Hi There!

A buddy of mine and I have an ongoing podcast about game collecting, inflation of the gaming market and current gaming topics. If interested we'd appreciate any subscriptions we can get on our YouTube channel or podcast hosting site.

How would I reach Jason to change my username?

Eh, I gave up. I had been waiting awhile so I just suffered through the whole thing. I no longer need the other account though (NsShadowSerpent), so if that's something that can be deleted that'd be good.

Ah, I'm so sorry about the delay. If you like, I can ask Jason to see about importing your collection into your new name.

Maybe if the admins set up one day where people could change their usernames if they want, and then leave it at that, so they don't get username change requests all the time? Just a thought.  :)

That could be abused easily.

If this is ever implemented it'd still need to be approved by someone higher up.

Sorry for reviving this post but it is something I came to think about again.

How would this privilege be abused? I've been part of a great number of forum based websites that allow for a change in usernames. Seems like implementing such a tool would be great for those of us that have a great deal of games associated with our current login.

Site Feedback / Re: Missing Games in Database

Hm, that is very odd indeed. Occasionally I swear I've added things in before that I find later were never added, but I always assumed that maybe it was just an error on my part.

As pacpix has said, I don't recall Matt ever mentioning anything about losing information. We lost some stuff in the forums, but as far as the database and collections go, those were always backed up.

But yeah, that's not a bad idea about exporting your collection from time to time. That way, you can always double-check if any info does go missing.  Items being merged or edited shouldn't affect the users who have that item in their collection...

In any case, thanks for mentioning it, ffmaniac2050! I always make the mistake of assuming someone's new when I haven't seen the name much in the forum. I should learn to check the profile page to see if they're actually new or not ;)

No worries! Glad you guys are always quick to respond. I'm going to actually double check my whole collection over the next few days. I'm finding additional games that I know I put in a while back but they don't seem to be present on here. Also going to export everything afterwards. On the bright side, I have more games than I thought I did 24 hours ago haha!

Haha, always better than the other way around... When you add games to your collection then find that they're not actually where you thought they were  :-[

Very true!  Thanks for the help

Hello,

I am sorry if this has been mentioned before.

I decided to add in some games I purchased recently and upon entering them I discovered that a number of games I input previously had just up and vanished. Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Most probably because the entry was already in the database and you created a double. Entries shouldn't start with "The", it should look like this - "Legend of Zelda, The: Twilight Princess."

No they were not new entries. Everything I place in my database here is based on existing entries. I have made very few new entries over the last few years so it's definitely not a newbie mistake lol

Hello,

I've actually been a member of the site for a few years now haha. Honestly I can't remember the names of all the titles because there were a lot. The games were placed in  over the last few years and while going through my collection I noticed a number of them were gone. I never create a new entry unless I am 100% sure it has not already been created. I think I have made less than 10 new entries if I am correct.

A buddy of mine mentioned their was a bug on vg collect a while back that was patched, so I am thinking it may have happened a long time ago.

What do you want to change it to?  I'll pass it along to Matt.

"CAVGIadminX" is what I would like to change it to.  The current name was made for me a long time ago :/

Is there a way to change usernames? If not, can we add this feature? I want to obviously change my name, but I don't want to put in over 1k in games again :(

« on: January 28, 2015, 02:04:38 pm »
Please Do NOT buy replacement labels that do not have any markings they are reproductions. Even though you have no plans on selling a game now, in the future this will piss someone off once they find out it's fake. Also YOU might tell that buyer its fake, don't mean he will do the same.
I understand your felling but in my particular case just want to have the most indentical label as possible, wont gonna make the same mistake that I did when I was younger, am talking about selling my gems  :'(

I completely agree with you man.  As long as the game looks great I don't care if it's a replacement or even some badass alternate art.

Yes, the labels do say "reproduction label".
So I have decided to start picking up crappy looking copies of higher end games (if they're cheap enough) and slapping on replacement labels.  I've been using an online vendor and his work is pretty flawless so far.  Not point on, but close enough.  They're for personal use and I was wondering what kind of experience everyone else has had.
Just wondering if those repro that you purchased had the Reproduction Label printed too ?, am trying to find a good seller that can manage to sell them to me but with out that line, need them for some NES titles  ;D
