General / Collection Plateau...anybody experience this?
« on: April 18, 2015, 11:52:24 am »
Hey gang,

I'm at a weird spot in my collecting right now. I spent years grabbing all the games I wanted and now with the exception of just a few titles, I feel like I have what I want. My only wants now are to finish my Sega CD and Saturn sets, and continue to collect Neo Geo games, which can be quite expensive so I just tackle those as I see good deals. I don't "hunt" anymore, because I fins now that I spend too much time looking for games I need to make it worth the end result, so by the time I factor in gas driving around, and my time spent searching for a title I might want, it's easier just to buy it off ebay and call it done.

Has anyone else hit a plateau in their collection to where it feels like you are at a stand still?

I've also considered purging some of my collection. Partly to  make room, partly to focus more on what I truly enjoy. It's tough to think about parting with all the stuff I've spent so much effort to acquire though.

Off Topic / Just stopping by to say hi
« on: February 27, 2015, 09:38:00 pm »
Guys and girls,

I know it's been so long since I visited and a lot of you probably don't know or remember me, but I just wanted to drop  by and say hi to all the folks here at vgcollect. Still to this day I would rank this as the friendliest gaming community I've ever run across. Everyone was supportive of everyone and no one looked upon each others' finds with jealousy, just mutual admiration. Between work, traveling for work, and pinball, I've been a ghost around here. But I hope you're all doing really well and growing your collections with all the things you love so much.

Personally, my collection has shifted to basically Neo Geo items and new pinball machines, but the random Sega CD or Saturn game still sneaks into my collection if I can find it.

If you recognize me, I'd love to hear what the "core" crew is up to, as well as I'd love to hear from newer members and what they think of the site that reignited my love for collecting.

Good luck and happy hunting!

-Brett

Hey guys,

It's that rare time of year when I figure out what doubles I've accumulated, and sell those mofo's off! I'm offering 10% off the total order if you take 5 items or more, and 15% off the total order if you take 10 or more! Talk about bargains! So here's a link to the games....   http://imgur.com/a/6aKX0  ....and let me know if you'd like details or extra pictures of a particular item and I'll get that info. I accept paypal as a gift or you can pay the fees, or good old cash or check is even better. I will charge actual shipping, and you KNOW I'll be wrapping these babies up in some bubbly wrap!

Final Fantasy VII - Greatest Hits for PS1(no manual) $22

Double Dragon V: The Shadow Falls for SNES $9

Super Double Dragon for SNES - Label has some sticker residue that is stuck on there pretty good, I'm not brave enough to want to mess up the actual label, so new owner will have to try their hand. Orrr, just play it because it's a badass game! $30

Metroid Zero Mission for GBA $15

Metroid II: Return of Samus for Game Boy $12

Tetris for Game Boy - FREE with any purchase if you want it. Actually, FREE to whoever wants it! He's seen some hardship in his day but still a fun game.

Game N Watch Gallery 2 for Game Boy Color $5

Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins for Game Boy $9

Super Mario Land for Game Boy $7

Zelda Link's Awakening for Game Boy - Looks like a turd but plays like a champ $10

TMNT Fall of the Foot Clan for Game Boy $5

Kirby's Dream Land for Game Boy $8

F-1 Race for Game Boy - complete in big box with the 4 player hub $12

So I want it all GONEEE so I have room for more games, so buy this stuff up and I'm always open to trades that involve COMPLETE Sega Saturn or Sega CD games!!! PM me with any questions or concerns.

I'm happy to report it's awesome, and a great storyline to boot. 3 is still my favorite thus far though.

Marketplace / FS: 31 Playstation Magazines complete with demos
« on: February 27, 2013, 10:37:39 am »
Just checking interest here for any Playstation collectors that may want some Playstation magazines. I collect old magazines but I'm not a hardcore PS collector so there's not a lot of need for me to hold onto these. Let me know if there's any interest and we can work out a price.

General / Just a general Thank You!
« on: January 20, 2013, 02:51:48 am »
I just wanted to acknowledge how much I use and appreciate this site. Having said that, a huge Thank You goes out to Matt and Scott for keeping the site up to date, reliable, and most of all....it's FREE!!! I think we could all do our part in clicking a few of the ads from time to time as every little bit can help. I know I'm not the only one, as I have several local buds that use it as well, and I for one use it almost daily if I'm out on the hunt for games, because I hate when I accidentally buy a double. It's saved me lots of time, lots of money, and it's just a great way to track a collection. My brother is highly involved in my collecting activities, so he knows a lot about vgcollect, and he is SOOO jealous that he doesn't have something similar to track his Hot Wheel collection.

Anyway, that turned into a mini rant, but I just want you guys to know you're greatly appreciated!

Forever Thankful,

Brett

Marketplace / Anybody have an extra Sega CD?
« on: June 21, 2012, 03:26:44 pm »
Hey guys, my Sega CD just crashed, and I'm distraught to say the least  :'(

Any chance one of you have an extra that you wouldn't mind parting with for too terribly much? Mine was a gift from my brother at Christmas and he got me a boxed unit and everything, so I'd really just need the base unit. Model 1 or model 2, no preference, just as long as it plays.

Thanks for any help/leads you can give.

Classic Video Games / RADIANT SILVERGUN!!!!!!!
« on: September 14, 2011, 04:14:08 pm »
Omg it just launched today and I bought it! I have wanted this game for ages, but never realized I could've played the JP version on my Saturn using only a Game Shark, so I was always waiting on a good deal on a JP Saturn. This will at least cure my itch until I find a hard copy for a decent price.

Modern Video Games / Catherine....anyone played it?

I've heard so much about this game, but have never played it. Does anyone have any solid time logged to where they could either recommend it or not?

Off Topic / Where are you from?
« on: August 19, 2011, 06:11:06 pm »
I thought this might be cool to introduce where we are at, and it also might be helpful in locating games if we could help out other people in our region. Always nice to have a fellow collector keeping their eyes open for that one elusive item.

Me....I live in Edmond, OK, which is really close to OKC. Most of the used game stores around here are pretty lame, but if you stay on it, you can find some gems here and there. I moved here from Dallas and still try to hit those shops when I visit.

Right now I'm focusing on growing my Sega Saturn collection, so if you have any for sale or have seen some good deals, please give me a heads up. Thanks.

General / Good price for a Samsung GX TV?
« on: August 16, 2011, 01:13:45 pm »
There's one available locally for $50 and it includes the remote and manual. I want it but in reality, it's only a 13 inch TV and I don't think I'll be playing on it all that much. Is $50 a great price or is that pretty standard?

General / Adding arcade games - thoughts?
« on: August 07, 2011, 05:14:11 pm »
I was wondering what the community thought about adding arcade games to the list? Or is vgcollect more interested in only listing console games? It's just that since I've started collecting arcade games, I certainly consider them part of my video game collection as a whole. I have pinballs too but I don't know if they would really qualify since we are talking "video" games.
