General / Collection Plateau...anybody experience this?
« on: April 18, 2015, 11:52:24 am »
Hey gang,

I'm at a weird spot in my collecting right now. I spent years grabbing all the games I wanted and now with the exception of just a few titles, I feel like I have what I want. My only wants now are to finish my Sega CD and Saturn sets, and continue to collect Neo Geo games, which can be quite expensive so I just tackle those as I see good deals. I don't "hunt" anymore, because I fins now that I spend too much time looking for games I need to make it worth the end result, so by the time I factor in gas driving around, and my time spent searching for a title I might want, it's easier just to buy it off ebay and call it done.

Has anyone else hit a plateau in their collection to where it feels like you are at a stand still?

I've also considered purging some of my collection. Partly to  make room, partly to focus more on what I truly enjoy. It's tough to think about parting with all the stuff I've spent so much effort to acquire though.

Is that a TL or a TSX?  I can't really tell from that angle.  I'm still paying on a TSX for the next month or so.  Then, my soon-to-be ex will get it.

I drive a 4 door 2007 Ford F-150.  I had a 2012, but got sick of paying for it.  So I traded it for this a year or so ago.  It's paid for and it's just as good.

That is a TL sir. SH-AWD.

Well I certainly hope to get back  in that rhythm. I've just been traveling pretty consistently since last September so it's been tough to get into a normal laid back routine where I can just enjoy my games and have time to talk about them. Most weekends home were spent playing pinball or having a quick game of Destiny with friends, but work is slowing and it will surely give me more free time.

Guys and girls,

I know it's been so long since I visited and a lot of you probably don't know or remember me, but I just wanted to drop  by and say hi to all the folks here at vgcollect. Still to this day I would rank this as the friendliest gaming community I've ever run across. Everyone was supportive of everyone and no one looked upon each others' finds with jealousy, just mutual admiration. Between work, traveling for work, and pinball, I've been a ghost around here. But I hope you're all doing really well and growing your collections with all the things you love so much.

Personally, my collection has shifted to basically Neo Geo items and new pinball machines, but the random Sega CD or Saturn game still sneaks into my collection if I can find it.

If you recognize me, I'd love to hear what the "core" crew is up to, as well as I'd love to hear from newer members and what they think of the site that reignited my love for collecting.

Good luck and happy hunting!

Just stopping by to say hi and show off my best score ever!

Nice pick up!  Please tell you didn't get that at a yard sale for $50

Nice, welcome to the Neo Geo AES Collecting club, games for this console is stupid expensive, in fact my most ever paid for one game was for this console. ($300) I have about 70 games myself. I'd love to know the story behind you getting this even if it's I saw a lot on ebay and got it all for $500. BTW in case you didn't know, if you got a US system it will play "most" all Japanese carts in English. If it's a Japanese system then US carts will be in Japanese. Or is it a Japanese system with hacked bios and does both? Great pick up no matter how you got it.

Turf the day I find a Neo Geo AES lot at a garage sale, I'll be dancing the whole way home especially if there's games in there I don't own. I'm shocked when a local game store gets something Neo Geo in, I've only seen 3 games ever at my local stores, and a few in the downtown Chicago area.

Hey Flea! I've collected AES for quite a while now, this was just an extra system and adding a ton of games for me. Made a deal via a craigslist ad. Paid $1050 for everything. It's a US system.

Hey guys! It's been ages since I've stopped by to say hi so I just wanted to drop in and say "Hello!"

I'm still plugging away on Sega CD and Sega Saturn full sets, but I've also picked up a new addiction....Metal Slug games on AES!!! Oh my gosh do I love them so! There's really no better definitive game of a genre than Metal Slug. So far I have Metal Slug, Metal Slug X, and Metal Slug 4. If you know of anyone selling MS 3 or MS 5 on AES, please contact me!

Other than that I've been playing lots of pinball and filling the rest of  my  time with....boring ol' work! ;)

I hope all you guys are doing well and I still sneak by from time to time to see everyone's goodies. Lot's of collectors here now compared to the old days.

Bye for now!

And you were right  ;)

Marketplace / Wanted: Bravely Default CE

Please contact me if you can sell me a Collectors Edition of Bravely Default. Sealed or opened doesn't matter, I'm wanting to play it. Many thanks.

So I'm pretty pissed about this whole Bravely Default situation. I was going to order it on Amazon and when I went for the collectors edition it said "sign up to be notified when it comes available" so I do and I'm waiting and waiting, all the while I could have pre-ordered at best buy .com and had a copy. Amazon never got it! So now here I am assed out of getting the CE unless I resort to ebay. I'm furious with Amazon. Why would they even say they can get it if they weren't getting?

Does anyone by chance have an extra copy they would want to sell for less than ebay prices?

Side note: I am however glad to hear it's awesome and worth all the hype, I don't play RPGs much but I really want this one.

I finished A Link Between Worlds in about a week's time and it was a sensational playthrough. Highly recommended.
