I started White Day sometime ago, but quickly pushed it aside for other games. Might start it back up. I've been interested in playing Sweet Home after seeing ProJared play it. I do have Until Dawn, and Deadly Premonition from the PSN monthly games I could break out.

My entire collection has been stored in plastic bins since my son was born and my office was turned into a nursery. Within the next few months we are installing a "built-in" desk and shelving for all of my books and games, so seeing people's shelving ideas and setups are helpful, and honestly just fun to see. I need to start getting measurements to figure out how I want to store it all since I have a ton of Vita games and don't like seeing a ton of empty space above them on a shelf.

Becoming a dad really put the brakes on a lot of those types of games. While I do still play games like Gears of War with my son, I tend to avoid the ultra gory games where it seems they're doing it just for the shock value. I started Diablo III back with the Necro DLC character and realized I needed to make sure my 2 year old wasn't in the room for some of it.

All depends on the game for me. If its a used sports title that I know I'll have a different one the following year I don't care as much. I'm also pretty picky when it comes to second hand stores, especially GameStop. I'll ask for a better case or I'll swap it with a nicer once from a game I don't care as much about.

1. Trails from Zero
2. Trails of Cold Steel I

5. Gears of War 4

On normal like most folks here. Generally if its a Falcom game I'll always go back through on Nightmare for the the platinum. Also, Insane mode on the Gears of War games.

I've purchased a few games from there and my experience was good. The items were as described in the description.

General / Re: Do You Ever Get Tired Of Facing Bosses At The End Of Game?
« on: February 11, 2019, 11:42:00 am »
For me, it really depends on how expectation was built up leading towards the fight.

Having the final bout™️ with Liquid Ocelot at the top of Arsenal Gear after dozens of hours of gameplay (and cutscenes) in the whole series at the end of Metal Gear Solid 4 really felt exhausting, but cathartic at the same time.

On the other hand, while I remember loving to play Uncharted 2, I hated the final brawl with the bullet sponge that was that final guy (about whom I couldn't care less)...

I have to agree with you. If the build up is done well, it makes for a better ending. I've played some games where I beat the final boss and didn't even realize it was the final boss. Then the games is over and I just sit with a confused look on my face. Games need a good payoff. Though, sometimes when you have to go through a lengthy dungeon, followed by mid-bosses, and then multiform end game bosses, it starts to feel tedious.

I see my collecting being like the modern day library you see in old movies. My plan is to have a gameroom with wall-to-wall shelves of games, and collector's items. I did tell my wife that if I die early, then have my best friend help her sell the games at the best prices. If I die of old age, then my sons will split the collection.

Even though I do buy games pretty regularly I plan on completing every game I own. Maybe not 100% (some games have unobtainable online trophies), but I aim to complete the main story.

General / Re: The Top 14 Games You Think You Spent The Most Time Playing
« on: February 05, 2019, 11:42:04 am »
1. EverQuest (Three different accounts. Two in which I dual boxed.)
2. World of Warcraft (Pales in comparison to my EQ days, but nonetheless I clocked a lot of time into this MMORPG.)
3. Final Fantasy VI (My all-time favorite game. I've played this start-to-finish over 50 times at least.)
4. Warcraft III (Most of the time is from playing skirmishes.)
5. Diablo 2 (Multiple playthroughs over the years.)
6. Final Fantasy VII (Normally a game I play once a year.)
7. Chrono Trigger (Completed every ending, and play it once a year.)
8. Gears of War 2 (I wish I knew the amount of time I clocked playing horde mode and the time to 100% the achievements.)
9. Gears of War 3 (Absolutely loved playing this with 3 other friends.)
10. Phantasy Star III (My first JRPG and I didn't know what I was going. Multiple restarts, branching generations, and backtracking.)
11. Final Fantasy X (Yearly play, plus platinuming the game.)
12. Diablo (Still play it at times to this day, and was my first online game.)
13. NHL 18 (I own several of the NHL releases, but none of the others compare to the time I put into 18's Franchise mode.)
14. Ken Griffey, Jr Baseball (Loves this game on the SNES. I never completed a season since the saves would always erase, along with the edited teams.)

I grew up with the NES, so it's one of the reasons I'm still an avid gamer. Though, I can't recall the last time I played an NES game. Most anything I've played from that era is a remake on the IOS, PSP, or GBA.

I think bikingjahuty stated it the best.

I started off exceptionally strong and then seriously petered out as soon as the summer hit. To my defense, I was studying for my Security + certification, and we had a major software deployment at my job. Sadly, I ended the year with only completing 17 games. A far cry from the 52, but I hope to complete more this year. Started 2019 out with finishing Dragon Quest 1 on IOS. I'll follow the same format from last year.

Completed

1. Dragon Quest: (IOS) Completed 1/1/2019 - Started this after completing DQ11's platinum trophy. Quick, easy, and as straightforward as you can get for a NES era game. Was cool to see where DQ started after playing the most recent release. I look forward to beating DQ2, and DQ3 on IOS as well. My goal is to beat all of the NA release DQ games this year.
2. Dragon Quest 2: (IOS) Completed 1/11/2019 - Decided to continue the Dragon Quest series on IOS after completing the first one. This release was definitely a step up from the first one as you recruit another prince, and a princess in your journey. Things are much easier with two caster/healers at your side. Looks like Dragon Quest 3 is next.
3. Trails in the Sky 3rd: (PC) Completed 1/13/2019 - It was bittersweet finishing Trails in the Sky 3rd. Wrapping up the Liberl Arc Trilogy was as quite satisfying as I got to see a part of the immense Zemurian world and the amazing character growth of the main protagonists. I've already started the fan translations of Trails to Zero to continue the story and plan on buying the PS4 releases of Trails of Cold Steel I & II. I only hope we get the announcement for Trails of Cold Steel III, and IV coming state-side.

Currently Playing

1. Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness: (PS4) I'm close to 30 hours into Star Ocean I&F and have enjoyed it more than I thought I would. The main storyline is quite linear, but I'm fine with linear stories. The side quests, recipes, multiple endings, AND higher difficulties will make the platinum a long journey, but beating the main storyline should only take me another few hours.
2. Dragon Quest 3: (IOS) After beating the first, and the second, it only makes sense to move to the 3rd one. I've only played about 30 minutes of III, so I'm interested how its going to feel with the "create a party," part.
3. Trails to Zero: (PC) Wrapping up the Trails in the Sky Trilogy reminded me how much I enjoy these games, and the whole world brought to us by Falcom. Never getting an official North American release, I'll be using the fan translations for Trails to Zero, and Trails to Azure.

Off Topic / Re: Your Favorite And Least Favorite Kind Of Music
« on: October 03, 2018, 06:26:08 pm »
I DESPISE modern country and I dislike a lot of modern rap and metal.

Modern Country is absolute trash and I am assaulted with it on a regular basis. EVERY business in my area plays modern country. Whether it's the local grocery store, dollar store, quick lube, or admin assistants' desk, it's always being played. I'd wager that 70% of the ring tones in a 50 mile radius is some bro country song. SO Many dudes around here have this misguided idea that they can make it as a country music star "cause their music tells it like it is." They're rocking their flashiest Affliction shirts, and their Diesel Brand jeans, tucked into their uncomfortably clean work boots.

I completely got derailed from the actual subject...lousy modern country.

I listen to a lock of rock/hard rock, metal, but also enjoy folks, and classical on occasion.
