General / Anybody playing Rainbow Six: Siege?
« on: May 26, 2019, 12:55:25 pm »
Hey folks, long time no see  :D

As some of you might know, I work on Rainbow Six: Siege... And I come to you today with some goodies. I have five codes for 15 Alpha Packs each, and one code each for in-game exclusive chibis that came with the physical figurines for IQ, Montagne and Bandit.

Shoot me a DM and let me know which code you want, first come first served  :)

(I miss you guys  :'( figured I'd at least share some love)

News / Interactive figures/cards categories revamp
« on: November 28, 2016, 08:56:56 pm »
Hello guys!

Yes, you're reading that right. The long-requested, long-discussed (http://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,5444.0.html), long-awaited change is now finally here!

Most people felt like it made more sense to classify these figures and cards by their game category rather than by region, and it does comply more with our overall way of doing things.

So lo and behold, the categories are now as such:

    Interactive Figures and Cards
    • Amiibo Cards
    • Amiibo Figures
    • Disney Infinity Figures/Power Discs/Play
    • LEGO Dimensions Figures
    • Pokemon Rumble U NFC Figures
    • Skylanders Figures/Traps/Vehicles

Thank you all for your patience with this! If you have any comments, questions or suggestions, please feel free!

Hello all!

We're happy to share that there was some big rework in some categories. First of all, Atari systems were getting a bit jammed, so they now each have their own main category in the "browse" page. A few missing system and accessory categories were added as well.

Also, digital game categorization was quite a mess and it was requested many times to make it more clean. In the "browse" page, Nintendo and Xbox digital games have now been bundled respectively under Nintendo Network and Xbox Live. All three current console digital services are now consistent and, hopefully, easier to understand. As for sub-categories, we talked about different options and settled on the following:
The naming scheme used is the actual, official platform name (like "Wii Shop") rather than the "game type" name (like "WiiWare" or "Virtual Console" in some previous cases).  This means that a few categories have been merged under a new platform name. For example, "Xbox Indie Games" and "Xbox Arcade" are now combined under the "Xbox Games Store" platform, since this is their actual platform. This removes a lot of ambiguity between some previously existing categories.

If you have any comments or inquiries, please post them here!

Thank you  :)

Off Topic / The "Original Christmas Gift Ideas" thread
« on: November 01, 2015, 03:53:45 pm »
Now that Halloween's behind us (yes, I'm that early), it's that time of the year again: "What the hell am I getting for [Person X] for Christmas?!"

So I thought that it might be nice to have a thread where we share anything cool, original or different that we stumble upon until Christmas, in case it can help others get an awesome gift for someone!  Feel free to share in any price range, stocking stuffers are always cool too!  :)

So far, a few ideas I've had for my own gift-giving:

Useful items
- Health items that everybody thinks everybody has but you know someone who doesn't (e.g. I have a friend who complains every time he feels sick that he doesn't own a body thermometer to know if he's down with a fever, so I'm getting him one). This can be a thermometer, a thermotherapeutic ("magic") bag, anything.

Goodies for fans
- Vinyl stickers, patches, or badges of characters or logos of their favorite video game, TV show, comic book...
- For the Harry Potter fan, a Hogwarts (or Beauxbatons or Durmstrang) acceptance letter (https://waa.ai/vMFC)

Fun moments
Sometimes it's just too hard to find a physical item that a person would like. In that case, good memories can be a great thing to offer!
- Initiate someone to tag ball or laser tag
- Have fun in an "Adventure in the trees" park (https://waa.ai/vMFc)
- Rent a house in the trees for a week-end
- Run in water bubbles (http://www.thebubblerollers.com/)
- Rent a Water Jet Pack (http://www.jetpackamerica.com/)

What are your ideas and cool finds? :)

Site Feedback / Xbox digital games categorization
« on: August 24, 2015, 07:47:52 pm »
The other admins and myself are currently reworking some game categorization, and we would like some additional input from you on the Xbox digital games (through all 3 Xbox generations).

First of all, what we are looking to achieve is to regroup all digital categories under the Xbox Live main category, with a naming convention probably similar to that of the Playstation Network as to keep things tidy and consistent.
(If you want to compare the categories listing, you can do so here: http://vgcollect.com/browse )

Our question for you is the following: what sub-categories would you see/prefer? What would be both accurate and intuitive, as to avoid confusion but still be true?
You can suggest to fuse some categories together as well as to create new ones.

If you need more clarification, don't be afraid to ask. Thanks!

Just a heads up for anyone who purchased or planned to purchase Vanguard Bandits on the PSN: GaijinWorks can send you a pin for $5, with proof of purchase of the game. It says it's a limited-edition, so grab one while you can, if you want i!

Quote
To celebrate the PSN release of Vanguard Bandits, we've been able to right a wrong from the game's initial release for PlayStation.

Back in the day, we created lapel pins for almost every Working Designs release.vanguard_bandits_pin-beveled.jpg At the time, we weren't able to create one for Vanguard Bandits because our contract didn't allow it.  However, now that we've re-licensed the game for PSN, we're finally able to make promotional materials, and we decided to create a pin for fans who've purchased the PSN release of the game.  The pin is the game logo on a gold background. Overall size is approximately 33mm x 12mm and the back has the same butterfly clasp on a single pin post that our other Working Designs era pins had. This is a limited-edition pin - when they're gone, they're gone.

If you'd like one, print out a copy of your Vanguard Bandits PSN purchase receipt (they email this to you after making a purchase), a note with your name and North American address, and a money order payable to Gaijinworks for $4.99 S/H to:

GW/MP VB Pin
C/O GAIJINWORKS
P.O. Box 493399
Redding, CA 96049-3399

The new pins come polybagged, and we'll send one out to you as soon as we receive your qualifying request. NOTE: You MUST include a printout of your PSN purchase receipt or your request will be returned unfulfilled.

General / Super Smash Club for Canada! (event, contests)
« on: September 16, 2014, 07:13:43 pm »
You heard right, dear Canadian friends! We finally have something special that our American brothers don't, and I'm not talking about long and cold winters :P

Nintendo announced today a "Super Smash Club" for Canada. This consists of a few contests, and a few events (in Toronto, Mississauga, Vancouver, and Montreal) held in Future Shop stores. The events' rules will be set by a contest held on Twitter and Facebook. The other contest is for cosplay, artwork and such. I invite you to follow the link if you want more details ;D

If you read the rules and details, it says that the rules contest's prizes are Smash-branded towels! I kinda want that  8)

Marketplace / [for sale] Zelda Twilight Princess Reorchestrated (ZREO)
« on: September 13, 2014, 08:26:10 pm »
The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess Symphony is a beautiful album reorchestrated by ZREO, and it's their last album ever. Still sealed, very good condition. It was stored ever since I got it.

Price is $100 USD / $145 CAD and includes shipping with protection and shipping confirmation (those things cost a lot over here, eh). I'll also ship it in a box with plenty of padding to keep it safe.  :)

I can ship outside of North America, but you'll have to pay for the difference in shipping too.

Here's what you get:

The game is free to download, but you need the base platform thing and some figures to play it. Some people say it gives you some Club Nintendo coins, some say it doesn't... I downloaded it 5 days ago and I still don't have a survey available, so I'm thinking it doesn't.

I guess this is most interesting to people who already own a USB base platform and a few figures, or if you can find a good deal on them.

Like the title says: register both (3DS and Wii U) games on Club Nintendo, get a 2-CD soundtrack! I'm really excited about this, since A) I freaking love soundtracks, and B) I'm getting both versions already.  ;D I haven't taken the time yet to listen to the tracks samples on the official website, but I'm guessing the music will be great.

General / Club Nintendo platinum/gold reward 2014 are out
« on: July 16, 2014, 08:38:33 am »
Looks like it's only downloadable games this year  :( I liked having some cool Nintendo merchandise to expect for Christmas. Oh well, I'll probably get either NES Remix or Dr Luigi, since they're download-only games anyway!

General / eBay selling tips?
« on: July 07, 2014, 06:48:04 pm »
I've been thinking for a while about selling some stuff on eBay, especially stuff that's harder to sell on Kijiji/craigslist. I know many of you here are used to selling there, so do you have any tips and tricks for a newbie? Like how to avoid being tricked by buyers, or general information like how to get your money with the lesser transfer cost from paypal, or anything you wish you would have known before starting to sell.

Thank you fine folks!

Many limited or collector's edition come with a soundtrack CD. Is it okay to add an entry for the soundtrack? Theorically it's included in the CE bundle's entry, but if someone gets the soundtrack alone, I think it's easier to keep track than to add the CE and note "soundtrack only" (especially since sometimes you don't know it came from a CE). Also, my personal reason to want this is that I love VG soundtracks, and would like to keep track of all the ones I own.

I've seen a few entries like this, but I wanted to ask and make sure before adding mine  :)
