Video Game Database Discussion / Re: Error Listings and rejected edits 2021

https://vgcollect.com/item/47336 has the wrong barcode – it should be 3296580808922 3296580800922

example with visible barcode: https://archiwum.allegro.pl/oferta/gra-tekken-6-xbox-360-bcm-i7669950745.html

https://vgcollect.com/item/46047 item number for the release with a barcode is SCES-55093 (I own this disc). The SCES-55098 is for a version that's bundled with buzzers which doesn't have a barcode and should have separate entry here on VGCollect. https://psxdatacenter.com/psx2/pal_list2.html http://redump.org/discs/system/ps2/region/Eu/status/4/sort/serial/letter/b/ and https://wiki.pcsx2.net/Buzz!_Pop_Quiz lists them properly.

https://vgcollect.com/item/112402 seems to have wrong barcode inputted – 8717249598153 while I have a copy and it's 8717249598152 – there are also no Google results for the first barcode and 120 for the one I have.

I added the 5060015453531 barcode to https://vgcollect.com/item/60582 by mistake thinking it's the release I have while it was https://vgcollect.com/item/168804 which already had that barcode, please reject my edit :)

P.S. Is there a way to search the barcode directly from the site? I know you can scan a barcode and search through Android app, it would make it easier for me and avoided that mistake.

Try advanced search. https://vgcollect.com/search
Thanks! Though sadly, this won't let me search without inputting anything on name field and it seems to be a known issue to be fixed :)

P.S. It seems both of my barcode additions went through sadly :(

Again, please ignore my barcode edit on https://vgcollect.com/item/46565 – I accidentally confused it with https://vgcollect.com/item/142416

https://vgcollect.com/item/48156 – wrong barcode, should be 5030930038656

https://vgcollect.com/item/143067 and https://vgcollect.com/item/63633 are called "Play it Pinball", while https://vgcollect.com/item/55871 and https://vgcollect.com/item/125426 are simply called "Pinball. Some might be duplicate too, I own the UK one with 5060057020289 barcode but the art on VGCollect shows the PEGI version instead of ELSPA rating one so I guess https://vgcollect.com/item/143067 and https://vgcollect.com/item/63633 artworks should be swapped.

25
https://vgcollect.com/item/1208

This one is called "Smash Court Tennis: Pro Tournament 2" while for other releases it's "Smash Court Tennis Pro Tournament 2" (without a colon)

https://vgcollect.com/item/41929

Barcode is wrong, it should be 3307210124470 instead of 3307213124470, someone probably misread it as the check digit for 330721312447 would be 7 making it 3307213124477 while for 330721012447 it is correct. This can be verified on https://www.gs1.org/services/check-digit-calculator Also, Google search results for https://www.google.com/search?q=3307213124470 return VGCollect as the only entry while https://www.google.pl/search?q=3307210124470 finds the correct game.

Where are the games located? Other? Need specifics.

The games are indeed in https://vgcollect.com/browse/other/7 – there are some LeapFrog Didj, Leapster and LeapTV releases, I don't know if thy are region restricted or not, I got two shrink-wrapped copies of LeapTV games and no console to try of, but I guess I can do some research.

The leapster consoles I put in https://vgcollect.com/browse/hardwareeu long time ago but I didn't add my games yet. There are LeapFrog consoles in https://vgcollect.com/browse/hardware/2 too

For Vtech consoles there's https://vgcollect.com/browse/mobigo and https://vgcollect.com/browse/vsmile for games and consoles – @jjfly seems to show some interest in the Vtech consoles so I guess why they have the categories, but it would be nice if they could get a new main category and potentially split into the games and console cateogry especially following the wonderful research done https://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,10889.msg178451.html and https://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,10907.msg178683.html :)

Would it be possible to add a new categories and subcategories for Vtech and Leapfrog consoles and games? There's quite a few scattered around mostly in Hardware section, but some of the Vtechs have separate category. There's no games for things such as LeapTV, at least I don't find it, but I'll be going to find a few that I have. It requires doing a bit of research, but I find some threads about them here on forums and on other sites, but I can help if you need help naming the categories. :)

http://vgcollect.com/item/103486 <- dupe; I created this added entry without realizing there was one already with PSP-1006 item number but a wrong title - I realized that when submitting a name edit

Video Game Database Discussion / Xbox 360 console naming
« on: May 01, 2016, 01:58:32 pm »
Since I recently got hang of my first Xbox 360 and decided to add it to my collection here, I noticed there's a lot inconsistency in the naming of the consoles. Following the idea behind my previous post of Hardware naming I decided to submit some changes and discuss them here.

First of all, following a short section of Style Guide I changed the names in all entries from "Xbox 360…" to "Microsoft Xbox 360…" which were quickly accepted from which I thank you approvers :). However, changing it was only a tip of an iceberg, and there are still a bunch of naming inconsistencies and lack of details in the names.

After doing my research, since I never had an Xbox 360 and my systems came without packaging, it seems that as far as the fat systems goes, there were 4 main packaging versions released:

  • Core – came in matte white color with matte white disc drive, but it's the only version with no HDMI port
  • Arcade (which replaced Core) – matte white color with matte white disc drive but with HDMI port
  • Pro (which seems to be equivalent of Premium, but "Pro" is a more commonly used) – matte white with chrome disc drive
  • Elite (black consoles)

There was also a name "Super Elite" which indicated an Elite console with 250 GB hard drive added.

Among these were versions with various sizes of HDD drives:
  • Core (no HDD)
  • Arcade - 256 MB memory unit
  • Arcade - 256 MB onboard memory
  • Arcade - 512 MB
  • Pro - 20 GB
  • Pro - 60 GB
  • Elite - 120 GB
  • Elite (Super Elite) - 250 GB

I'm not sure if and how many onboard memory non-arcade models had (I assume that Core, Pro and early Arcade/Elite had none?)

After then there's "S" (Slim) and the latest "E" models which I don't have and didn't researched properly, but they should be similar/easier to rename once the details are decided.

For more details see:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_360_retail_configurations#Discontinued_models and
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360#Retail_configurations

Unfortunately Wikipedia isn't comprehensive when it comes to the limited editions variations :(

Based on the information in Official Style Guide (and also what I suggested for PlayStation 2 in my previous Hardware naming thread), the Core/Arcade/Pro/Elite/S/E should appear before the hyphen, while the limited variations should be after it. I guess bundled disk sizes should appear after it as well, so I came up with the following name scheme:

  • Microsoft Xbox 360 Pro - 20 GB [NA] (with Premium being in alt-name)
  • Microsoft Xbox 360 E - Blue Special Edition 500 GB [EU]
(with mandatory space between GB, because of style :P)

There are, however some unresolved issues with this as well. For example, the old FAT Xboxes had different board revisions, which differ significantly:
  • Xenon
  • Zephyr
  • Falcon
  • Opus
  • Jasper

See: http://www.360drives.com/howto and http://beta.ivc.no/wiki/index.php/Xbox_360_Revisions

While the changes are internal, luckily they are possible to be spotted without opening up the console. Now the question is, should these be listed as well, for example:

  • Microsoft Xbox 360 Pro - 20 GB Zephyr [NA] (with Premium being in alt-name)

I guess there are other differences worth listing, such as includsion of bundle games or accessories (Kinect).

Do you mostly agree with the changes I suggest? Also, all input and suggestions on the matter are welcome :). I also don't mind reviving Hardware naming topic to discuss it further, as long as admins/mods don't mind it.
If there's no objection of the suggested format, I will start submiting the changes to the current entries.
Also, thank you in advance for all the replies and suggestions :)
