maybe just as an LRG style emulation game.

I watched a video of someone who worked on the games and they apparently had a plan for Croc 3 where you'd help raise other crocs in a multiplayer-style game but it got turned down, would've been interesting to see that instead.

Most of my complaints have been mentioned... Especially that this generation is mostly just download keys only. I miss the days when I could trade my games with people.

I also don't know if it's because it's so much easier to make games, but there are just so many low-effort games out there now that barely even function properly or last for about an hour before you complete them. Sure, those existed before now too, but it's so hard sifting through them all just to find one game that might actually be worth the asking price.

I'm still updating mine, but I probably won't bother adding digital games because I don't really own that many. I prefer to keep track of my physical games.

General / Where do you buy your retro games from these days?
« on: August 13, 2024, 02:25:25 pm »
I've been trying to finish off some of my game collections, but it feels like my choices are either more limited than ever before or just in general more scattered.

For a long time ebay was my go-to but ever since they allowed free listings, it seems like all I ever find are the same overpriced games from the same sellers relisting for years on end, sometimes even putting the price gradually higher for some reason. Facebook marketplace I've only been lucky with once, it's otherwise the same problem - people asking a hundred for a game that's only worth fifty according to sales reports. Vinted, same problem.
Car boot / garage sales used to be a great place to find cheap games, but my local ones have changed the way they operate so unless you're also selling there's no point in even trying because buyers have to wait an hour for sellers to 'set up' (but half of the sellers can be seen browsing other sellers' stalls before that of course).

Is it just a case of hoping for the best these days?

Marketplace / Re: Looking For / Help Me Find Thread

Looking to buy NTSC copies of Spyro the Dragon games. I'm mostly looking for the ones on my wishlist, but I might consider other box variants. Prefer complete with manual, condition to be at least good but I might consider 'decent' for certain games.

Please note that I'm in the UK, so to save me paying out loads of different shipping prices, I'm only looking to buy at least 4-5 games or more for a single purchase.

I might also be interested in copies from other regions (but not the UK PAL releases), please get in contact for those.
