General / Re: What percentage are you a collector vs a gamer?

For long time, i been 70% collector, and 30% gamer.  Recently its been changing, in last 2 years, because i am pretty much 85% caught up to all collecting, i want to do for anything before PS4 era.  Already gotten main pieces/most important pieces for my collections of games i want to play, and keep forever, till day i die.

So now i am worry about less collecting, keeping eye on some modern games, PS4/PS5/Switch.  I feel like as time will go, eventually i find few of those rare pieces off my Want list i hope, for reasonable price. I be able to than just focus more and more on playing vs hunting down good deals.

So i am more like 60% Gaming now and 40% collecting.  Its quiet nice, to have library of almost any game i want to play on each system from earlier childhoods/teenage years to young adulthood/adult life.

Just beaten, Shin Megami Tensei V, on First playthrough, Hard, Beaten all bosses.  As well DLC hardest boss. Gotten Secret True Ending.   = Loved it.  125hours.

Playing other games i gotten recently over holidays.  Waiting for end of January for Pokémon Arceus at end of the month.  Play it till Elden Ring comes out.  Than their bunch of awesome games from Square Enix coming out in March including Triangle Strategy, i might finally get true Spiritual Sequel to original Final Fantasy Tactics game that i always wanted. (which is also my Favorite Final Fantasy Game.)

.hack G.U. Vol 1.   

I set, and beat the whole game in 1  seating.... on day of the release..... took me like 20-24hours.  I passed out afterwards.

One issue i am noticing recently though, certain games releasing new.... dont make it past 6 month to 2 years, due to low print, and end up going over $80+

Their also other games i cant think of... but ya their certain games that are brand new, they come out and have such a small print run.... they gone within 6 months - 12 months and prices go up crazy amount


edit: so if you have any weird video games, might be good idea to pick them up day 1.

I am honestly surprised, that their is no company out their, you can just pay to make you a physical copy of your digital game.  Were you can pay licenses w/e to have your favorite games made into physical copy, of most updated version of that game, or backups.

It would be really cool if a company did that, you buy digital games, and your favorite digital games, or when console is near becoming obsolete, you pay like $30 to get have it made into Bluray/Cartridge.  You can even pay extra money to have Custom made Artwork for it.   

Or if you own for example .hack//link japanese version for psp, you can have the fan translation version made into cart ridge for PSVita as a example.

I feel like we going slowly towards realm of music/movies.  Were people going to pirate first before they buy the games. aka buying physical cd to support the artist/buy digital version. Or just streaming services Game Passes, like Netflix.

So i found couple more games, while looking at the store on my PS Vita Today.

Elminage Original (rarest PSP game, only 300 made physically, you can play it on PC, but this only way to play on PSP/PSVita.  Its  a 50hour+ Dungeon Crawler, if you like games like Wizardy, Etrian Odyssey)

Corpse Party: Book of Shadows (sequel to Corpse Party) (again you can get on PC)

Legends of Heroes Trails Second Chapter (this game is sequel to Trails in the Sky 1, make sure you get this if you like Trails in the Sky series) (but i do warn that 3rd one in the series, only came out on PC.)

No Heroes Allowed!

Missadventures of Tron Bonne (Expansive PS1 game, side story part of same universe as mega man legends 1-2)

Shadow Tower (similar to Kings Field games (first person dark souls))

Tomba! and Tomba! 2 (expansive PS1 games)

Unchained Blades (you can also get it in Eshop on 3ds) (Dungeon Crawler)

Valhalla Knights 2: Battle Stance (Enhanced version of Valhalla Knights 2 with some improvements)

Adventures of Mana (only other way to play it is on iOS) Aka Final Fantasy Adventure (With up 2 date graphics)

Orgarhythm (interesting Strategy/Rhythm game)

A Rose in the Twilight (You can get it on PC)

Black Rock Shooter (interesting RPG shooter)(only came out digital on PSP)

Malicious Rebirth (interesting RPG, but can get repetitive)

Now from what i read only DLC especially to get would be apparently Drakengard 3 DLC. 

Anyone else got any other games, that be very worth of getting or DLC for certain games we should defiantly own before it goes away?

Still happens to me, but it seems to happen alot in PS4/Switch Era.

There just so many video games released, with very small batches of print, especially in recent months, games that just came out recently, are already hard to find, and going need to buy a couple.

Also with whole Playstation Store shutting down, going need to buy/download couple PS1 games i want on the go/Exclusives on PS3/PSVita that only came out Digitally.

i bought both Shantae games, cause i missed the PS4 prints, been looking for cheap copies and no luck, so i am happy to get this two on Switch.  This will allow me to have all the Shantae games. Trying to get my wife into them cause she loves platformers.

I think Limited Run Games, as Necessary Evil.  Especially with Gaming Industry trying to push on us digital copies.  Eventually i feel like video games just going to become Netflix service. Season 1 - 15 hours of gameplay, etc etc.

I am just trying to preserve little piece of heaven for myself, to retire on/ give to kids if i ever decide to have any.

But ya, i only buy from places like LRG, play-asia, to get games i want to player or really loved the digital copies, just want to keep physical, when Playstation 7 comes out i still have my copy of the game.

Only thing i am scared about the most as time goes by, is Hardware.

its what got me into "Hoarding" of Video Games, and probably my best during High School years. Defiantly thought me how to get thru hard times. It is my favorite Console.  Favorite Game on their? Final Fantasy X cause it was my first game i got on the console, it thought me about friendships/love.

Others i like as well was Shadow Hearts, Grand Theft Auto 3, TRAPT, .hack and GU series, Grandia 2, Arc The Lad, Armored Core 3, Zone of Enders 1 and 2.

Way too many great games on their to name, but i defiantly recommended the ones above.

i dont know how your room looks like, but if you have any open Wall space, maybe.... couple wall book cases?

or a Table that is also a chest?  I use one for my game room, were you can lift it up and grab controllers/skylanders/guitars that top of it usually keep clean and use it to rest my feet/food/drinks ;p
