News / PRO Supporter flair and Private Message notifications

Hello all,
I just pushed out a few updates:
#1. In an effort to highlight our VGCollect PRO supporters, you'll now see some flair on the Collection, Wish and Sell Lists pages up near the user names. I also updated the forums so that you'll also now see some flair in the forums for Pro supporters.
#2. One thing that has always bothered me is that I would never notice if I have a PM unless I was already in the forums. This has been corrected and now you'll have a new messages icon site-wide in the top right portion of the screen. This will highlight itself if you have an unread message. This feature is now in testing and only available for PRO users. We'll roll it out side-wide in a few days after we are sure it is bug free.
That is all for now. I'm still going through and cleaning up some of the remaining bugs. As always I'll keep updating forum threads as I go. I really appreciate all of the feedback, bug reporting, suggestions and especially support over the last 2 weeks! This has been a fun launch!

Scott was able to discover the source of our login slow down. It actually isn't even the login page, but rather the Feed page. Somehow I managed to create a query that takes over 30 seconds to execute. Do we have any other MySQL ninjas out there? I need some help fixing this one.

Wow what a night! 
I just got done pushing out our biggest update yet. Here is a quick list of the changs:
New Stuff
---------
Server - We are now on our own dedicated server. Now with Blast Processing!
Design - An entire new responsive design that works across desktop, tablets and mobile browsers.
Feed - updated to show game details. You'll now see notes and details about games added.
Collection/Wish List/Sell List - built a quicker and easier way to edit item details.
Collection/Wish List/Sell List - Release Type now shows up on the main item list.
Collection/Wish List/Sell List/Feed - Added a Tutorial for new users.
Items - VGCollect staff can now Lock an item. This will prevent users from submitted edits to games that already have complete, verified data.
Items - Full item history included on item details page.
Items - My Stuff now displays your Collection details on the item details page.
Search - Created an Advanced Search that will allow you to filter by platform.
Search - Added auto-suggest to search.
Notifications - Notifications are back!
Notifications - Notifications now include both accepted and rejected edits. If your edit was rejected you will now recieve a notification along with the reason for the rejection.
Badges - Badges are back! These can be found on your About page.
About - Added Location and Bio to the about page. These can be edited from your settings page.
About - Built out the About page to include a nice chart and some user statistics.
Issues
------
We've done some pretty thorough testing but as usual...we miss stuff. A new support thread will pop up shortly.
Some images are still missing. Working through those as we speak.
Had to pull out some of the sorting options (Priority). Will add back soon.
VGCollect Pro
---------------
People have often asked for a way to donate and/or support the site financially but I never really had an answer. VGCollect is a labor of love for myself, Scott and our other awesome volunteers and it was never something I hoped to make a profit on. Regardless of our intentions, there are obvious costs associated with building and maintaining the site. That being said, I humbly present VGCollect PRO. What is VGCollect Pro? It is simply a way for you to help support the site and community you love. In exchange we'll hide all banner ads throughout the site, give you a sweet special badge and our never ending thanks. In the future I'll also be tossing in some BETA privledges that'll help you see and test features before the general public. More info here: http://vgcollect.com/pro
Please let me know if anyone has any questions, comments or suggestions. I know there are still a few bugs but we'll get those worked out ASAP.

News / VGCollect Turns 3!

Happy Birthday VGCollect! We are now officially out of the terrible twos and moving on to bigger and better things. Three years ago today, VGCollect officially opened for business with a small post over at Digital Press. This has been by far our biggest and best year as I finally feel like we are growing in all the right directions. I won't bore you with stats - I let Scott handle that monthly 
- but this year we've made great strides not only from a database/ community point of view but also from a technology point of view. The foundation is now solid and will allow us to continue this growth.

I know I say this often but we've got an awesome thing going here and it wouldn't be the same without you guys. Thanks for hanging out and sticking with us through all the bugs and growing pains.
The birthday celebration will officially begin around 7pm EST tonight. At that time, the site will be put into maintenance mode as we shut down the old server and boot up the new. THE SITE MAY BE DOWN FOR AN HOUR OR MORE. I've been hard at work on a few secrets that will all go live tonight when the new server fires up. Expect a full update then!

News / Server Issues

Just wanted to make a quick post regarding the server issues. Some of you may have noticed that the site hasn't been responding and/or is giving connection errors. Just wanted to let everyone know that this is going to be addressed with a major update later this morning. We'll be moving to a dedicated server that has more than 50% more CPU and RAM. I'll post more info on this update as we get closer.
