Off Topic / Re: What Was The Last Movie/Anime You Watched?

Madame Web is a much better movie than I thought it would be. The dog piling acting like this is the worst thing ever is just.. incorrect. It doesn't come close to being as bad as Catwoman (even though it uses a song that appears in Catwoman) and it's also better than Morbius and Let There Be Carnage. The scene with the Britney Spears song Toxic made me like this movie. The action was better than I thought it would be based off the trailer. Looking forward to Kraven!

I almost forgot to mention this movie features one scene of product placement for Mountain Dew Code Red. Right after the movie before going home I picked up a bottle. Whoever decided to put one of the most 2003 beverages ever in this movie set in 2003 deserves a raise. I loved that it wasn't just normal Mountain Dew.

With every plot point I've heard of this movie, the clips I've seen, the hate this movie is getting is absolutely not unjustified lol When Morbius is looking to be the better made film, that's a problem lol  That doesn't mean you can't enjoy or there isn't worse, but movies like this are definitely showing a continuing problematic pattern for Sony and I have no reason to expect Kraven to be any different.
What plot points make it justified? Sony movies are in their own lane from MCU and that's a good thing. I laugh at people using "it's like a movie from the early 2000's" as an insult, that's a good thing.

Worth mentioning there are several other recent Xbox games already released on other platforms including Ori and the Will of the Wisps on Switch, Psychonauts 2 on PS4, As Dusk Falls releasing on PlayStation in March, weird GoldenEye 007 remaster thing on Switch, Minecraft Legends on Switch and PlayStation, Ghostwire Tokyo and Deathloop both on PS5.

So it's just four games and not Starfield or Indiana Jones which explains the leakers started to walk stuff back. Seems like they were all probably on the table at some point otherwise they could've said a week ago that Starfield and Indiana Jones aren't coming.

Phil won't confirm the four games but seems like it's Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, Pentiment and something else.

Reading this: https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2024/02/15/xbox-promise-bring-more-games-to-more-players/

they say live service games plural, Sea of Thieves is live service and so is.. Halo Infinite? Are there other live service Xbox games? Grounded?

Pete Dorr, known for his great taste in games, says its better than Splatoon in this stream title: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2056469184

Foamstars is a game which seems fine based on trailers. But, if I'm actually wanting to return to that style of game (notably quick matches), I'll just play Splatoon since I already own it. Live service models are not appealing to me in any way.
Splatoon is pretty much a live service model though adding new maps and weapons in their first year of release.

I guess Phil Spencer was joking when he mentioned wanting to bring back Activision IP's instead of just Call of Duty.

Toys for Bob (developer of Spyro Reignited Trilogy, Crash 4 and last year's flop Crash Team Rumble) got their studio seemingly cut in half and I'm thinking it was likely the half making Crash and Spyro and not the CoD support studio but as of right now it's not clear.

Fun new game available for free this month ($30 otherwise) with PS Plus Essential. It's basically Splatoon meets Overwatch.

The core gameplay is about spraying the ground with foam so you can traverse faster by surfing on it. Unlike Splatoon the goal isn't to foam the most of the ground. The main mode is Smash the Star where teams race to get 7 "Chills" (instead of kills) and then the best player on each team will become the Star Player and chilling them ends the game. I guess this would be like Turf War if the focus was on kills.

There's another mode called Happy Bath Survival which to me is the most like the COD Warzone Gulag? 2 teams of 4 battle but 2 players on each time are on the outside of the arena foaming the ground to help the players inside and it's a best of three.

Rubber Duck Party is similar to Turf Control in Splatoon or Escort in Overwatch where you fight to control a rubber duck and get it to the other team's side before the time is up. Probably the most chaotic mode.

In a separate menu they have Foamstar Missions and Squad Missions which are basically PvE horde battles so like Salmon Run but without collecting eggs but featured in many other games as well like GTA Online Survival or Horde in Gears of War.

There's a small hubworld but also just a quick menu to navigate around. There's lots of stuff to collect and there's a practice spot in the hubworld that you can full decorate with furniture and whatnot.

The Overwatch part comes in because this is a hero shooter so all the characters have different abilities and different methods of shooting so instead of swapping weapons like in Splatoon you swap characters. It also has a battle pass (unfortunate for what is supposed to be a paid game, I know) that is similar to Overwatch because it contains an unlockable character where it's late in the free tier of the pass or an instant unlock with the premium pass.

Seasons only last about a month in this game so new content will be added on a monthly basis including new characters and maps.

It's easy to write off new games like this expecting them to soon die out and I'm not even saying that won't happen but I've been enjoying the game and hope it sticks around for a while. I believe new content was promised for at least a year but we'll see.

It's still all very rumory, so I wouldn't put much stock into it yet until something more solid shows up.

Granted, this is all rumor based so we probably won't see it on PS5 anyway.
It's really easy nowadays to track which rumors are legitimate. The Verge isn't going to publish a report this big without evidence. If you follow leaks you'd recognize that many big names in the scene that have been proven right time and time again are standing behind this.

The Verge report doesn't exactly take the hard stance that other people are with Indiana Jones in particular and Xbox could see the backlash and reverse course still but it's definitely being considered.

If people were putting their names behind rumors that are made up and always turn out to be false then people would just stop listening to them obviously.

So rumors started popping up recently about H-Fi Rush coming to other consoles and now evidence has been found of ingame t-shirts clearly referencing Switch and (less clearly) PlayStation.

When it first was rumored it was alongside rumors of Sea of Thieves also going multiplat.

Today it's being reported that Starfield is coming to PS5 and that Indiana Jones will launch on PS5 shortly after it does on Xbox. Other prominent names in the world of Xbox leaks and rumors have stated to not be surprised if Halo and Hellblade II show up as well.

Seems like there will be a lot of developments on this throughout the year so I figured a thread to discuss it makes sense.

Stellar Blade presentation was awesome. Nice music, character design and jiggle physics.

Nice to know ZZZ is confirmed for PlayStation.

Looking forward to playing Foamstars this Tuesday.

Godzilla in Dave the Diver is wild.

PT 2

Not sure who thought it was a good idea to put that Legendary Tales game in this big of an event.

Death Stranding 2 trailer was way too long and Sony wasting more money funding another new Kojima.

Weird the only game from the initial rumor we didn't see was Concord which is supposed to release this year.

No. I remember it from years back but when I saw all the crafting in the Dunkey video I lost all interest.

Over 40 minutes with 15+ games including extended looks at Sony published games Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin.

Rumors suggest it will also feature other previously announced titles including Death Stranding 2, Concord, Silent Hill 2 remake, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Judas from the creator of BioShock.

Unannounced titles currently rumored are a Metro VR game, a Sonic Generations remaster? and Until Dawn remaster for PS5 and PC.

Devolver Digital also announced that they are announcing a new game this week so that could show up here.

Another rumored game popped up being previously announced Rusty Rabbit.
