Hmm, were the previous games M?  I remember going back to Dark Souls after playing Bloodborne and the violence felt oddly sterile after Bloodborne's (almost) absurd amount of blood splatter.

Uh, I'm not sure how co-opting a sexual term could ever be free of sexual connotations?  I unfortunately learned of the term while working in the construction industry as a co-worker loved to tell me his favorite way to harass his wife while she slept.  Didn't see it show up in video games till years later.

I use this 1 TB hard drive with this cable.  I haven't had any issues for the year-plus I've been using it and still not even close to filling it up with everything installed.

1. Etrian Odyssey 4 - Still the best the series has been.  This game is the reason I bought a 3DS.
2. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate - The verticality adds a lot of fun to the game.  I've definitely put more hours into this than any game on the system or in 2015.
3. Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds - Might be heresy, but I think this game is just as good as A Link to the Past.
4. Bravely Default - The gameplay is so good and the game is so pretty it more than makes up for the weaker latter half of the game.
5. Fire Emblem: Awakening - Strong, challenging tactical gameplay even if the story is cliche.  And the characters are fun despite the marriage/interaction system often being silly and clunky.

There's 1 reason this isn't being localized, and only 1 - they don't think it will sell. If they thought it would, they'd bring it over in a heartbeat. There is no sinister group of anti-boob activists behind this move.

Agreed.

They already released a DoA game this year and no one (apparently almost literally) cared as I've barely heard anything positive or negative about it.  So I can see why KT would have cold feet about this release.

I also think it's important to note that the original tweets that started this (that are in the first post here) from the Community Manager have since been deleted with KT issuing your usual "did not reflect the opinions of" corporate statement.  As for the tweets from Play-Asia rep, I think it's important to keep in mind that they have a financial interest in drumming up "controversy."

Considering Iwata's passing was due to an illness, I don't think Kimishima is just there to fill the position, personally.  There was time to prepare for a successor I'd like to think.  If the NX is another bomb, I could see Nintendo pulling from the console market (assuming that's what the NX even is or if there is even a market for consoles in the next couple years) but I can't imagine them leaving the handheld market any time soon despite the competition from mobile.  If you make a parallel to Sega with the one-two punch of Saturn and Dreamcast knocking them out of the competition, I'm not really sure that's an accurate comparison for Nintendo.  Sega never had the handheld market to buoy them or even a Wii level success.

TL;DR: I'd be shocked to see Nintendo leave video games or even hardware manufacturing in my life time.

I enjoyed Fantasy Life quite a bit despite not being too into the genre myself.  A friend who is much more into these games repeatedly mentions Rune Factory and Viva Piñata as being 2 of her favorites.

Sure, the console sales have been dropping, but I think there a lot of other factors accounting for the fact that console sales in Japan in general are at an all-time low.  Still from what I've read is that they've never had a loss on a console and certainly not on the handhelds.  I don't try to think about companies' financials that I don't have anything to benefit from knowing, so it doesn't matter to me whether they're making x or y dollars.  They keep making great games, however.  I used to argue with my buddy when we were in Jr. High as he had always purchased Nintendo consoles and I went with Playstation, but that was over 15 years ago.  I bought a GameCube in college and have never looked back on Nintendo systems since.  I'm not sure what people expect from them as I see complaints when they go after the "casual" market with the Wii and then complain about the reverse approach on WiiU (which to be fair has a lot of legitimate issues).  But I'd still sell my PS4 before my WiiU and the device I've spent the most time gaming on the past decade has almost certainly been the DS and 3DS; and looking over my anticipated games list the majority are on Nintendo systems.

They're certainly in a weird spot right now, but I'd like to see them continue to just do their own thing than to try to compete with Sony and Microsoft in garnering big AAA 3rd party support.  That's almost certainly a fools errand now.  And honestly, I'd be perfectly happy to continue to buy WiiU-like systems just to play the latest iterations of their franchises.  At least for now.

This is some really abhorrent behavior from any large company, well beyond the usual "it's just the usual stodgy Japanese work environment."  Assuming these practices are nothing new, I'm really amazed that there was such a long string of creative hits being generated from (in spite of?) this environment.

Also, kudos to the writer of that article as it's really well written.

Seriously considering getting that Vita.  It's all region free correct?

The PS Vita is indeed region free.

The PSTV/Vita TV a bit odd though, since it sorta is region free, but at the same time due to its weird compatibilities with certain games only not quite any game from any region will work on it. I know you weren't asking about the PSTV but I thought it might be a good idea to keep that in mind if you ever wanted to buy one.

The last fighting game I was "serious" about Virtua Fighter 4.  I haven't had the time or interest since college to devote to them to be competitive outside of a local group (at which I was just average at best).  I still pick up quite one every couple months or so and play them with roommate and when we have people come over they're still a blast to fool around with.  Personally, I  long since made peace and accepted that I'd only play them sporadically and would never "get good" at them.  Whatever I had as a kid that kept me entertained with playing match after match to hone any skills has since abandoned me and I generally find it incredibly boring and tedious to play fighting games for extended periods of time.
