General / Re: How Many Collectors Only Collect What They Enjoy?
« on: March 01, 2021, 05:51:09 am »
I have some games in my collection I "hate" or don't like, like Rise of the Robots of Shaq Fu, but the majority of my collection to start is made of games I used to own as a kid or had to sell off when I hit some pretty serious bad times almost 20 yrs ago.  The rest are games I had rented or played at a friends house, or borrowed when we swapped systems for 2-3 months at a time (I had a SNES at first, friend had a Genesis, we wanted to play the other side so to speak so we traded systems for 2-3 months and had a BLAST), and while I still have some games to go on my "used to own" list that are prohibitively expensive (MMX3 USA and Final Fight 3 for example) I enjoy it all.

So you're saying he's an jerk and has issues yet your surprised he got banned?

As for losing all his games I would believe that would fall under anything PS+ related, but if they blocked his unit from signing on then yeah, he cant download them again but hey, all this is laid out in the user agreement.

Dude, gonna be real here: what is the purpose of this post?  Play stupid games and win stupid prizes and it sounds like he got what he deserved.

Hardware and Tech / Re: Looking for Gaming PC Ideas
« on: October 30, 2020, 10:36:08 am »
If you're in the market for a desktop (what I recommend for gaming anyway as you can more easily upgrade parts as you need) I would recommend NZXT.  I know this is going to sound like an advertisement but it's not.

My friend who does TAS's was looking for something to help speed up the process as he was using an old, slow laptop and he was looking for top of the line but didn't feel like building it this time around.  He got what we have both nicknamed "The Beast" and it's great.  His TAS work sped up at least 20x and he's also thinking about gaming too since it's all set up for it.

You can 100% build your own model or pick from a prefab one, looking at their site they have some "Starter PC Series" starting at $700.  I myself plan to buy a dedicated gaming PC from them as soon as I get a job *fingers crossing, it's rough where I live*.

I would definitely look into them.

General / Re: Your Opinions Of Vibrating/Rumble Featured Controllers

For me I turn vibration off right away.  Thanks to my fibromyalgia rumbling actually annoys me, weird I know.  Years ago when it was new, starting off with Star Fox 64 and it's Rumble Pack, it was a fun and novel thing.  Now it just bugs me.

The maximum I will spend on a retro game is usually around $100 and that is if it is a good deal, like it's normally more than that price.  I have only done that twice so far: Mega Man X2 on the SNES for $80 (Like an idiot 20 yrs ago I sold my friend X2 and X3 for $20 each, oops) and Art of Fighting 3 on the Neo Geo MVS for $90.

I am sure I am not alone that I try to get the best deal possible which is getting harder and harder every day, even Neo Geo MVS prices have skyrocketed in the past year or two and the majority of those games were pretty common.

It was not hacked or modified, it was dirty. I bought a copy of Super Mario All Stars off of Ebay years ago and it had a bunch of crazy glitches, hit the X button and you would change powers, neat stuff. If I turned it off and back on it was still like what I was describing.  I cleaned the cart and it all went away, kinda wish I didn't do that.

So no, hacking the EEPROM and then reprogramming the game using Assembly to randomly mess up would have been a huge waste of time and resources.

Neo Geo AES.  My brother and I first read about the system in a GamePro when I was 11 yrs old and we would always dream about being able to play the arcade games at home.  While many years have passed not too long ago I bought a 2 Slot MVS "Big Red" for my collection, but I would still love an AES as well.

Video Showcase / Re: Must Have Games For The Wii U, What's Your Choices?
« on: January 13, 2016, 11:47:04 pm »
Bayonetta/Bayonetta 2.  Literally the ONLY games I have played on my Wii U, also the only reason why I bought the system to begin with.

Site Feedback / New Feature Request: Personal Feed Viewing
« on: August 12, 2015, 12:59:58 pm »
Love this site and I apologize if this has been brought up in another post already.

My suggestion would be to make your own activity feed easier to view, sometimes you wonder when you added a game to your collection and currently you have to remember when that happened or have a friend on your followers list tell you via their feed.  Why not be able to see the feed right away for yourself and not just your friends?

I think how you have it planned out is how I would do it myself, is a good idea.
