Modern Video Games / P.T. and jailbroken PS5

I just want to hear what people think about this?  I realize there is no way to stop modders
from jail breaking any tech much less the PS5 but to then go through all the trouble
To put P.T. (Playable teaser for a Silent Hill game that will never exist in a full fledged form) is mind
boggling to me.  I get that P.T. was and IS very special but why are we wasting energy
on a “game” that Konami will not ever support or develop??

whats the point in getting physical ps4 and 5 games anyway now?

they require so many patches and updates  the discs are practicly useless asside from being nice to look at.  its sad but thats the current state of things people wont see what an all digital future means till its too late

Well I would rather have a physical license to a game than a digital one.
What happens when that digital game (license) is delisted?  A digital license located in the “cloud”
is easier to take away than something in my hands that would have to be physically removed

I plan on starting a "Mom and Pop" retro gaming store after I retire from my career in my old age.  After I die I can leave the store to a son or daughter (when and if I have one) or to a niece or nephew that has an interest in video games.

I usually don't mind Remasters or Ports because it is usually a game or game series that was popular and/or sold well in the past.  I don't see anyone
clamoring to get a Remaster of Shaq Fu, Superman 64 or Duke Nukem Forever.

General / Opinion of the New Switch Model

I am not a big handheld player. I own the GBA, the PSP and PS Vita but I honestly don't play them at all except on vacations or long road trips.  I have never owned or played the Nintendo DS.  I exclusively play my Nintendo Switch in docked mode so I was disappointed to see the only real extra feature being the OLED screen (something the Vita had day one back in 2011).  What is your opinion of this new model?  Frankly I am going to pass on it.

Are there any games you've bought, played and beat the same day?  For me it was Super Mario Bros. 3 and the original Metal Gear Solid.  I just could not stop playing either of those games until I got to the end credits

I don’t have the money or the space to buy a bunch of crap games I’m never going to play. I do a lot of research and only buy games I will like.

Ditto for me.  I also collect 4K UHDs and Bluray movies, comics, Music CDs and Magic cards so I have to spread my spending out on everything.  I don't ever buy just games so I limit the games to those I will enjoy playing!

Off Topic / Re: 2021 in Movies

Marvel Films (2021) - At this point, there are so many Marvel films, it's kinda crazy.  There's Black Widow, which I'm not super excited for, but could be fun at least, which is up first.  Then there is Shang Chi, a character I know nothing about, but could be interesting.  Then there is Eternals, another I know nothing about so I'm curious where that goes.  On the other side of Marvel, there's Venom 2, which I hope will be way better than the first film, it wasn't anything special other than the fun interaction between Venom and Tom Hardy and that I want them to have Spider-Man swing in to connect it to the character proper.  Morbius is after that, a character I only really know from the old cartoon tv show, but could be okay, I'm not sure about that.  And supposedly the third Spider-Man film is hitting at the end of the year, which is gonna have a whole bunch of crazy multiverse shenanigans with Spider-Men and Villains from previous movies showing up and could be real wild.

There's probably a few others I missed that I'm interested in watching, but the Marvel films so far have not been talked about for streaming services, so I'm curious what will happen with them.

The third Spider-Man film you mentioned is actually Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness where various Spider-men will make an appearance.

2021 goals

1. Play more Nintendo games.  My Nintendo systems seem to get neglected every year
2. Acquire a Dreamcast again and build a solid library for it (sold mine in 2005 due to financial woes)
3. Try and acquire a PS5 before the end of the year
4. Platinum the Dragon Age Series along with the Bioshock Collection

I think I'm going to bow out this year.  I made it to 52 last year!  However, I got a lot of things going on in RL this year so not sure I can do a traditional challenge.  I do plan on going back to some previous titles and complete trophies/achievements.

My main goal with game collecting is to only buy games that I will enjoy playing.  I do a lot of research before seeking out specific games to make sure it is something I will enjoy.  I don't buy a ton of games because I also collect Blurays/UHDs, music CDS, books, comics, and Magic cards so I have to split the amount of disposable income I have between all these hobbies.  Sometimes I will blind buy a game but I usually end up regretting it, lol
