Hardware and Tech / Re: Busted NES cartridge?

Here is how I clean game contacts.

  • Go over the top and bottom of the contacts with Isopropyl Alcohol and a cotton swab
  • Use a WHITE eraser to scrub the contacts (both sides). These are just the standard white art erasers that you will find.
  • Goto 1 and repeat until it is very clean

Don't use anything other than the white eraser. I also have tried using fine sandpaper but I prefer the eraser method. It is not as abrasive.

I frequently use a hair dryer on high to warm up some stickers (ones from Gamestop especially). Once they get warm enough they will easily come off.

I also use GooGone, but be careful using this and start with SMALL amounts. It can discolor some cartridges although I have never tried it on a CD. This is usually my last resort.

GooGone also works great on removing marker, but again be gentle and start with small amounts.

There are a few that stand out

  • Beating Legend of Zelda (NES). First game I ever beat.
  • Beating Dragon Warrior I (NES). Second game I ever beat.
  • Learning Reverse Engineering and bytecode modification to hack Eye of the Beholder I (PC)
  • All of Final Fantasy VII. First Playstation game I ever played.
  • Completely Pwning The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall (PC). Played the hell out of that game

Doing the same here!

I'm actually on the lookout for a complete version of DOS (6.22). My modern displays just aren't the same since the resolution is so high.

I'm going to be going through parts and what not that I have lying around although I'm pretty sure a lot of it is too newer.

We should try and swap some parts if we have any. Fortunately I do have an older CRT monitor lying about that still works.

I frequented a few Goodwills in my area, but have in general stopped. I have found a few games that were cheap that I wanted to add to my collection, but for the most part it usually isn't worth the time, unless I am going to browse for other stuff.

The Estimated Value price formatting is not properly formatting to two decimal places when it ends with a zero.

Estimated Value:   $5.2 [via PriceCharting.com]

Classic Video Games / Must Have Games for NEO GEO Pocket
« on: February 17, 2014, 08:45:50 pm »
Hey,

Just today traded a few things to a friend for a NEO GEO Pocket Color. Received Metal Slug: 1st Mission and Sonic Pocket Adventure with it.

I basically missed out on the entire NEO GEO era (except for the few arcade titles I played in the arcades).

What are some of the must have games for this system?

Game Gear for me was kind of a let down.

More recently, the Neo Geo Gold X was also a let down. I was hoping for something a bit better quality.

Don't use eBay as a -hard- price guide

I have been trying to decide how I want to price. I'm not too worried about a dollar here or there. I might pull out the games that are worth a significant amount more than others, but overall I will probably sell all NES games for instance at the same price or something.

Sniff out the obvious resellers.

Yeah, I want to avoid this. There is another flea market where a reseller works out of and he has retail prices on most things.

all I can say is be willing to work with people on deals

Definitely.

Thanks for the feedback!

Marketplace / Selling at Flea Market
« on: August 18, 2013, 12:19:00 pm »
I have an opportunity to get a table at a local somewhat upscale flea market. There is currently no one else selling games at this somewhat small place.

I'm not looking at doing this to make money but more so to help expand my collection and to get rid of some of the extra inventory that I have accumulated.

Does any one have experience with this or any suggestions?
