Modern Video Games / Re: Shovel Knight gets a physical release!
« on: November 10, 2015, 01:31:58 pm »
I got the Wii U version and it's incredible how much you get for your twenty bucks. You get a HUGE manual (I don't know of any game released in the last decade with a manual this detailed or thick), you also get the digital soundtrack which has 48 tracks, my favorite of which is "Courage Under Fire - Armorer Village." I was literally going to buy this game a few days before physical copies where revealed and after about five months I can say the wait was well worth it. I can't wait for the Shovel Knight figure to come out because it unlocks co-operative mode in the game, which is one of the coolest uses of amiibo I've seen so far. Even if you own this game digitally I still say the physical release is worth it, especially if you don't own it for a different platform yet, I can say without a doubt that this is the best fan-serviced release of a game in a long time. Yacht Club Games you rock!

Should the Starter Packs for Skylanders, Disney Infinity, or Lego Dimensions be classified under the console of the game or under Interactive Figures?
I ask because the listing for Disney Infinity 3.0 (PS4 NA) http://vgcollect.com/item/88648 got changed to Interactive Figures.
There are a few game only listings for the Interactive Figures games such as this one for Skylanders: Swap Force http://vgcollect.com/item/57517
Should each starter pack have a separate listing for the individual game?
If the game is included in the bundle then it should be under the system the game is for, if the bundle is just figures, it should be under Interactive Figures.

Super Smash Bros. fro Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U are hands down the most hyped I've ever been for a game.

I'd like to see Runbow, Mutant Mudds, Mega Man 9 & 10 and Snoopy Flying Ace get physical releases in some shape or form.

I'm still waiting on new Smash Bros. updates, for some reason knowing more content is coming to the game makes it slightly less appealing to play for me at the moment. Also any word on Star Fox or Zelda would be great, other than that just looking forward to Xenoblade and a few others.

they said there's going to be a Nintendo Direct before the end of the year so I'm guessing we will see the Results of the Smash Ballot then
I'm hoping for King K. Rool

Gotta say Issac from Golden Sun
Isaac would be nice too, although I don't know how much variety he'd bring to the table.

General / Re: Item(s) you regret trading/selling/giving away
« on: October 29, 2015, 04:36:32 pm »
I was too little to care but we had a boxed copy of Gunstar Heroes for Sega Genesis that my mom sold for two bucks at a garage sale before we moved, what I'd give to have that now… I also remember when I was about three or four me and my younger brother were playing with two NES zappers and our mom told us to go put them back into the box. We put them in a big box which (according to my dad) contained two NES systems with boxes and boxed complete copies of The Legend of Zelda, Wizards and Warriors, Tecmo Super Bowl, Bases Loaded, Mega Man, Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!!, Super Mario Bros. 3, Tetris, Ice Hockey, Tennis and Golf. There were also two copies of Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt. I still remember my dad coming home from work and asking what my mom did with the video games, she donated them because my older brothers grades were slipping in school. This was probably 1998 or 1999 so once again I was too little to notice or care. Looking back, I wished I had stopped her though.
My Grandma also gave away her giant SNES collection which had tons of games in it, the likes of which would cost me probably five hundred dollars to buy nowadays. While I do have some of the games from that collection, it still bothers me that I didn't call her when she was moving and maybe ask for a few of them, but that was well before I was into collecting.
Personally, I've given away Luigi's Mansion, Super Smash Bros. Melee and the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time to my older bros. who had them stolen by their POS druggie roommate at the time. Thankfully he didn't take Melee which they gave back to me.
I've lost a few games over time like Sonic Advance, Mario Kart DS, New Super Mario Bros. DS, Donkey Kong Country for GBC (which was actually taken from my desk by my teacher when I wasn't at school and never given back), Super Mario Bros. DX and Dr. Mario for Game Boy. Thankfully most of those games are cheap and already have replacements for. Overall though, not really any regrets on my end. I can remember a time where we went to EB games to try and sell our ten game GameCube collection in order to afford Mario Kart Double Dash but the guy only offered like 42 bucks for all of it which wasn't even enough to buy the game. I remember me and my little bro going home upset that we couldn't get it and we had to wait a while before our dad got us the game. I am so thankful we kept our games, and from that day on, I never let someone try to rip me off again.
Interesting topic, it's good to see that so many of us kept our games and/or never got ripped off.

I'm fairly certain the new films will outdo the prequels, I don't see how they couldn't honestly. But I really think there is no chance they will be better than the original trilogy, it's just not going to happen. Either way I'm excited.

I'm a big fan.  Way more than a casual Star Wars fan.  I'm going to say something that folks may not like.

Episode I & II are ass.  Episode III is a good movie.  I dig it.  I'd even say I like III better than IV.
Episode III is the best of the prequels and is overall a pretty good movie but Hayden Christensen's terrible acting and Darth Vader's famous "NO!" just kind of detract from it.

General / Re: Is the hobby starting to finally die down?
« on: October 21, 2015, 11:23:41 am »
I ask this question because I've seen a lot of local collectors begin to sell off parts of their collection, their whole collections, or just throw in the towel and more or less stick with what they have. On top of that I've noticed that a to of the enthusiasm for collecting has died down significantly in here, in other sites/groups I belong to and among people I personally know who collect. If you ask me, I believe it is.

So where do you believe this will lead if you do believe the hobby is losing steam/interest?
If anything, I think the retro game collecting scene is even worse but perhaps you're asking the wrong people this question since all of us here are collectors.

This is the garbage we would have ended up with!  Oh, and throw in a mopey, crying Vader going "NOOOOOOOOO!"

I've contemplated this before. I've completed every Wii U game I've bought so far but I/ can't imagine the daunting task you have ahead of you.
