Modern Video Games / Re: Box art for PS5 games first look

Good god that's boring. They need Mark on their creative team ASAP!

PlayStation 5 is straight forward and consistent. No confusion there, it's the next best PlayStation on the market.

Series X on the other hand is going to confuse the fuck out of your parents.  Nintendo and Microsoft must play footsies under the table. :)

Classic Video Games / Re: Removing stickers from game art
« on: June 26, 2020, 12:02:53 am »
Hey Cobalt,

Coming from a perfectionist, I've learned some times its best to leave well enough alone.  As someone who's always trying to improve the condition of his games, sometimes it can backfire if your not careful.  If you've had the stickers on the label for 25 years, then why not just leave the sticker on there. It's part of it's history and charm now.

If you MUST remove the sticker from the label, I would try using a hair dryer on low heat for 20-30 seconds at a time, about 4-6 inches away.  See if you can peel a little up at a time.  If it doesn't feel like it's going to budge with ease, just leave it alone my friend.  At best you'll be left with some sticker residue on the label.  I wouldn't use any harsh chemicals on the label.

Just looking out for ya man.

Site Feedback / Site Feature Request - Sort by Alphabet
« on: June 17, 2020, 01:08:05 pm »
Hello there VGC Guru's,

I was hoping one day we could perhaps add the option to sort your collection by a chosen letter of the Alphabet.

For example, my PS1 collection spans across 25 pages of entries. As you can imagine, trying to find a game somewhere in the middle (L, M, or N's for instance) takes a considerable amount of clicking and page loading.

I'm picturing a little drop down box to the right of the number pages at the top of the list, where I can choose from A-Z.  I think this would be super beneficial to many members of our community  :D

Cheers,
Retro

I loved the old Sega... unfortunately the Sega we know now is just a former shell of what they used to be.  The quality just isn't there anymore.  Every now and then they release a gem, but it's few and far between.  It's sad really.

Keep those Genesis' plugged in if you really want that SEGA lovin'  ;)

Nope, your not crazy.  The way you do it now is what I've always strived for.  I even went as far as making a list on my white board with the 2-3 games In playing just to try and stay focused.

Unfortunately it never works for me. After a week I kind of drift off onto anther game or stop playing games all together. With a combination of too many games, and life things to work on, games just never become a focus of mine.

It's time for me to thin the heard big time. As for you, keep up the great work  :D

Classic Video Games / Re: Real Seal or Re-Sealed?

That's a re-seal my brotha.  The folks over in Japan shrink wrap most of their used games & hardware to keep them fresh.

I do love me some Mario Kart, my only concern with MK games is that's a TON of ways to break the game.  I've seen speed runs where people literately skip the entire level lol, So...

Let's start off the short month of April:

Wave Race 64 Challenge.

Best time on Sunset Bay: 3 Laps

Here's the manual to Wave Race

I'll update the OP with this month's challenge.

Good question SonicFan,

PC games will come at a later date, until we can come up with a good way to avoid cheating.

Until then I'd like to stick with console games.

I'm a big a fan of racing games, so I'll throw out some to start with.  Feel free to add some choice games to the list gang.

- Wave Race 64
- F-Zero (SNES)
- Wipeout (PS1)
- Beetle Adventure Racing (N64)
- Ridge Racer (PS1)

General / Welcome to the VGC Arena
« on: April 15, 2020, 02:43:13 am »
Hey Gang,

I was thinking this site needs more camaraderie. In times like were in now, I think it be pretty sweet to have something to bring us all together. Since we all live on opposite sides of the world from each other, I was thinking... We should have monthly game challenges.  Nintendo Power used to do this back in the day called the Arena.  They would post 3 challenges for that month, then you would bust your ass trying to beat the best time, and take a Polaroid picture and send them into to Nintendo Power. Good times indeed  ;D

So I'm thinking we should do that right here on VGC. Post 2-3 challenges a month, and users could submit their best scores via screenshot. This will all be played on real hardware only, with a picture of your setup, score on the TV, and your name somewhere in the picture. This is the best way to avoid any kind of cheating, and makes it a more genuine playing field for everyone involved.

So who's with me?
