Cool! Thanks for letting us know.  ;D

Most of us - as collectors - *Always* prefer having a physical copy over a digital copy; w/o even taking into consideration episodic, expansion, costumes, cameos, music, etc sorts of DLC.

Preach. Same here. I buy games during Steam sales because they're so cheap that buying a physical copy later (if I choose to) isn't problematic. You can spend a little extra on a physical copy of the game for $10 later when the digital edition is less than $3 on Steam.

But yeah, there's a lot of content that isn't going to be accessible in the future (for free, at least) because of DLC. That's why I like that games such as Borderlands have GOTY editions with all the DLC on one disc (PS3), or the content packs come complete on separate disks.

Also, the PSP is a perfect example of how relying on current technology is going to create problems down the road. Because the PSP's wifi hardware is no longer compatible with newer routers, you can't update the systems or games through a wifi connection (on a newer router). Which means games, and the system, are vanilla unless you find another way to update.

Apply this to something like Skyrim on the Xbox 360, and... well... ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Classic Video Games / Re: Best 'classic' PC to begin collecting for?...
« on: January 20, 2015, 03:55:51 pm »
Thanks everyone!

I think I'd mostly be interested in older games (floppy disks and such), if I do ever go down that collecting road. I grew up with consoles/handhelds, so I haven't traditionally been interested in PCs, but with how cheap the games are, I thought it might be fun to try collecting.

It seems like the Commodore is pretty popular, so I will keep that in mind. Imports wouldn't be a problem. Though it does seem that obtaining a machine would be.

I'll probably ask my Professor here at college to keep an ear out for anyone selling old tech. He's a computer guy, so it's possible He might know some people who are willing to sell old machines (or might even want to sell one of his old ones).

Classic Video Games / Best 'classic' PC to begin collecting for?...
« on: January 20, 2015, 03:14:20 am »
Even though I hardly ever seem to buy new (old) consoles nowadays (as I'm trying to work on my game library instead of my console hoard xP  ), I've been watching some of LGR's videos on YouTube. So, I'm just curious, what is the best PC machine (or whatever technical term should be used) to begin collecting for?

When I say best, I'm considering the following factors:

1. Price for the machine
2. Average game prices
3. Other initial investments/upgrades required (memory upgrade, etc.)
4. User-friendliness (learning how to operate the machine, ability to upgrade if/when necessary, etc.)

As always, I'm sure that this isn't something I'll immediately begin doing, but this information is always handy to have. xD I also understand that there are factors, such as game genres and such, that can determine what machines are best for an individual. However, I'm just looking for a general answer based on the above criteria.

Also, any suggested places of where to purchase (Ebay is the obvious one) would also be appreciated. Suggested games are also welcome, as are any suggestions in general, really.  :D

I really need to get a VMU for my Dreamcast. I don't play on my old consoles at all, but it'd be nice to know I could put some time into that one. xD I have Code Veronica, but can't really play it since I don't have the VMU. xP

It's a shame that the Dreamcast didn't sell. I've only played a couple of games very briefly on there, but it seems like a lot of people really like what it has to offer, and praise the game library pretty highly. Maybe one of these days we'll end up getting a new Dreamcast console...  :)

Modern Video Games / Re: Dark Void - Sound Issues? (360)

Oh wow... really??? XD

I haven't had any problems with the actual game yet (as far as disc scratches would go), so I'm thinking that it might just be a bug or whatever. Seems the vanilla version was just a little bit unpolished. xP

Modern Video Games / Dark Void - Sound Issues? (360)
« on: January 02, 2015, 11:05:59 pm »
Just a quick question. I'm playing the vanilla version of Dark Void, and occasionally (during cutscenes), the sound begins to 'scramble'? It's not my speakers (tried it through both those and the TV), and although it might be the disk (it has some wear), apparently the vanilla version had some sound problems with cutscenes on the PC. Has anyone else had this issue on the 360?

Oddly enough, the disk had someone's last name on it, which is the exact same as my own. So I'm kind of hesitant to switch it out unless I know a scratched disk is the issue, because that was a pretty unique find. xD

I know the easy answer is to update it, but I thought that if someone else had the answer, it'd save me a little trouble having to move and shift a bunch of things to do so.

Hardware and Tech / Xbox (original) - Problem Reading Disks
« on: December 31, 2014, 07:02:45 pm »
Hi all!

So, I have an original Xbox, and it appears to have a disk reading issue. I'll pop in a game, and it'll play for a while... perhaps 10 minutes? However, after a short time, it stops reading the disk and will either freeze or pull up a message saying it's having problems reading the disk.

I know the disc is not the problem, as this has occurred with two different ones I've tried to use.

I had taken it inside a house a long time ago (when I was younger) where people smoked, and I kinda think that it might have contracted some kind of smoke damage. But I doubt that that is the problem. Any ideas about what might be wrong?

Just curious, is that P3 LE the FES edition or the original LE?
Fes didn't have a LE.

Are you sure?

I have the above: it comes with a cardboard storage box, the artbook, FES, and soundtrack. I think there was a 2007 edition (the original P3 with the aforementioned), then a later edition that was basically the same thing, except P3 was replaced with FES...?

Yeah its literally a slapped together repackaged by Atlus.

I wouldn't count this as a FES LE. I could do the same thing by just swapping out my Reg. P3 with the FES and call it the LE.

I assume yours came with the original game then, and not FES? xD

If so, I'll have to keep it in mind for the future. Unfortunately my trip to the game store today depleted most of my fun money. xP

Yeah if you jump in late into the amiibo craze, you're probably going to have to rely on getting imports or paying the inflated price on the rare ones. All those you mentioned are pretty easy to find. Some are getting uncommon but I doubt those will be fetching too high of prices any time soon.

Also, I might have an extra Pit coming since, I reordered one at Toys R Us to save a few dollars, hoping it was going to ship before my Amazon one so I could cancel but, they're preparing to ship that one. So if Toys R Us pulls through, I'll probably have an extra if anyone is interested, $14USD + whatever shipping is going to cost me. I'm open to trades but, I pretty much have everything besides Pikachu & a Rosalina preorder.

I don't plan on getting into it... at least, not to THAT extent. I might pick some up on occasion, but (at least right now) I don't particularly want to collect every single one.

Then again, I didn't plan to even buy one lol. 9.9;

Man, all this amiibo stuff is crazy. xD I kinda want to buy one, but I'm not really into Nintendo, and I'm afraid I might be tempted into buying more. xD

(Unless I happened to come across a FE one, of course.)

In case it helps, my local stores had a link figure, a Mario one, DK, Kirby, Peach, Daisy, Pikachu... and I think that was pretty much it. In case anyone is looking for any of those. xD

Good luck with your searches/pre-orders! I feel terrible for your wallets. ;P

EDIT: Link is no longer available, and those were Zelda figures, not Daisy... whoops. xD No Mario either.

Aaand I bought Samus. Dx I wanted to buy a few more, but Hastings puts those freaking huge stickers right over the box art. >~<

By way of a blessing, I was able to get my copy off of Amazon yesterday, and am very thankful to have the chance to do so. ^.^

So I just thought I'd strike up a thread and see who all is getting in on the action today! I just recently tried out the demo for the combat system which PQ is based upon (Etrian Odyssey IV, or however you spell that xP  ), and that was relatively fun I suppose, so I look forward to trying out this one. ^.^ Not sure if the style is to my taste, exactly, but I suppose that's what Persona V is for lol. x'D I'm glad they added in some 3-D models for your actual characters during the combat process. I guess I'm just spoiled by modern gaming, but I prefer having those. xP

I got the Wildcards Special Edition, but actually, I may not even open it, and may just buy a vanilla copy of the game later. xD I still haven't even played P4... I should really do that first... as soon as I finish this last month in P3P. >.<;

My wife is - she played through P4G this summer & loved it. She's now the only one of the two of us to have finished a Persona game. :P  Our copy should be here today, we got the SE as well. Got in on a price mistake at BB and only ended up paying a little over $40 for it. :D

Lol, that makes me feel a little better, then. xD Glad I'm not the only one having trouble doing so. 0.o;

Wow, really?? o.o;; What an excellent deal! Have fun with your copy! ^.^
