I would be shocked if any game surpasses Elden Ring for GOTY- it's been kind of a quiet year for games generally.

I thought a CIB Trouble Shooter for Genesis would forever elude me, but I just got it in a trade today that I only had $55 invested in total (look out for those black label ps1 variants, a lot are worth $$$) It's hard to really say never...

Honestly very few games that I actually still want and are on my current wishlist are "priced out" for me- I do plan to one day drop the 5k on a CIB Dino Park Tycoon so I can complete my 3DO Longbox set. But that's about the only game I would spend that much on besides perhaps a Daytona Netlink to "fully" complete my NA Saturn set.  Keio will likely be spendy too once I bite the bullet on that one.

I'm probably priced out of ever owning a stadium events or nintendo world championship cart.  probably a cib sculptor's cut too if it remains 10k or higher and a lot of the nes super-heavies cib- if I cared more about nes maybe I would change my mind.  I'm also priced out of some of the super-heavies on original gameboy- I'm not going to be dropping 3-4k on a kid dracula or amazing tater anytime soon.

I still really enjoy this site and actively use it to track my collection. My problem is that if I'm looking for quick engagement- I can find that in my local fb collecting groups. The forum here is just a very old school communication format. If I want to share a picture in a fb group it takes 20 second- here it takes much longer. I can also easily buy/sell in fb groups- here it is more complicated.

Sure- there are definitely occasional periods during the year where I can't seem to get into any game.

Not having that problem right now though- Elden Ring is so good...

The company is abhorrent but these days you can get some ridiculous deals from gamestop- trade in credit bumps and crazy discounts- I would miss those.

I honestly don't remember the last time I saw a discount at GameStop that made me want to pick up something.  At least not in store.

When they run their promotion- buy a certain number of titles, get 50% off you can get some pretty wild deals- Gamestop this past winter was crazy- so many good deals- I cleaned up. They did buy 2 get 1 free with new games too for the first time- 50% off 1st party nintendo switch and so much more. In store and online. And when you combine that with some of the trade-in specials they run- they are so poorly optimized- people were buying titles like back 4 blood and no man's sky and getting $15-$20 more a game by trading them into a different location. Literally free money.

It is possible to get some absolutely insane deals at gamestop if you pay close attention.  But usually only in the holiday season-  otherwise I ignore Gamestop for the first 9 months of the year usually.

Have quite a few packages on the way- so depends on what arrives first. Hoping it's the CIB copy of Castlevania Aria of Sorrow that I finally snagged for a great price.

Also waiting on a lot of about 20 boxed NES, SNES and 64 titles that's coming in a few days. So that might be next.

Yeah same here. I can click on the game- add to collection and then go back and delete the wishlist item- but I preferred the old method. Thanks for looking into it.

So this is now happening to me- but when I log out and back in- it still shows shelf view, even when I have normal view selected. Anyway to switch it back to normal? Shelf view is cool but I prefer the normal view.

Favorite 2021 Release: Returnal- An absolute masterpiece. I've already seen the true ending, and yet I still want to keep playing. This is the first game I've played that truly feels next generation. Visuals- stunning   sound design- mindblowing- the first time your alt fire recharges- holy shit    controls- like a dream   difficulty- tough but fair-  I guess I like rogues? Hades was my favorite game last year.

Least Favorite 2021 Release: I don't know if I really have a least favorite. Anything I try that sucks I just move on and play something else. But uh... have you played Taxi Chaos? It's like someone took Crazy Taxi and removed everything fun and interesting about it and then released it. After about 10 minutes I was so uncomfortable I had to turn it off.

Favorite Game Played in 2021: Returnal- for the reasons above.

Least Favorite Game Played in 2021: No Escape on Genesis- what an absolute disaster of a game. It sounds like a cool premise and then 5 seconds in you get mobbed to death with some of the worst controls ever. And barely anyway to attack. What a dumpsterfire.

Sleeper Hit of 2021: Ys IX- released in February- this game was absolutely amazing and yet it feels like it came out years ago. Doesn't hit the same way Ys VIII did in some ways but it's really a marvelous game and deserves so much more praise.

Favorite Gaming Moment in 2021: Playing It Takes Two with my best friend. Originally we played it while he was living on the east coast and would try to play an hour or two online when our schedules aligned. Then he told me he was moving to Portland (where I live) and we finished the game in person together. Just a phenomenal game and glad he's on this side of the country now.  These last few years have been terribly isolating so it's nice to have some friends around every once in a while.

Proudest Collection Accomplishment of 2021: I reorganized and alphabetized my gaming room! It looks really great now and I feel very proud. Took me like 6 hours just to do the PS2- absolutely brutal. But so worth it.

And I'm 1 game away from a NA retail Saturn set- so if I get a copy of Contra by the end of the year that will be my top collection moment- otherwise it will be my top 2022 moment!
