Site Feedback / Players Choice vs. Player's Choice
« on: May 04, 2012, 09:53:55 am »
I was editing a few listings when I came across something I've never noticed before.  For the Nintendo systems "Player's Choice" games, there are two different ways that they are printed.  One with the apostrophe, and one without.  Luckily, the two aren't variations, meaning that the "Player's Choice" printing didn't happen until the GC and GBA.  SNES, GB and N64 are all "Players Choice".  We have several games in the database that are listed both ways.  I'm cleaning them up as I see them, but it's something to keep in mind when adding new listings.

Marketplace / SNES LED Mod
« on: April 21, 2012, 06:33:59 pm »
I've added a new service to my list of things I can do.  I'm now offering a LED mod for the SNES.  $10.00 plus return shipping gets you a new color LED.  Right now I have the following colors on hand: Green, Blue, Yellow,  and White.  No need to send your entire system either.  All you have to send is the controller port piece.  This will greatly save on shipping costs.

As a reminder, I still do NES, SNES, and N64 cartridge battery replacements, and I still have a lot of XBOX 360 drive belts available.

Site Feedback / Sell List Bug
« on: April 05, 2012, 05:01:31 pm »
It seems that when you add a game to your sale list that, you already have in your collection, any details are duplicated on the sale list.  As an example, I have 2 copies of TMNT 2 for sale.  Because I have one copy in my collection with a manual, the other copies have the manual listed, even though I don't have manuals for those.  I can't find a way to edit this either...

Classic Video Games / NES game variant discovery
« on: March 20, 2012, 04:43:11 pm »
So I was browsing at a local game store on my lunch break today when something caught my eye.  They had a copy of Bases Loaded with Jaleco on the end label in blue.  This didn't seem right, so I pulled out my phone and checked the database.  The only copy we had listed was the orange label.  I assume nobody cares, since old sports games are generally worthless, but this was new to me.   I did create a new listing for the variant though.

Marketplace / NES, SNES, N64 Battery Replacement
« on: February 02, 2012, 05:18:37 pm »
I've decided to offer battery replacement service to you fine folks.  I'm not posting this anywhere else, it's a vgcollect.com exclusive!

Here's what I'll do:
Desolder and remove your dead battery.
Solder in a battery holder (to make future battery changes quick and easy).
Install a new CR2032 battery.
Polish the PCB connectors.
Clean the cartridge casing if needed.
Test the game to ensure it saves data again.

I'm only charging $12 plus return shipping.   If this sounds like something that you are interested in, let me know.

I also still have a bunch of XBOX 360 disc drive belts if anyone needs one.

Oh, and I'll accept trades instead of payment too.

Site Feedback / Remember?

On the main page, I clicked the button to remember my name and password, but it only remembers my password, not my name.

Site Feedback / Dragon Warrior (Gold Label)?
« on: September 08, 2011, 10:50:21 am »
This entry was created a few days ago, and it didn't look right to me.  I've done a lot of searching and I can't find any indication that it exists.  The only thing I can find is that apparently, there was a minor variant of the end part of the label.  The older labels are yellow, and the newer ones are a butterscotch color.  There's no mention of gold labels except the one on the back.  Anyone know about this?

Marketplace / Looking for old pc controller.
« on: September 01, 2011, 08:42:47 pm »
So I just got my old windows 95 pc out of storage where it has been for the last 12 years or so.  My plan was to clean it out and use it to play old games.   I used to have a Gravis 4 button pad, but I seem to have lost it somewhere.  If anyone has a spare, or knows where I can find something similar, please let me know.  It has to have a serial end on it, not usb.

Does anyone own any of these?  I recently discovered them and they are pretty cool.  A bit pricey though, I'd be happy with copies myself.

Site Feedback / Edit bug
« on: May 18, 2011, 10:26:14 am »
I'm noticing that when a listing has a name longer than what can be seen in the name field on the edit page, it cuts the rest off when you edit the listing for anything else.  For example, I just added pictures to http://vgcollect.com/item/10675 and luckily I noticed on the approval screen that it had cut the title to "Surround (Text Label /"  I already fixed it, but this bug needs looking into.

Site Feedback / Atari Headaches
« on: May 13, 2011, 11:04:28 am »
So in the course of adding Atari 2600 games to the database, I've learned a lot.  Not only were games made for 5 different TV formats (NTSC, PAL, Etc.), but also different geographical regions.  I have absolutely no idea how to go about this...  Should we just keep it to North American releases?

News / To-do list
« on: May 24, 2011, 10:21:35 am »
Matt, can you post the famous to-do list in here, so we can see what is in the works?  We have a lot of good ideas floating around in the feedback forum, but I'd like a place to see all of them in one place, and maybe discuss some of the finer points.

Site Feedback / Listing Art Problems
« on: May 03, 2011, 10:05:12 am »
I'm seeing a few listings with bad artwork, so just like the Duplicate Listing thread, I'll keep an updated list.  If you come across any, post it here.

Front box art is of the loose cartridge, needs to be moved to the correct place.
