So, Shining Force and Phantasy Star series.

Anyone play 'em?

How are they?

Which one's better?

The old Shining Force and Phantasy Star games are very different from what they've become now.

Shining Force back in the days of the Sega Genesis was awesome, and very similar to Fire Emblem. Now... it's not so great in my opinion. Nothing like what it used to be.

Phantasy Star has changed a lot from a pretty standard (but enjoyable) JRPG back then, to a pretty huge action-RPG MMO-ish type thing now. They're all pretty enjoyable.

Which one do I like better?
Then: Shining Force
Now: Phantasy Star

So, on the PS3 Sega Genesis Collection - you'd go with Shining Force?

There's a trophy in Nights of Azure that requires you to finish 300 quests. Quests are easy to finish, but 300 of them for a silver is nuts. I should earned a gold for getting that trophy last night, dammit!

Hashtag, first world trophy problems.

Haha, I get annoyed SO often at hard challenges that give only a silver or even a damn bronze trophy.

For example, this one from Sword Art Online: Lost Song.
Skill Maniac : Learn every possible Sword Skill, Magic Skill, and Special Skill for a single character.

For anyone who hasn't played the game, to learn every skill you have to level up all your weapons proficiency. A character has 3 weapon types and max level of proficiency is 1000. It's incredibly grindy... I played with Kirito the whole game and after probably 10 hours of normal play and 5 hours of pure grinding, I have one at level 1000, one at level 400 and one at level 100. And I can't grind for more than an hour at a time, because button mashing makes my thumb sore.

AND IT'S A SILVER.

/rant

Dang. That's brutal. I heard that the game was really grindy, but that's insane.

I'm glad someone understands the struggle for trophy hunting and not being amply rewarded.

dis guy does!

What's everyone doing for Mom's day?

My mom likes bike riding but she doesn't get to go out that often, so we are going to go for a ride. probably around 20+ miles. that and my dad is buying her a lightweight Trek bike so its easier for her to mount it onto her car so she can take it down to the river to ride more often.

That sounds really nice, actually. Bike rides with someone is a really nice activity, IMO.

I agree!

Hm, I'm wondering if the "Swag" category should just be called "collectibles" instead. I know the whole thing needs cleaning up, but for some reason today, "swag" sounds kinda silly.

Totally agree. Swag sounds far too hipster.

Thirded.

I also agree that it's pretty damned unimportant too, though.

Thank you guys for the congratulations, by the way :) It was a very busy but fun day. I'm sad to see all my nursing school friends parting ways a little bit

Congratulations, my brother! Well done!  Now, back to graduate school.

So, what nationalities does everyone here feel like they look the most like and identity the most/best with?

I'm a 100%, purebred mutt.

Same here.

That's why I tried picking my top for each category  ::)

For myself:

Looks = Irish.  The pale, piercing blue eyes would be a dead giveaway.

Identity the most/best with = Cherokee.  Straight up warrior from the womb.

I had a big red beard, so Irish, or a Viking!

Identity the most/best with?? uh, well, most of my best/closes friends are Hispanic if that is what you mean lol

I meant look the most like and identity the most with out of the nationalities that you actually are.

Anyone play any Mugen Souls and/or White Knight Chronicles?

I'm just looking for any of your thoughts, impressions, likes and dislikes, etc. on 'em.

Thanks you Rockem-Sockem VGC community  ;D

Mugen Souls was way too grindy for me. I wanted to like it and tried to get into it twice, but I just couldn't. It's too bad, since it's got a decent soundtrack with a bunch of good stuff composed by Tenpei Sato.

Love me some Sato!

Haha!

Looks like WKC and MS are some of the longest PS3 platinums in existence  ::)

Congratulations!! I'll be sure to pop some champagne!

Im assuming if someone came and posted "Today is Saturday!" you would still find a reason to pop the champagne.  :P :-*

Harumph!

Brother Soera...

...I'll have you know that I only partake in the intoxicants on those days that end in a "y"  :o

Also: Life advice with Jeremy: If you are about to be drafted to the NFL, dont smoke weed and post it on social media

lol what was it? his estimated contract went down by like 10-12 million? yeah that's a very costly and very stupid thing to do.

10-12 million?  that was some expensive reefer.

Hope it was a good high lol

Don't matter how good the high was -

Fuuuuuuuuck, that come-down!
