Trying to check out this site but the filters are just not working for me at all.I do want to address the issue of many modern physical games, particularly on the PS5 and Series X/S, being little more than beefed up CD keys. I say this because the discs are definitely more than CD keys, however without downloading the rest of the game which 90% of them require, the game will either not work at all or be in an unplayable state. I've seen this with various PS4 games as well, although it is less egregious than on consoles from the current gen. What this essentially means is the longevity of collecting for the PS5, Series X/S, and even PS4 and XBONE is severely in question.
I was reminded of the site DoesItPlay?, which I'm sure you'll find interesting. The site is vastly far away from making any noteworthy dent in the grand scheme of things, but it should provide a general overview of how many games actually are fully playable without an internet connection.
Yeah I was wondering whether or not this would continue. It doesn't require internet so I guess it would. I feel like they might just disable it anyway.Online play itself on 3DS and Wii U dies April 4th. RIP Mario Kart 7 and New Leaf online play. Original Splatoon as well.
In the end, at least the 3DS will still maintain its best feature, being StreetPass. Maybe someday when nostalgia strikes, people will carry them around again.
"The point is not to force users to go down one route or another," he explains. "We offer purchase, we offer subscription, and it's the gamer's preference that is important here. We are seeing some people who buy choosing to subscribe now, but it all works."
"One of the things we saw is that gamers are used to, a little bit like DVD, having and owning their games. That's the consumer shift that needs to happen. They got comfortable not owning their CD collection or DVD collection. That's a transformation that's been a bit slower to happen [in games]. As gamers grow comfortable in that aspect… you don't lose your progress. If you resume your game at another time, your progress file is still there. That's not been deleted. You don't lose what you've built in the game or your engagement with the game. So it's about feeling comfortable with not owning your game.
"I still have two boxes of DVDs. I definitely understand the gamers perspective with that. But as people embrace that model, they will see that these games will exist, the service will continue, and you'll be able to access them when you feel like. That's reassuring.
There’s a collector edition market. There’s the aspect of gifting physical items and allowing access for people to be able to easily purchase a game in a store and gift them to their friends or family. Some people will always want to own a physical disc. I just don’t think it’s going away. Do I think physical sales might get lower over time? Sure, but will it ever completely go away? I don’t think so.
Everything is stacked against this one. Everyone knows it's the last DCEU movie so there's no sequel after this, Jason Momoa is already being recasted as Lobo. There's no urgency for anyone to see it that follows DC movies like how people follow the MCU.The new Aquaman ended up being my second favorite movie I saw in theaters this year! Not sure why people are so down on it because it's quite good.
I'm expecting to be fine with the new Aquaman, the first one got a lot of crap too (Though it did gangbusters in the theater compared to this one lol), but it was probably like my top 3 favorite of the DCEU films next to Blue Beetle and The Suicide Squad lol If it's just a goofy, fun, colorful adventure sorta thing again, I'll be great with that.
