General / 24-Hour Gaming Marathon

Hey peeps, we're going to be hosting a 24-hour charity event for a local charity named Hotdogs for the Homeless this weekend (August 29-30th) from 7PM CST to 7PM CST. We'll be streaming it at www.twitch.tv/retrogamersociety if you feel like making fun of me dying all the time

A friend and I are actually going to be streaming a bit there going forward as part of the NES Challenge - where we're going to attempt to beat every NES game. We started last night and it was pretty brutal due to my lack of current NES skills.

Some of you on VGC enjoy hearing what RGS is up to from time to time - so here it is

Modern Video Games / DARK SOULS II !!!!!!!!

So who's played it, who loves/hates it, what's the deal?

I like the game. At first, I was really disappointed as I decided at the 10 hour mark that I really enjoy DS better. Now that I've got 30-40 hours behind me, I really enjoy it. From made some changes that I am still skeptical on, but overall? Awesome.

Marketplace / TurboGrafx Games Needed!

I just picked up a TurboGrafx-16. I need some games! I currently have Keith Courage and Bonk's Adventure. Other than that I'm open. I don't want the card only, but don't need the cardboard box (jewel case is a must).

So, a friend and I put out a little video outlining the top 10 games each of us played in 2013. Some are new, some are old. Thought I'd post it because some of you (especially those who know me) might get a kick out of it. I might have got a few facts wrong, but hey, we were winging it

Modern Video Games / A Link Between Worlds

Who has it and what do you think? I popped it in for the first time last night right before bed. It's super nostalgic and I'm liking what I'm seeing thus far. I'm barely into the game - maybe 30-45 minutes.

If I had to give it a rating on nostalgia alone, it would already get an 8 or 9 out of 10!

Modern Video Games / The Evil Within

So I haven't been following the next gen stuff much since the E3 drama, but this game caught my attention.

Shinji Mikami (his studio is Tango Gameworks) is pretty much a badass when it comes to GOOD survival horror games. Bathesda and Tango are making the game and it looks pretty awesome. Supposedly the game is going to go back to survival horror roots and basically be a completely dynamic true survival horror game. I'm pumped.

If you're not familiar with Mikami, here are some of the projects in which he was involved:

Hey everyone! I'm sure most of you are aware that I run a group named RGS. We have recently expanded into Kansas and New York (literally NY today). If you're so inclined, feel free to check them out! Also, feel free to join one of our other groups if you're close by or just interested in what's going on. We have a website, groups on FB, a YouTube account, etc. We currently have over 1000 members and are growing strong.
