I managed to get in on the restock/second chance for both Retro City Rampage from VBlank and Enter the Gungeon from SRG, both for Switch. Very happy about those. :)

I jumped on Evoland yesterday. I've always been interested in checking out those games so I couldn't pass that one up.

A public service announcement, the Trine Series 1-3 set that is exclusive to Gamestop appears to be the ONLY way to get those games physical, on the Switch at least (not sure about other platforms). I found out the hard way today that the Ultimate Collection for the Switch only has Trine 4 on the cart, there is a packed-in code that you redeem for the other 3 games. :(

I've actually enjoyed this last generation. The rise of the boutique publisher has brought many indie games I may not have tried otherwise into the physical game space. The AAA space, dominated last gen by the first person shooters I don't care for, diversified just a bit and popped out a couple titles I very much enjoyed (Horizon Zero Dawn, Monster Hunter World come to mind.)

I realize this gen has also been full of real dumbf*ckery- mostly involving loot boxes & greedy DLC- but those games are almost always in forms I don't care for even before the money grubbing kicks in, so it's not something that's really messed with my gameplay. My experience has been a few people realizing weirdos like me, with a preference for indies, imports, & b-tier titles got cash to burn & started selling the crap I want. Yay!

This exactly. This gen saw not only the rise of the physical indies but of the import - it's way more common now than it was at the start of the gen for imports to be released with English support. Beyond the method of release, indie games have seriously matured this gen. Every time someone talks about the Switch's poor lineup I just glance at my packed shelf and wonder what they're talking about. And in the AAA space, both Nintendo and Sony first-parties have been killing it. Capcom, possibly my all-time favorite dev/pub, has come back with a vengeance to release some of the best games of the gen. In the midst of all the money-grubbing from the likes of Activision and EA, devs like CD Projekt Red and Techland have shown that actually caring about your audience hasn't completely gone out of fashion.

There's negatives in every gen, but IMO the positives far outweighed them this time...unless, I suppose, you're a MS fan. ;)

Update: Luckily ebay prices on this have settled to around MSRP so I took the plunge and bought a copy! EXTREMELY happy about having one of these on the way :D

Good to hear! I've managed to pick up a few from ebay myself that I missed for very reasonable prices. I think they've gotten to the point where they have put out so many that the number of people going for complete sets has dwindled, so that leaves more people just collecting what they want to play.

EDIT: I popped my copy of Garega in this weekend to see if I liked it btw, was going to offer it to you for cost if I didn't. Turns out it's a REALLY fun SHMUP!  ;D

1 ) FF7 Remake
2 ) Cyberpunk 2077
3 ) The Outer Worlds
4 ) Luigi's Mansion 3
5 ) Link's Awakening
6 ) Daemon x Machina
7 ) Astral Chain
8 ) Tales of Arise
9 ) Pokemon Sword & Shield
10 ) Dying Light

I only really get excited about things that are at least given a release window - so for example, even tho BotW is probably my all-time favorite Zelda I can't really get excited yet about them just announcing that they've started working on a sequel.

1 & 2 on my list are VERY close for me - luckily they come out about a month apart next year. :D  Oh, and PSO II would have made the list if it hadn't been XBone console-exclusive. I know, I can play it on my PC (and I probably will) but I don't like gaming on my PC.

Walmart exclusively has a Switch game with a print run of 5,000.

Tiny Troopers Joint Ops XL: https://vgcollect.com/item/163368

Official announcement from the publisher: https://twitter.com/WiredP/status/1139608445101830145

BrickSeek: https://brickseek.com/walmart-inventory-checker/?sku=876561455

All over eBay already: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.A0.H0.Xtiny+troopers+switch.TRS1&_nkw=tiny+troopers+switch&_sacat=0

Amazon listing: https://www.amazon.com/Tiny-Troopers-Joint-Ops-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B07SZNVQ7T/

Ugh, Brickseek doesn't show a single copy of this in the searchable area around me - and I think it has a 100 mile search radius. :(  Why would anyone partner with Wal-Mart of all companies for something like this?

I'm definitely picking up:

Blaster Master Zero
Rogue Legacy
Transistor
Night In the Woods

All for Switch.  I was disappointed that they didn't announce Blaster Master Zero 2 as well tho.

Modern Video Games / Re: So... What about Death Stranding?

I think the announcement of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare a few days after this latest Death Stranding trailer dropped perfectly illustrates why the industry NEEDS more people like Kojima. Like his games or not, I don't see how you can't at least respect the creativity and originality he brings to the industry.

Personally, I'm very excited about DS even tho I've yet to play MGSV (something I need to correct soon). It looks like a merging of the best parts of MGS with the best parts of Silent Hill, and I'm all about that.

LRG will be starting preorders for Lumines Remastered for both Switch & PS4 this Friday. They will also be selling a CE for both systems which includes a 2LP vinyl soundtrack. The game by itself for Switch will also be sold at BB at a later date.

I am VERY tempted by that CE, but this would be my first LRG CE. Any way of knowing about how much shipping they would charge on that thing?

Super Rare Games sent me this in an email yesterday:

Quote
On the subject of the 15th game, we will be announcing it next week. This is an indie game that I consider to be a hidden gem. The artwork on the front cover is absolutely stunning and think it will be something people will be very happy to have on their shelves. It's an RPG but from a sub-genre we haven't explored before. The narrative in this title is very rich and it has been on the Switch for a while in digital form.

Anyone have any guesses?

They also said they're going to be increasing their print runs for future games from 3-4k to 4-6k, so that's good.

Oh, and Strictly Limited will be putting up Raging Justice for the PS4 & Switch this Sunday.

I was mostly done w/ my 3DS when Alliance Alive came out, so I'm happy to see that port. And I'm curious to see more about Destiny Connect.

BTW, Gamestop has sold out of preorders for the PS4 Trails of Cold Steel 2 port. Not sure if that's a sign of a super small print run or what, but I went ahead & locked in the first one from them & the second from BB just to be on the safe side.

Hollow Knight will be at BB huh? Good, that's one I can wait on & save a few bucks (my GCU membership still has another year left on it).

The Messenger is a must-buy. On the fence about Fairune, has anyone played any of those games? There's definitely bang for the buck in that set w/ the number of games included, but if they aren't that great to begin with then it doesn't matter.

Also, what's the word on Warned Collectors? Are they reliable?
