Classic Video Games / Super Metroid Playtronic?
« on: October 27, 2017, 02:48:04 pm »
So i got my copy of Super Metroid in the mail today. One thing i noticed that on the label it says "Playtronic" Ive never seen this on a cartage before. So i looked it up and it's a South american company that distribute the game. I have no problems with having this. However whenever i did buy it off of Ebay the picture showed the american cartage and even stated it the the US version (which it seems they both are still the same). Is there anything real difference between them? I paid $28 for it. Just wondering.

Edit #2: Update: I opened up the cartage to find what you see in the pictures. The game is a fake. I just reported the person and requesting my money back. I am not okay with someone trying to sell fakes/repros without stating it in the listing or on the cartage. The game does work on my SNES Jr but not on my Retron 5. Either way this person has been reported and hope to get my money back. Thank you guys for the information.

General / Not For Resale: A Video Game Store Documentary
« on: May 24, 2017, 02:04:57 am »
Just saw this on one of the video game facebook groups I'm in. I think this would be a documentary to have. I'm sure a lot of us on here can appreciate something like this since we are all collectors. I know there is a retro game store here in central FL that I love. I go to them every chance I can get. So seeing a Documentary about brick and mortar stores and how they survive and such would be awesome to watch. Check it out

Classic Video Games / I'm new here, just joined a few days ago.
« on: May 20, 2017, 11:19:37 pm »
Hey, guys, I'm Megasan and I'm new here. I just found this site a few days ago. Once I found it I got all excited to join. I spent the first few days adding in all my games to my list. I'm working on adding in all of my swag. Even though this is my second post and I don't know why I didn't think about making this post first before the other. I'm a huge retro fan. I collect video game stuff for all consoles and systems from new to old and PC. However, i actively seek and collect for the PC, NES, SNES, PS1, and PS2. I will pick up stuff for all other consoles but I just don't go out of my way like I do for those. I also try to collect Japanese versions of games too if I can find them. My SNES is small right now but it's mostly filled with Japanese games. I do have a "modded" SNES Jr that I play them on. I also do youtube but a lot of my stuff right now is overwatch or vlogs but overall i do mostly gaming stuff on there. I do from time to time talk about certain games on my youtube. Like my last game, i talked about was the 20th year anniversary of Castlevania sotn. which happens to be my most played single player game of all time. So i think thats enough about me for now. I'm looking forward to interesting with everyone on this site.

Classic Video Games / Repro Game Carts
« on: May 20, 2017, 11:09:01 pm »
Just wondering how do people on here feel about repro carts for older games. Me personally I don't try to get repros of old games. Unless it's a game that didn't come to America. Like I only own one repro game which is Sailor Moon another story. I paid $35 for it and got it as a pink cart for my SNES. I had a few reasons to go with a repro for this game. 1: It never came to America, it was only in Japan and Europe. 2: The price. to buy a used copy of the game it's setting at around $45+ or from what I have seen. So decided since it's a game that I greatly wanted not only for my love for the anime but it's something I was legitly interesting in playing and just owning it for collection reasons. I do plan on buying an original Japanese cart too since I do collect both American and Japanese versions of games.

I can see getting repro's of homebrew games since it would be awesome to play homebrews on the real consoles themselves rather than a emulator. But overall I try to avoid repros when it comes to original games that come out. What about you guys?
