Hardware and Tech / Famicom Disk System Error 2
« on: February 16, 2020, 10:54:26 am »
Greetings all.  I acquired a Famicom Disk System with error 2 every time a disk is loaded.  I figured the likely culprit was a loose or missing belt.  upon receiving unit I found that while it did not have the original belt (part of that was melted to the board) but had an in-tact black belt.  This belt did not provide much in the way of tension especially compared to the new ones I ordered.  However, nothing changed once I replaced the belt.  Still get error 2.  By definition this error relates to power to the disk drive.  Now both before and after I can see the disk header moving and hear the disk spinning.  I have used brand new batteries and two different AC power supplies via Sega 3025 and 3025-1 power adapters.  I have checked continuity through most of the two simply boards and have found nothing.  Any suggestions?

Classic Video Games / 16bit Prices on the upcoming 2018 holiday season
« on: November 17, 2018, 01:13:41 pm »
Greetings all.  I am probability going to be proven wrong on a thousand levels ( and I'm okay with that ) but my recent trips through the world of ebay have revealed something a bit surprising.  Prices appear to be going down a bit.  So I live in East Tennessee where if its not on craigslist or letgo, ebay is your last hope.  Those of you who don't live in major cities understand.   So every weekend I will scan the listed friends above for new additions to my collection.  Now I have been of the mindset that prices will be higher during this holiday and tax return seasons than normal.  However, I find that SNES games aren't fetching as high a price and even turbografix16 systems are less as well.  Now there are a few possibilities; market is more saturated as people sell off product to spend on xmas presents, those thirty-somethings got the retro itch out of their system, these new fangled "classic" systems have satisfied the masses, or I'm just bonkers and am reading to little to quickly.  What are your thoughts on the current situation and what have you seen in recent years?
