OK the title for the entry can be

Makko Multi Game Doctor 8M
In description you can put the color
The box front for this is the same between the 4M and 8M unit, so you could make an entry for 4M as well.
The box is here (it is obv a gif so would need to be cropped and saved to JPG before uploading here)
https://www.famicomdisksystem.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/MGD1_Box.gif

I'm presuming that the thing that is in your picture but not in the picture on the box is the part of the system that is connected to the particular console you are backing up from. These appear to come in a separate box as well. Also the disk drive is not in this box or the one for the top part.

So the entry you make can only be for the unit itself for now, until it is confirmed what exactly comes in the box and/or what boxes the other parts come in. So if you add a photo to cart art for the main unit itself, make sure that the top part is not present.
sounds good, tyvm!

It would go into Other Accessory
https://vgcollect.com/browse/accessory

And to make sure we don't cause a headache later, you are going to need to find out how it was sold. I read that a disk drive was sold separately for MDG1, also that there are multiple colors for MDG1 as well. Bung made the first two, but Makko also made them, and there seem to be more clone that came later. If you need help to identify exactly which one you have, you can post pictures here, or post the ebay itm link if it is still available.
i believe the one I have is the bung version, it is black colored, but i will post it here, it did indeed come with the disk drive too

recently acquired a multi game doctor 1 from eBay. i have no idea what this would be classified under though. basically uses floppy disks to back up and read ripped games for the super famicom/snes, PC engine/turbografx, and genesis/mega drive. i would consider this to be a gaming peripheral of some sort.

if anyone knows, please let me know, thanks.

Video Game Database Discussion / Re: IBM PCjr Section?
« on: July 08, 2023, 02:29:27 pm »
Hey guys,

Just curious if we have a IBM PCjr section? I'm asking because some of the software actually came on cartridges. The one I have is called "Hardware Reference Library - Cartridge BASIC", and I'm honestly not quite sure where to file it under. Thanks!
more than likely it would just be under the regular "PC" section

First, see General Image Rules section here:
https://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,10837.msg177804.html#msg177804

Also, the image you submit should not be the huge image that your phone can make. As you can see, the site makes images very small, so the smaller the image is before choosing to upload it, the better. The maximum size I usually submit is 800px in width, but 500px is better. The site will shrink an uploaded image to 200px width with constrained proportions. If you try to upload a multiple thousands px width image, it may never actually show up on the entry or make duplicate and/or blank entries because it takes too long to transform the uploaded image.
Providing images without owning a scanner is certainly possible. For about half of the images I submit, I rely on photos I've gathered online.

If you are to submit images this way, ensure the photos are taken from a front-facing view and not at an angle. Most importantly, though, is to crop the image so that only the box art is shown without any visible background.

sounds good, found a couple of the others online but i just uploaded a picture of my own for one of the others! i think it looks pretty decent

Video Game Database Discussion / question about database pictures
« on: March 23, 2023, 02:46:38 pm »
i have quite a few titles that are not and not on the database, with some of them there are no pictures online.

ex: i have a US boxed copy of Worms on PC and i also have a copy of Space Racer on DOS and Cosmic Soldier: Psychic War on DOS, both sealed boxed, but absolutely no scans of the boxes are found anywhere on the internet. this goes for quite a few games i own too and not just these three.

i am not sure whether or not i absolutely need a scanner to add pictures to the database, because i do not own a scanner at all. i would love to upload pictures of these online, and i have a google pixel 7 with a pretty nice camera.

please let me know your thoughts

$20 for a boxed Atari Lynx back in 2008

vice city > gta 2 > gta iv tbogt > IV > gta iv latd > V > III > gta 1 + london expansion

unplayed: san andreas and all of the mobile/portable gta games

just like what happened with the atari bubble, the more common stuff will become cheaper and cheaper and the rarer titles will still fetch a pretty penny.

though not too sure about these next generations of retro games because they are far more playable so this might not be the case.

11
would pcjr have its own separate category or should it just go under the PC section? especially considering the pcjr titles that come on cartridges.

I have noticed that NES stuff is getting cheaper. Hard truth, but it's about time people realize that most of the NES's library (regardless if the games are licensed or not) are complete garbage lol, and a lot of those games aren't even worth $10 to me. Might go back to collecting NES stuff soon, haven't bought an NES game since around the time they went way up in 2014.
